The 911 Call, LE Radio Call & Police Report

One of the things that initially bugged the cr** out of me was the way that Ron blamed Misty. & not for doing something to hurt Haleigh, but for letting her get 'stole'. I would think a normal reaction would be, 'what happened', or 'what did YOU do". He's the adult, those were his children, they were his responsibility, & it was his job to keep them safe & unstolen. What exactly, did he expect this not so bright teen to do? Fight off kidnappers? Shoot them? If the report was true that he mentioned Jo in the 911, & if the reports of the gun fight were true, & if the reports of drug use were true, then why did he leave those kids alone with a teenager? Why weren't they with GGS? If he suspected Joe, then he knew he left his kids in a dangerous situation, & shouldn't have been blaming Misty for getting his kid stole. He should've been blaming himself.

At the end of the first call, before he hangs up, when the dispatcher asks him:


911: “It’s OK sir, we’ve got them on the way…ok- can you give me…what kind of description of pajamas was she wearing? “

His answer is:

Ronald Cummings: “I don’t f%$ know! I was at work!"

He whines the last part. Then he hangs up.


Dispatcher calls them back:


Cummings:” Hello”
911:” OK sir let me just talk to your wife. Let me get some information from her. “

Ronald says: "Man, I need somebody here to help find my F'ing daughter."
911: "Can I talk to her? OK"
Ronald says to Misty: "How the F you let my daughter get stole, B*tch."

Misty: (inaudible) crying. “I don’t wanna…(inaudible)”

Misty: “inaudible”
Cummings: (inaudible, in background ) “Where my daughter at?” (I don't hear this, could this have been the part I added above? Were you using the CNN redacted tape - F words taken out?)

911:” Ma’am. OK listen I need you to answer some questions. Does the door look like it was pried open?”


(I wouldn't want to skip his colorful phrasing, especially when he refers to his F'ing daughter. Classy guy.)

I didn't pick up on Misty saying "I don't wanna", but that absolutely makes sense. Earlier when the 911 operator says to Misty, let me speak to your husband, she says, "Yes, yes, yes, Here!" She was so thankful to be getting off the call and putting the ball in Ron's court. Neither one of them wanted to be "the one" making that call. Ron spoke with 911 less than 40 seconds total, and when he was talking to 911, he did all the talking. He never gave her a chance to question him.
After 911 asks Misty about Haleigh's hair color, she answers, brown, and then she says "oh my God, it's freaking cold!" What's up with that? Why would she be muttering that, under the circumstances? I hear Ron making the statement "we don't want them finding f***ing dope" and I think that's pretty clear.
I couldn't make out a 3rd person talking, but if there was someone else, could it have been Jr's voice? If he's in the house, why isn't he crying, or at least asking questions about what's going on?
This is a strange 911 call. Mostly alibi setting, ranting about what will happen to the kidnappers when they are found, and a lot of ignoring questions from 911. This is crazy!

It seems like at certain times during the 911 call, Ron was physically hurting her. I thought that she was being choked or something at one time. You hear Misty say "Ow, i just woke up! IMO, Ron knocked her upside head.

Having said that.......the next day they are hugged up and things seemed all good. WTH?

I just wanted to mention that since we are revisiting the 911 call we should also note that Ronald Cummings can be heard hollering for Haleigh in the very beginning of the tape before Misty Croslin speaks.

I'm going to be honest..

My initial reaction to that 911 call-was "That girl (Misty) has done something to his child".
The only thing that I questioned about Ron, concerning the 911 call, was why wasn't he the one to make that call. That was it.

I too wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt because he was the Biological father of Haleigh and Misty was just the girlfriend/babysitter. I have a daughter too and I heard terror in his voice, especially when he got on the phone and said "Man, somebody better come find my effen daughter (or something like that)." I felt his pain. I really did.

But as the days went on, I saw that the Cummings had put a protective shield around Misty. No one seemed mad at her- they claimed she was a good mother figure, etc. Ron is seen hugged up with her and I thought "There is no way in the world I would be hugged up with her if my child went missing on her watch". Those suspicions flooded my brain. and those suspicions kept coming.....the marriage, lies told by the key players-yes LIES, Ratgate, informing Misty about Donna and her purpose-you get what I'm saying.

I didn't suspect him..at first..But everything that I witnessed and heard after that had me scratching my head like"WTH". I formed my opinions based on that...I didn't want to put the father under the microscope, IMO, he put himself there.

Maybe he was trying to get her attention, (had her back to him) and he popped her upside the head, and she responded with "ow" as a natural reaction. We know she wasn't paying attention to the 911 operator at times, because the operator had to ask several questions more than once. A lot of things were going on during that call, and for Ronald to say he had better things to do than talk to people that weren't coming was probably true.

AND don't forget when MC was mugged in the car at the apartment building while making a deal - she sure knew what to say on THAT 911 call didn't she? If you listen to that 911 and then go back to the 911 for Haleigh, its like listening to two different people.

When she was mugged/robbed the emotion in her voice speaks volumes! There is absolutely NO emotion on the 911 Haleigh call. Why is that?

And WHY... Why would anyone HANG UP on a 911 dispatcher. If they need help finding their daughter I would think, as aggravated as they may be at answering tedious questions, we would know that every bit of info is important to finding the girl!

It was very apparent to me that neither RC or MC wanted to be on that phone. Theyr were too preoccupied about themselves and their drugs.

And in the reports, is there any indication regarding the location of Jr? Was he asleep during all of this 'hooting and hollering' and carrying on by RC? Why wouldn't they both be concerned and have him right there with them? Oh, maybe they were concerned not to get him upset? (again, being totally facetious).

Respectfully edited. BBM: The fact that Ron didn't make the 911 call to report his missing child baffled me from the get-go. That, and Misty telling the 911 dispatcher that "our daughter" is missing. Did RC tell her to say that, or had Misty already decided that she was mother to RC's children?

As the case progressed, I came to realize that RC uses others to do his dirty work, and he cleverly hid behind Misty's "skirts" during that 911 call. IMO, RC hid behind TN's and AS's skirts his entire life, so it was normal and natural for him to let Misty do his dirty work. Obviously, RC started "using" Misty very early in their relationship, and I believe that he continues to "use" Misty from behind bars. Despite his exterior machismo, RC is a weakling. jmo

Well, honestly, I think it doesn't matter that they hung up. It's not like either of them was able to give the dispatcher useful information anyway. Probably she had better people to talk to.

A couple nights ago on our local news, they had a story of a 5 y/o boy who called 911 after his mom had fallen and hit her head. After revisiting MC & RC's call, I thought of this call and the huge difference.

911: "What's your emergency?"
Caller: "My mom fell and she's not waking up!"
911: "Is she bleeding?"
Caller: "Yes, on her head"
911: "What's your address?"
Caller: "**** Heming**** Lane in Litt*****. Can you come fast please?"
911: "The police and the fire department are on their way to your house right now. What's your name?"
Caller: "C***. What should I do?"
911: "How old are you, C***?"
Caller: "5. I need to help her!"
[ There's a voice in the background asking what to do, it was the boys 7 y/o cousin ]


It goes on a bit after that, but it's just interesting to see the difference. When interviewed the next day, the boy explained how him and his cousin were playing when they heard a loud noise. When they went into the kitchen, they found mom on the floor bleeding. Did he say all that in the call, though? Nope, he quickly stated what the problem was and clearly gave his complete address. And he was FIVE. Plus, his 7 y/o cousin is asking what to do to help.

I think it'd be really interesting to compare 911 calls made by people who ended up be guilty of whatever happened as opposed to those who weren't.

Wow, we all knew the 911 call wasn't the norm, but comparing it to this child's call is so telling. You might expect him to say, "I was playing and don't know what happened....... or I wasn't in the room with her, but..... He didn't feel the need to explain he's whereabouts prior to this call. The actions of an innocent person.

caller: Yes, ma`am. My name is (deleted) at (DELETED) .

911 OPERATOR: OK, ma`am. How can I help you?

caller: I woke up this morning and my daughter was not in the house! I don`t know if she walked out or -- I don`t know what`s going on, but she`s not here.

911 OPERATOR: Hold old is your daughter?

caller: She`s 5.

911 OPERATOR: She`s 5?

caller: Yes, ma`am.

911 OPERATOR: What time did you wake up? When did you last see her?

caller: I saw her at 5:30 last night.

911 OPERATOR: At 5:30 last night, is that when you put her to bed?

caller: Yes, ma`am. No, when she went back to bed.

911 OPERATOR: OK. That was 5:00 this morning. Is that what you`re telling me?

caller: Yes, ma`am.

911 OPERATOR: OK. Were there any doors open or anything like that?

caller: She knows how to unlock the front door.
