Can't figure out why Chechens would be targeting Boston though, I thought they focused on Russian movie theaters and schools. Chechnya is still occupied by Russia right?

I don't believe their actions are related to being from Chechnya. I think they are angry, deranged young men. Of course we don't know, but they've lived in the US for at least a couple of years, etc.

The scary thing is that how do you prevent something like this. These guys technically weren't domestic but they might as well should be since they've been here for years, seemingly normal.

Do we just start rounding up everyone who hails from a country with terrorism ties now?

They are obviosly not willing to go quiet. I have a feeling the end of this is going to be ugly. He isnt going to get away, so I imagine he is going to put up a fight.

Agreed. If he wanted to run and hide he would have done it and wouldn't have drawn attention to them. If he wanted out, he would have done it quietly at home. He wants to go out with a bang, and probably take more people with him.

I think being blown to bits would be a fitting end, but I understand that there are people who would like to see him punished and are desperate for answers. I really hope that they get their answers, even if it isn't him who provides them.

Agree. They seem more like a Klebold/Harris duo than a political one.

The friend being interviewed said nothing about political interests, etc.

This is not recent but I'd hope the US, FBI and Russia are working together to learn of any connections.

I'm putting this out there because it must be mentioned, it is old mainstream news. No connections have been made to the two brothers but the possibility exist. There was another incident in 2004 with the Chechen rebel movement in which over 350 died from a terrorist attack.

His brother's son.
He has been here since early 2001 when he was a child
Very nice, quiet boy. Hasn't had a relationship with them since last in Boston in 06
Last he heard was younger one had graduated HS and went on to college.
Father doesn't speak English well.
School was in Salisbury, or that area, and that was the latest he knew.

I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories but it's all over the internet the entire story would unfold on Friday and two teens would be caught, I mean it's an incredibly lucky guess whoever wrote that.. almost frightening lol.

My theory at this point, after reading some background on the older one, is that he wanted a US passport and to become a naturalized citizen (via winning boxing tournaments...?). I haven't read any updates on what happened with the tournaments, but my guess is it didn't go as planned. So I think he had a bone to pick about it all, and all of those seemingly happy marathon runners/spectators... .... and conned his little brother into joining him.
