Kinda both.
He died of multiple gunshot wounds and shrapnel from the bomb.
I heard that on TV.

Sounds like he was shot by police. But also that he had pre-existing shrapnel (or blast) injuries from the Marathon.

I haven't heard the shrapnel was pre-existing.

From what I'm hearing its from last night/this morning.

I don't think he was hurt during Monday's bombing.

Yes! Last night, I went to bed after following the chase/shootout in the basement scanner thread, thinking it was unrelated.... But they did all of this, too. :banghead:

I believe you are correct. Reports say he 'may' have had a bomb strapped to his chest, thus the shrapnel.
