#1 was married and supposedly wife had a job. #1 was on break from college.
#2 was a college student, I believe he had a scholarship.

And??? I have 2 kids in college over a thousand miles away. On scholarships. I agree that they probably didn't need a lot of money, but they need some. They still need books, food, shampoo, soccer cleats, etc etc etc. My poor kids donate plasma for money. They don't have a car. Somebody was bankrolling them somewhat.

The boat family must have been so freaked out. I cant imagine knowing he was in my own backyard. Hiding out in my personal property. So surreal.

Or they could have been making money off the table. Lots of things one can do to make money without being on a payroll.

If it is confirmed that the mother was arrested for shoplifting, it makes me think they were very much into appearing more wealthy than they actually were. And eventually when that sort of pretense comes apart, it tends to come apart ugly. JMO, OMO, MOO, etc.

Is the police log from the local newspaper enough proof for you? YES, she was arrested for shoplifting.

Please don't jump on me but I feel a little bit bad for the 2nd kid. Only because I'm betting most of his motivation came from his older brother. At 19 yrs old , you don't really h ave a great idea of what's going on in the world and I feel like his brother talked him into this and the boy just went along with it, trying to impress his big bro that he looks up to and now he's the one literally left holding the bag. That does in no way minimize his guilt. I just wonder if his mind right now he's thinking why why why did I let him talk me into this.

I'm with you. He's small, like my 19yo son and plays soccer. Although my son debates and knows what's going in the world. I don't know though, this dude seemed to have friends and wasn't that much of a loser. What a wasted life though.

I think very clearly he is getting out. The tarp is torn. Son of the homeowner was interviewed. The tarp was not torn when his step father went to investigate the boat-only one strap was cut.

He never got out. He was removed, I believe. (I could be wrong... but I think that's what happened)

Some of the questions about where the money came from and what type of support system they had in place will come out fairly soon. There's a push from some in Washington to label suspect #2 as an "enemy combatant" which changes everything about his future

they'll have to have some form of proof he was part of a bigger plan to get that status

Based on the photo he clearly got out.

How could they possibly label #2 as enemy combatant? He was US citizen.

Well, off here for a baseball game, but I still want to know what they were doing at MIT and why they ambushed that cop. They hadn't car jacked anyone yet. That's my want to know question.

Side note, they were in Boston which has a lot of public trans. An ex boss's son went to some music school there and his son didn't take his car - something about too expensive to park and didn't need it. Is this true??

Despite the car,how were these two supporting themselves? Terrorist #1,has a wife and kids. Where did he reside? What did he drive and where is that car? How was he paying for his college, when he was going? Who was paying for Terrorist #2 to go to college? How about his apartment?
I don't see anything about their employment, unless I missed something.

His wife worked, but that doesn't seem enough to support all of them unless she had a really good paying job.

I'm sure he knew what was going on in the world . I didn't mean to imply he didn't know at all. But at that age you look up to your older siblings and can be so easily influenced. He still needs full punishment for sure. It's just a shame. Just imagine how much your own political ideas have morphed since you were 19 vs. today ! I've made several full revolutions of thought since then . If this kid comes out and says he was in full agreement with it, then great. But seems to me his brother took him for a ride and dropped him off in HE##~

I believe it was reported they had another pressure cooker bomb with them which they trew at cops and it didn't work because the lid came off. They could have been planning to plant more bombs, I presume.

You can be a US citizen and still be considered an enemy combatant.

He did appear to have a good life. Opportunities some American born never have. Clearly he chose the wrong path. Waste for sure.

Maybe he was also getting student loans, a lot of students get too much and then get a refund check which they can spend on whatever they want/need.

He did not go to school in Boston, he went to school in Dartmouth which is maybe 45 minutes away...

Yes, parking is expensive. Public transport is good for the city proper. Not as much for the larger metro area, but for a kid at music school (Berklee, I presume), having a car would be a lot more hassle and expense than is worth it.
