Looking at the wounds SM had on his arm and leg and I must say they are remarkably similar to David's wounds, I think SM was there, at least at the beginning, I think he knows exactly who killed David and Hannah.
Respectfully snipped. Did you (or anyone on here) actually see a quote from the police about the phone belonging to Hannah? I don't recall reading a single article which quoted the police as saying that the phone belonged to Hannah, only that it belonged to one of the victims. It'd be good to see police quotes about it to confirm whether their story actually changed or whether this is just something people have picked up and it's been assumed as fact.

New article in which police change their minds about whose phone they found behind the Burmese people's house,in response to internet scrutiny of inconsistencies in investigation.
Oops, keep typing the wrong thing! I mean police clear up confusion due to incorrect information regarding the phone first stated as belonging to Hannah Witheridge originally published in the Bangkok Post.
"In a bid to clear up confusing reports related to a cell-phone believed linked to the case, Prachum said the iPhone that was retrieved from the suspects belonged to Miller.
"The cell-phone of Witheridge was returned to her family on September 18," Prachum said."
So Somyot says one thing and Prachum says another....Reassuring! NOT.
Wonder if this was a genuine mistake.Convenient.

So the editor by default is making a strong argument for identifying who the 2nd man in the cctv footage of the suspect running is then wouldn't he? This as yet unidentified person has "value." Why has no investigative journalist picked up on this?

To me, it looks like the 2nd person has a bag on their back.If it's just an innocent backpacker, they still need to be identified. If they don't know who it is.They at least need to show interest and will in finding out. Who else was at or adjacent to the crime scene??
It has just crossed my mind that the unidentified figure in this clip with what looks like a bag on their back could be another perp on his way, with his belongings, to catch a private speedboat off the island.If another powerful figure was the perp or a co-perp, it's quite likely that burmese would have been made to help organise and streamline an escape. They do not have much if any status, particularly if it were their employer pressurising them.
Locals on koh tao said the son was at ac bar on that night.Police initially stated they were looking for him and said he had left the island early that morning of the 15th which was why he was a primary suspect at first.They later changed their opinion when the sons lawyer produced stills of cctv footage showing son was at uni on the 15th.
I have been researching if it is possible to fake timestamped cctv. It is in fact possible to do so.
CSI LA have put out a call to obtain passenger lists from koh samui to bangkok airport for that morning.
If it was not the son, who was it who left speedily that morning and could be the same unidentified suspect in the video?
I'm aware this could be pie in sky utterly.Purely questioning.Just want the full truth.
Nothing seems too far fetched.

I am looking for an actual direct quote from the police if possible as I am wondering if people are assuming it was Hannah's. So with a direct quote from the police we'd know without doubt that they have backtracked and explicitly lied and the phone was definitely planted. I've not been able to find one so I'm wondering if some people have just assumed the police meant Hannah's phone but really it could have been David's. I'll have a look and see if there are any pictures of the phone the police 'found'.I'm trying to view the evidence from the perspective that the suspects are guilty and challenging evidence that they are innocent (as this seems to be the opposite of how most people are viewing the evidence). I think it might be helpful seeming as there is so much incorrect information being assumed as fact on other forums and things. I'm not trying to be argumentative if it comes across that way

Yes, Ive seen this video and it feels like i have watched that particular segment about a thousand times. I think it is very telling that the police have felt the need to deliberately edit that person at the bottom left out.
I'm not sure I see a bag, but it is possible I guess. What I think I see is the person raising a bottle to their mouth for a drink. Possibly a 1.5 litre clear plastic bottle of water.
Whole point here is the police have cut a full 2 minutes out from where he walks from left to right, then reappears walking right to left. Why?
I find it laughable that the 'headman' tried to say the main figure in this video was SMcA, when it is clearly an asian.
The headmans son and the headmans brother are my main two likely perps. I dont believe the two Burmese had anything to do with this at all.
Early in the investigation the police relayed via their forensics that there was two different asian persons DNA on Hannah's body. They were very clear that there was no trace of David's DNA on her.
Now they trot out these two poor Burmese and they 'confess' that they got jealous when they saw David and Hannah kissing and making love. They also 'confessed' they hit David over the head with the hoe, when again, the Thai police were quite assured early on that only Hannah's DNA was on the hoe.
The whole thing still stinks and just gets more putrid as each day passes.

I don't think the police would plant a replica phone if the real one had been sent back to the UK and this could be verified. The police in Thailand have no control over what Hannah and David's friends and family discuss with the media so things like this, for all they know, be easily be disproven if not true.
The phone being David's doesn't answer our questions about it though, namely:
Was the phone discovery real or planted by police?
Why would low wage workers dispose of a phone rather than try and sell it? I'd imagine it quickly became too hot to handle with so much publicity about the case, particularly if the men had no way of clearing the data from it. It doesn't make sense to risk being identified as a rapist and double murderer for a bit of money or trying to sell a phone.
Why didn't the (supposed) perps dispose/destroy the mobile phone asap after the crimes when they saw the extent of publicity about the crime? Knowing that the police can search your home and do tend to target foreign workers for this type of thing.
It seems quite strange. We know the police kept a close eye on several groups of suspects. I wonder if they witnessed the suspects try and dispose of the phone, retrieved it and planted it at the scene to boost the evidence. That seemed to be what they tried to do with David's friend at the begining. Long shot perhaps but just throwing it out there.

Wow! Well done to everyone who signed the petition. I'm really hoping and praying it makes a huge difference and that it can be investigated independently...there are way too many inconsistencies for any of it to be remotely true. I really am feeling bad for these 2 guys who I believe are innocent.
