No expert here, but I've done a lot of reading on this topic. It's my understanding that a cell phone will ping to the most accessible tower, which isn't always the closest one geographically. In fact, I think I've got an explanation bookmarked.I wanted to add to my post above, but it's too late to edit. (and change the word through to throw, LOL). I was just googling cell phone towers near Rainbow Lake, the closest one is an ATT a little over a mile away, it is 140 feet tall. However, the tallest cell tower at 165 feet is lcoated 3 miles away......on Sauvie Island. Does anyone know, if TH had a service that would not work with ATT, would her cell ping further away? I don't exactly understand when a phone would ping at one and not the other.
So does a cellphone ping work like GPS? That REQUIRES triangulation. I didn't know that cells did. I thought they just pinged to the most accessible tower they could, which would mean not necessarily the closest. I went to a website where it showed all the cell phone towers within a 4 mile radius of that road. There were 6, more than one of which was on Sauvie Island for whatever reason, but what caught my attention was that the one on Sauvie was the tallest. I would guess that maybe these "other" towers, since not owned by the major players (AT&T, Verizon or whomever, must lease their towers?) (I feel like this should be posted in another thread, but we've created so many, I don't know where it should go)
Here's the info: and link (hope it works)

Billy, I looked at that map. If she were at Rainbow Lake, her phone could've pinged any of those towers. So then, I'm guessing even though she may have been say near Rainbow Lake, her cell could have been pinging at the closest tallest tower on Sauvie Island? IDK and wish I knew the answer.
Hi, This post is about the parking at the Jone's Farm facility at INTEL. I couldn't find a good thread to post this info, so here goes, but hopefully a MOD can put in a more appropriate thread if we have one.
There has been discussion about the parking situation at INTEL where Kaine works, posters wondering if there is video surveillance there. I just got off the phone with my boss' wife who has worked in Admin there for many years. So I asked her if there are any cameras in the parking lots at INTEL.
The family biz is security and so she is very knowlegable about video surveillance. I was mighty surprised as she started talking about Kyron's case and has been following it all along. LOL Small world, but then they live out in that area close to Skyline Hill so I wasn't really that surprised she knew about the ping on SI, that Terri said in her email to KOIN she did drive on Hwy #30 that morning, etc.
So she told me NO, there are no cameras that she has ever seen in the parking areas at the Jones Farm facility or the other Intel location close to Cornelius Pass Rd. I think Kaine worked at Jones Farm, right?
Quizzing her a bit further, I asked if there are multi level parking garages at either facility. The answer again was NO.
At Jones Farm all the parking is in open lots. The other facility might have some up and down parking - not much, but access to that is open without having to go thru a barrier, there are no attendants and no parking stubs are given. So at both places one can just drive in and park with no interruption and no visual.

Trying to figure out a timeline incorporating Sauvie Island.
- According to the most recent information from LE, in the LE/DA flier from the press conference of August 11, LE appears to have Terri's timeline as follows:
8:15 to 8:45am - at Skyline Elementary school
9:00am - Fred Meyer supermarket, Cornelius Pass, 22075 NW Imbrie Rd, Hillsboro
10:00am - Fred Meyer supermarket, Walker Rd, 15995 SW Walker Rd, Beaverton
10:15 to 11:30am - (75 min/1hr 15 min) on or near Skyline Blvd between approx Springville Rd and Newberry Rd, including on or around Germantown Rd and/or Old Germantown Rd
http://www.mcso.us/public/newsroom/081110_PressConferenceFlier.pdf
- Per the two MSM news articles on Terri's timeline, and Terri's emails:
11:39am - 24-hour Fitness gym, Waterhouse Ave, Beaverton
Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - Sources detail Terri’s timeline day Kyron disappeared #2
- Per Google Maps, the drive time from the 2nd Fred Meyer on Walker Rd to Cathedral City Park, just on the other (island) side of the bridge to Sauvie Island, is 23 to 25 minutes (10.4 to 18.2 miles).
- Per Google Maps, the drive time from Cathedral City Park on Sauvie Island to the 24 hour fitness gym in Beaverton is 23 to 25 minutes (9.6 to 17.3 miles).
- Assuming, therefore, the minimum drive times from Google Maps, with arrival on the bridge to Sauvie Island at (10:00am plus 23 minutes = ) 10:23am, and departure from the bridge to Sauvie Island at (11:39am - 23 minutes = ) 11:26am, that would give Terri approximately 1 hour 1 minute (61 minutes) to drive from just on the island side of the bridge to a location on Sauvie Island and dispose of Kyron's body. Plenty of time.
(I'd appreciate it if someone would double check the maps and math. TIA.)

Thank you, Bean. I would hope that by looking at the times referenced here, LE or someone could get a general idea/radius of what areas would be accessible on SI.
But I will say, it still bothers me that Kaine is driving the truck. Who has the Mustang?
BeanE, I would like to point out that Cathedral Park is near the St. John's bridge, not on Sauvie Island. About 4 miles away. You might want to re-do your mileage and times.
