I am awestruck how fast this reaction all went into place. I mean, it is an incredibly coordinated response-I dont know if he is going to give himself up, but he is going to have a very hard time hiding unless he takes folks hostage ala dorner.

Why did they rob the store?

I just read/heard that may have not been related (store robbery).

Trying to catch up here (lots of pics here btw):

Can anyone say - if MIT shoot out is related, did black hat guy die there? And how did white hat end up in Watertown, do they know?

What I've heard from a news report was they were at MIT and shot an officer. They stole his car and robbed a 7-11.

They then hijacked another car without killing the driver and a chase and firefight began which ended up in Watertown.

Suspect one died in a fire fight.

I think they have an apt. there which was surrounded.

Maybe someone can correct, add to what I've heard from news reports which are fluid and not verified.

In a chaotic, violent overnight that began with a robbery, the fatal shooting of a MIT police officer and a stolen car chase, police officers traced Boston marathon bombing suspects from Cambridge to Watertown, amid reports of further gunfire and explosions. During the chase, one suspect was killed, according to police, and a second remains at large. "We believe this to be a terrorist," Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said.

This is how WBUR is still reporting it fwiw. I am sure it is still a fluid situation. http://www.wbur.org/

Yea I saw the video of it on Today. This guy isn't going down without a fight, I'm pretty sure of it.

How scary for entire towns to be trapped in their houses. I just can't imagine it- waiting, listening to every sound *shudder*

It makes me so glad to live in Australia, where this stuff just doesn't happen! We don't have school shooting or terrorist attacks (not saying it couldn't, just that it doesn't). I've learnt so much since I've been on this board.

I may have missed something. :blushing: Is it known what this comment/follow-up is in response to?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one wondering.:blushing:

They are obviosly not willing to go quiet. I have a feeling the end of this is going to be ugly. He isnt going to get away, so I imagine he is going to put up a fight.

Interview with a school friend on WBZ - the larger brother was a boxer, younger one (on the run now) is a wrestler, got a wrestling scholarship. Friend is absolute stunned. Extremely stunned. Lived in Cambridge with their parents. Friend said brothers have been here years, longer than media is saying. Says they were "normal American kids".

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev posted this YouTube video on his profile, "Caucasian Accents." Unsure if he filmed video - http://youtu.be/0lgTvAMP2Ak

He seems so fun and light hearted, I guess looks can be deceiving.

Can't figure out why Chechens would be targeting Boston though, I thought they focused on Russian movie theaters and schools. Chechnya is still occupied by Russia right?

Jeff Bauman truly is a hero.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/2013/04/19/15/28/victim-looked-into-the-eyes-of-boston-bomber

Jeff Bauman was waiting to see his girlfriend cross the finish line when a man in a baseball cap and black jacket looked at him and dropped a bag at his feet, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.
Two and a half minutes later, the 27-year-old lost both his legs when the bag exploded.
He was rushed to hospital but gave the FBI a description of the man he saw while in intensive care.
"He woke up under so much drugs, asked for a paper and pen and wrote, 'Bag, saw the guy, looked right at me'," his brother Chris Bauman told the New Hampshire Union Leader.
He said his brother's description had helped the FBI narrow down their investigation.

He is so selfless. Can you imagine going through that ordeal? Realising it wasn't a nightmare. Coming to know that the pain is real and that your legs are gone. Then the first thought in your mind isn't for yourself, it's to help others by making a report.
