It is disturbing when they are talking about how "hot" a terrorist bombing suspect is. One who is accused of killing four people and injuring hundreds more.

What DT did doesn't change how he looks. He's a good-looking kid. Teens are prone to drama and his story certainly provides plenty. Actually, his case provides a chance for parents to talk to their teens about not judging a book by its cover.

I have. Few thoughts regarding this whole KT shoplifting story...

I don really think a teenager shop lifting under a hundred dollars worth if clothes from a cheap store at her local mall is quite the same as an adult women committing grand larceny. A lot of teenagers try shoplifting. It's not right, but I don't think its exactly prelude for full on criminal activity. Also though its possible she knew TT at this time as it was roughly 3 years before her daughter would have been born, so I guess they could have already been acquainted. However she either would have been a senior in HS or a freshmen in college and it would have been a crime that took place near her parents home in RI, not near her college in MA. No where near where he met TT, so the idea that she did this to prove something to him is a real stretch as far as I'm concerned.

In regards to DT and dealing pot...

If he was a pothead and a pot dealer....he likely wasnt making boatloads of money off selling weed. Ya know "don't get high on your own supply". I mean I suppose its possible he moved a whole lot of weed....but its also possible and I would think more likely, that he had a connection where he got his weed from and sold to people he knew. I think some people are jumping to conclusion that someone saying DT once sold them weed means he was the big dealer on campus. Weed is SO common amongst HS and college kids, especially here in MA, especially I thin state schools. Do you know how many of those college kids sell weed....far more then you'd think. I just am not sure this fact is as big of a deal as its being made out to be.

One last thing that keeps driving me nuts!!! We keep saying that TT was a devout Muslim because he didn't drink or smoke.....well for one Islam doesn't so much say you can't drink...it discourages getting drunk....plenty of Muslims drink, and smoke tobacco...hookahs are a very big part of middle eastern/Muslim culture. What Truly devout Muslim really discourage is MURDER!

TT was the furthest thing from religious he was a coward and a murderer who misused religious teachings just as Hitler did, saying Jews should be killed because the killed Jesus (even though Jesus was a Jew and it was really the Romans who wanted him dead). Using religion to make people think their cause has meaning is NOT what being devout means.

Grrrrrrr....sorry for that.

Yes, the DM is allowed.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...rathon-bombers-said-does-care-son-killed.html

From the article:

"The mother of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects has launched into a bizarre rant in which she claims she does not care if she or her youngest son are killed by U.S. authorities.

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, who now lives in Dagestan, Russia, said in an emotional telephone interview that she believes her sons, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, have been framed for the bombings.

The suspects' father, Anzor Tsarnaev, has already been interviewed by Russian and American authorities and will make his way to the United States along with his ex-wife as early as Thursday.

Their eldest son, Tamerlan, 26, died after a shootout with police in Watertown, Massachusetts on Friday, while her youngest, Dzhokhar, 19, is in hospital recovering from a wound to the neck.

'If they are going to kill him, I don't care,' she told CNNof Dzhokhar. 'My oldest one is killed, so I don't care. I don't care is my youngest one is going to be killed today. I want the world to hear this.

Rant: Zubeirat Tsarnaena, the Boston bombers' mother, has said she does not care if her surviving son is killed

'And I don't care if I am going to get killed too. And I will say Allahu akbar!'"

I would not be happy if my kids were posting stuff online about wanting to have DT's babies etc.

An interesting article from the Russian newspapers

St. Petersburg Times

For Tsarnaev Brothers, Family Model Broke Down

MOSCOW — As more details surfaced Monday regarding the complex family history of the Tsarnaev brothers, suspected of detonating deadly bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, the traditions of Caucasian families became a focus of inquiry into why Tamerlan and Dzhokhar may have turned into terrorists.

The Tsarnaev family moved from Kyrgyzstan to Dagestan in the 1990s and then to the United States in the early 2000s, apparently struggling to fit into a wide array of societies. In recent years, the parents of the two suspects moved back to Makhachkala, the capital of the Republic of Dagestan, leaving their children in the U.S. ...

But the brothers’ mother told ABC news that, “what Tamerlan said was law for Dzhokhar.”

Caucasian families are typically governed by a patriarchal model, and the younger brother’s loyalty to his elder sibling may have been strengthened by the pair’s separation across an ocean from their parents.

disclaimer: I don't post this because I agree with it, I just find other perspectives interesting. Especially since this is a sympathetic slant.:anguish:

Does anyone else find it funny that they are generalizing Caucasian families? Or am I missing something?

The Caucasus, also Caucas or Caucasia, is a region at the border of Europe and Asia, situated between the Black and the Caspian Seas. It is home to the Caucasus Mountains, which contain Europe's highest mountain, Mount Elbrus. Politically, the Caucasus region is separated between northern and southern parts.

They are referring to a geographic region in Russia.

Did they perhaps mean "Chechenyan"? (IDK how that is supposed to be spelled. Sorry)

Yep! I noticed that too. I find it funny all of the hand wringing we do here in the US over political correctness, yet other countries and cultures don't seem to care over there.

I really can not see them holding any kind of Service for the older brother
they are simply asking for trouble, and they will have to once again have police back up etc... to keep the area secure, and who pays for all this, The People Of Boston, and I think they have gone through enough, and I am from Canada.

Maybe the sisters just take the body, and have whatever, wherever, and the media not cover it. Really do you people really want to know?

If it was a straight up drug killing, they would not have left pot strewn all over the victims bodies, imo. They would have taken that expensive product with them. JMO

I agree. Covering the bodies with pot is sending a strong message.

I am probably stretching here but....

They all say TT became increasingly religious AFTER his friend was murdered, his "only American friend". Maybe he was becoming fanatical before then and killing his "only American friend" was a symbolic way of putting a stop to all of TT's negative behavior and infidel friends that were influencing him.

I saw the same thing...I would hope his death did not come after bombings and speculation. It would tear me up to think that could have caused his death (suicide?) I am thinking the cold water temperatures could have kept the body from decomopsing.

Hopefully the ME has more news tomorrow. Prayers to this young man and his family! :please:

If that article is to be believed, the two sons should have been listening to their own father.
And it doesn't even appear that they did that.
Father didn't want the older one to quit boxing. He did it anyway.
And younger one is accused of selling pot.
It sounds to me like these two did whatever they wanted. Patriarhal model, my:butthead:.

Just thinking....perhaps the marijuana the bodies were covered with was not good quality.....maybe the message was "we don't want your s*itty marijuana"

Maybe they were trying to pass off cheap stuff, as the good stuff and making considerable profit doing it.

Somebody is going to slit three men's throat for that?

"The CIA asked the main U.S. counterterrorism agency to add the name of one of the suspected Boston Marathon bombers to a watch list more than a year before the attack, according to U.S. officials.

...

The new disclosure suggests that the U.S. government may have had more reason than previously known to scrutinize Tsarnaev in the months leading up to the bombings in Boston. It also raises questions as to why U.S. authorities didn’t flag his return to the country after a seven-month trip to Russia last year."

Sure it depends who they pissed off. That could be a HUGE profit difference. It could be a matter of principal, that someone felt taken advantage of...if that someone bought large quantities from these men at a premium price and it was actually worth much less.

  • #518
I think this paragraph explains it all. Sounds like Russia was contacting US multiple times, but US didn't care, since the potential terrorist act wasn't expected to be taking place in US, but in Russia. So that explains why they didn't follow up, etc. Oops.

"Law enforcement officials said that the request to the FBI in 2011 originated from fears by the Russian government that Tamerlan was a threat to Russia and would commit a terrorist act in Russia -- not the United States. The request came from Russian federal police to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow."

If this was over profit, then $5,000 wouldn't be left on the scene.

But their father, Anzor, told the news agency that he encouraged Tamerlan not to stay in Russia, recommending that he return to the U.S. and seek citizenship. Tamerlan went back in July but was apparently planning to move to Dagestan with his child and American wife, who had converted to Islam.

That would seem to go against his father’s advice, breaking the code of subordination.

“When Chechen boys wanted to ‘go in to the forest’” — a widely used term for joining the insurgency — “they would still ask their parents’ permission to do so. This rule was always absolute,” Duduyev said.

Anzor Tsarnaev has apparently been a man out of place for much of his life as well, leading his family on various moves around the world and settling in Dagestan, an unusual home for a Chechen.

I'm not sure that the father was ever "head of that family"....JMO
