Surely they can chuck him in an "unclaimed body" cemetery and the family can make a donation to that cemetery for the body not being technically "unclaimed". He's sort of "unclaimed" in spirit, in the sense that no one wants him.

And it sounds like the majority of the cemeteries they keep quoting are saying that they fear reprisal from people with loved ones buried there. In an unclaimed body cemetery by definition there will be no concerned loved ones making a fuss about who is buried there.

ami, I don't think there are any "unclaimed body cemeteries". The municipality (usually county) just purchases plots in an already established cemetery for such purposes.

Not happy about that. Sends a bad message. Hopefully he won't high tail it to the country of his birth! How much stupider can the law get!

He was born in the US.

We do NOT want his body in Louisiana or Mississippi. Not at all acceptable!

I don't think anyone needs to worry about that, since prison cemeteries in LA, MS, and TX are reserved for unclaimed remains of deceased prison inmates that were incarcerated @ the time of their death in those states.

In court documents filed Saturday, Phillipos’s lawyers and supporters said he is the only son of Genet Bekele, a domestic violence specialist who moved to the state in 1981 and has since earned three college degrees: an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northeastern University, and a master’s degree in social work from Boston University.

According to the defense filing, Phillipos is bilingual in Amharic and English but is fully integrated into American life, having been raised here. In affidavits, friends and his attorney described Phillipos as a conscientious and civic-minded man who was “frightened and confused’’ when questioned about Tsarnaev after the bombings.

Hmm, it also says: Phillipos would be under home confinement at a home other than his own....

Anyone know why?

I find it ironic that this liar is being portrayed by his friends & attorney as "civic-minded".

A person who is "civic-minded" is concerned about their communities. IMO, this liar didn't show any concern for his community when he lied to investigators, and ostensibly turned a blind eye when his buddies were disposing of material evidence related to a terrorism investigation.

"Civic-minded" my 🤬🤬🤬. What a joke.

All the fuss about a dead body is pretty weird to me. It's an object, at this point. It doesn't possess supernatural powers of evil that are going to "taint" everything around it. It's not going to rise up and start attacking people.

Just bury it or cremate it the same as any other unclaimed body, or bodies of folks whose families cannot afford a burial. Good grief.

But the body's already claimed and Uncle Tarni can pay for a proper Moslem burial. I do feel sorry for Uncle Ruslan. It's like he's a train with a cargo of toxic waste going state to state and no one wants it.

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/05/tamerlan-tsarnaev-funeral-plans-90938.html

Meanwhile, a relative arrived in Massachusetts on Sunday to arrange for his burial, saying he understands that “no one wants to associate their names with such evil events.”

Ruslan Tsarni, of Montgomery Village, Md., and three of his friends met with the Worcester funeral home director and prepared to wash and shroud Tsarnaev’s body according to Muslim tradition. The 26-year-old died after a gun battle with police April 19.

Tsarni told reporters that he is arranging for Tsarnaev’s burial because religion and tradition call for his nephew to be buried. He would like him buried in Massachusetts because he’s lived in the state for the last decade, he said.

“I’m dealing with logistics. A dead person must be buried,” he said.

He said he was grateful to Stefan for agreeing to arrange the burial and to his friends for accompanying him to Massachusetts to aid with the funeral.

“These are my friends who feel for me … as I do understand no one wants to associate their names with such evil events,” he said.

Tsarni, who lives in Maryland, said he would remain in Massachusetts until the burial was sorted out. After spending hours treating Tsarnaev’s body, Tsarni emerged in a solemn, reflective state.

“I can’t describe it,” Tsarni said of the body-washing process. “What’s done is done.”

In silence, he walked up the funeral home’s creaky staircase.

“Strong or weak, shame finds you,” Tsarni said as he readied to leave just before 9 p.m. “It does not discriminate.”

My guess is, from another article I read earlier today, that he will be at a home where someone is in the home all day.

How exactly do they plan to recover the phone conversation? And as far as I can tell, recording of phone calls is illegal, unless judge allows it. Yet FBI is claiming they were not monitoring TT.

It's the NSA, I believe. Part of the Patriot Act allows recording of all phone calls and emails of everyone in the United States. Not sure where the center is that does this, but it is a massive on-going procedure. I heard of a teen who was visited by FBI after mentioning a bomb in an email to a friend. He was joking and he was cleared after the investigation,, but it showed that we are all recorded.

ITA. I'm surprised that the "frightened and confused" excuse is being tossed about. I'm sure that he WAS both those things, but since when is that a legal defense? Grr....

Also he lied twice in a row. It wasn't just one spur of the moment, 'why the heck did I just say that?, sort of thing. Two different statements he lied.

I know - right? IMO, if he was 'confused', it was because he couldn't keep track of his lies.

I read an article yesterday where his attorney referred to him as an "adolescent". I was like "huh"???? He's NOT an adolescent.

"The weight of the federal government under such circumstances can have a devastatingly crushing effect on the ability of an adolescent to withstand the enormous pressure and respond rationally," the defence states.

I call BS. It sounds to me as if his mommy hired an attorney who's an expert at distorting reality. This 19 year old young man (not 'adolescent') flat-out lied - more than once. It appears to me he only finally told the truth when backed into a corner with evidence. IMO, his mommy should show him some tough love & leave him in jail.

I agree completely. If I was his mother he would be sitting in jail. I would not want to be responsible for his actions when he gets out.
