I must say that I have never watched the news or listened to a scanner for as long as I have today. My friends and I are celebrating with drinks and we still can't turn off the T.V.... and I still can't get off of WS.

Good Sleuthin Folks.

No bomb vest, came out alive. Really says to me older brother was the brains of the operation. I'm glad he's alive so I hope we can get information out of him about the motive, and any other friends of theirs that may have the same ideas.

I think the fact that this suspect is still alive is quite astonishing, particularly after the barrage of gunfire, over 100s of rounds of bullets spent reportedly by LE. And now you're saying he didn't even have a bullet-proof vest on! Wow. Just wow.

I hope LE interrogates him thoroughly and uses compassion rather than anger to garner the valuable info he holds -- he and his brother's motives, their terrorist training/techniques of bomb-making, which extremist cells they're affiliated with, if any, etc. The boy's young and his mindset is likely not immalleable, and you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. His not committing suicide by self or cop means he wants to live. I think deep inside, he wanted to be caught to face consequences and just punishment.

were others arrested?

Yes.

http://www.abc6.com/story/22028344/report-3-arrested-in-new-bedford-in-connection-to-bombing-suspect

Neighbors say three have been arrested in New Bedford in connection with the Boston Bombing suspect.

Police apprehended suspects from the Hidden Brook Apartments on Carriage Drive in New Bedford. Neighbors say they think that the girlfriend of 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev may have lived in the complex and they have seen him in the area as recently as yesterday.

Why do people keep telling others to see the scanner thread when they ask basic legit questions like "why are they taking his friends into custody"? Every time someone posts this I end up reading 10 or more pages of random "the dinner truck is here" and "where is bob" transcriptions and there is zero chance of actually getting the answer to the relatively simple question without sifting through an evening of radio chatter. Is it really against guidelines to use the combined knowledge of 8 hours of police chatter to answer a basic question about the case?

because there is a lot that is there that has not been published.

We have been so relieved here. We high fived but didn't cheer - there's something deeply satisfying about knowing he was taken ALIVE. One murderer dead, to satisfy those who thought that was the best outcome - the other dead to stand up and face what he's done (if he lives that long, and I hope he does).

been watching the news all day....
Thank god......

Me too.

But I think I have to give the dedicated watcher award to my mother- she started out watching from ICU at 4 this morning and finished watching at the dinner table at home!

Honorable mention will go to my middle daughter who is deaf and watched online until CNN lives online feed lost it's captioning... Thanks to Boston we found her a local channel streaming with CC.

Because in most instances, the answer has been heard over the live feed, but it can't be posted up here. It's a friendly gesture by someone who doesn't want to ignore your question, but is unable to reply.

Do they know if the 3 suspects in New Bedford are related professionally or personally to the two marathon bombing suspects?

I'd have to go back to my post a few pages back or so (as it was being reported LIVE CNN). All I remember is that Anderson Cooper interrupted a woman reporter he was talking with to report intel from CNN's NY office - that as a result of a search warrant executed in New Bedford MA on a residence, 3 people were taken into custody (and though that word was used--whether that means 'arrest' or not--the rest of the report was careful to say they were NOT suspects, but were POI as regards the suspect due to the fact that the residence "was affiliated with" the suspect). That, and something said about the college led me to believe this may have even been college housing. Not familiar with the area, so can't verify that.

Im drinking champagne with my chihuahua laying at my feet, my sons safe in the house. Some arse just set off fireworks here. In our defense we are under 18 feet of water and people are being rescued a few blocks from me. Fortunately we've not flooded yet (we are declared a state of emergency). Nutty day!

Yeah, I'm sure he is thinking, "I definitely want to go to prison for the rest of my life. I need to face just consequences and punishment for I did. I cannot take the easy way out." Okay  I'm guessing he is either completely delusional about what is ahead for him, wants to enjoy his new notoriety/infamy (and his new fan club), or wants to be able to spread whatever message he has.
