God love 'em. That's a precious story.

I know you probably don't remember I live in LA because I don't post much...but I'm fine. Just very distraught over what's happening. Trying to volunteer and help in any way I can. My God, children are dying in my state from hunger. :(

HI WISCer

It is awful and I don't think that anyone inside the USA doesn't feel the same as you even if not from LA.

I am glad your ok.
Any word on your friends and family?

Had a cousin and family "missing" for a while. But now they and all other family members are accounted for. Other than house damage all is okay.

I am very happy to hear that you and your family are ok. How bad is the house? Are you having any problems with food, etc?

Carl Edwards, Nascar driver and winner of this weeks BUSCH race, along with Kyle Busch, winner of this weeks Nextel Cup race, have both donated their winnings to the relief effort. This was Kyle's first win.
An added note regarding the race:

California Speedway is very near me and during the races our freeway system is jammed for a couple of days and we usually all complain.

BUT, at the gate this time they were getting donations from the droves of people coming in, and it was great. It still hasn't been reported how much was collected as of yet. I think it may have been in conjunction with Stater Bros Markets which has been collecting money all last week for the RedCross.

He was wondering if they will find bodies of people who may have been killed and dumped prior to Katrina in New Orleans as they are cleaning up. This may solve some missing persons cases, don't you think?
I was thinking about bodies of those who were killed during Katrina. Some people might have thought that would be a good time to get rid of someone and they were probably right.

oh darn, I missed oprah today. Will try to catch her at 7.

She insisted several times on seeing the inside of the superdome and finally Mayor Nagin made her state on camera that she would not hold anyone responsible if she was injured. On camera, it just looked trashed, much like the rest of the un-flooded areas and it just didn't capture the reality of course. It only showed a few seconds inside.

But it was a good show. Oprah at her best IMO, exposing/reporting on the bad and was able to capture some happy moments.

yep, just like 9/11 - a good time to get rid of a thorn in your side, if you are so inclined.
