My brother-in-law (who lives in Boston) told me that the boat owner in Watertown was offered a new boat by a boat manufacturer in exchange for the bullet riddled one and he declined. Does anyone think it will be worth anything when he gets it back from impound?

Sounds to me like it's worth enough just in sentimental value to its owner. He reportedly turned down the offers for a new boat, encouraging people to give to the victims' fund, instead.

But...weirdly enough, it could also eventually be 'worth' something historically...or even to some odd collector down the pike, who knows?

I, for one, have never used a pressure cooker. In my long life, I have only seen one in all the homes I've ever been in...and I was in catering for nine years.

I've never used one either, but maybe they cooked Russian food in them. An ex-coworker had a Russian mail order girlfriend come over (they didn't marry, and she went back) and I remember he said she cooked him Russian food almost every night either using a pressure cooker or maybe a crockpot. Actually I can't believe a guy would have a pressure cooker, so it was probably a crockpot.

There is never a shortage of targets for terrorist attacks if a terrorist makes them a target. I'm not sure what the answer is but I do know some events will have tighter security.

Kentucky Derby has banned detachable lens for cameras, backpacks and coolers at the gates.

I've also heard hats maybe searched before entry.

My Dad used one for boiling his socks (something they did in the military to stave off athletes foot) when we were kids (a long long time ago). They scared the snot out of us (children) by telling us that this was a dangerous device and that there was the potential of explosions and burns. That warning and the sound of the shaker (sounds like a rattlesnake rattling) scared me from ever wanting to use one or even be around one for life. My brother-in-law used one for canning many years ago. That's the extent of my pressure cooker experience.

Well, I'm guessing the pressure cookers were hidden at the same place where the bombs were constructed. Along with all the other questionable materials. The brothers did each have a car, didn't they?

Or cash from drugs IMO. Even the cultural angle the triple homicide would seem to be drug based - I am assumming it takes a good amount of week to cover three bodies and $5 grand cash certainly sounds like the lifestyle included drug dealing and its perfect if the goal was to get money for the attack.

This also has more nuance in light of his tweet that it is not cool to smoke at the martathon

The pressure cookers came from Macy's, reported earlier in the investigation. Fagor brand IIRC.

The ones they bought came from Macy's, true. But to my knowledge, it hasn't been ruled out that one PC used could have come from their own kitchen as well--since there were so many. I've not heard the final count on how many PCs were used/recovered vs. how many were on the purchase receipt--anyone hear about this? (Also can't remember the date of the purchase receipt...)

"Female fingerprint" IMO, this is silly -- oh no, my god some female touched a pressure cooker ---so out of the realm of innocence -

any of us see a pressure cooker on our kitchen table we know they are up to no good those pressure cooker users......

we do not know if a female touched the bomb ... we know a female touched some pressure cooker somewhere at some time....

Now an AK-47 on the kitchen table might be different.!

Yep, all the time. They're the best way to make rice, because they can get nice and hot without boiling over and vent out the small hole in the top. I've actually got a pot of rice going in my pressure cooker on my stove as we speak. My mother (first generation Greek immigrant) uses them constantly and mine is just like hers. In fact I'd say besides my cast iron frying pan, it's my most used piece of kitchen ware. And I'm in my late 30's, but I've had mine since before my daughter was born... so probably 20 years, since I first lived alone.

(also, I do know all my sisters have them because they always say mine is nicer & they joke about stealing it when they come over - mine has a nice heavy bottom and a really secure seal and they don't make them as well these days...)
