I hope for an intervention for Amy W. Someone who was once an attractive tallented musician has been reduced to a irrational paranoid possibly brain damaged addict. Her only hope is long term care by those who love her and trained professionals and I think she will have not part in it.
Is she already to far gone?
I will say a prayer for her.
You know I think she has one of best voices ive heard in years, but its hard to watch this because its inevitable how its going to end up.
All change is self change and without that all the rehab and money in the world is not going to save her.
I have mixed emotions,I feel for her but I know so many people who struggle bravely day in and day out with all forms of adversity, financial, health problems personal misfortune and pasts far beyond anything Amy Winehouse has had to go through I guarentee you,
And yes,addiction.
Yet they do it and survive and triumph on a daily basis for no other reason then to make a decent life for them and thier children or thier friends or their community.
And they work hard at it.And they make sacrifices constantly.Real ones.
They dont get followed by paparazi,or end up on the cover of all the magazines or get paid truckloads of cash or get routinely slathered with enough flattery and compliments and positive regard and attention to last 50 people a lifetime.they just try to do whats right.
And here's Amy/Lindsey/Britney/whoever blessed out of the gate with everything and they piss it away out of sheer lazy self indulgence, and pathological self absorbtion.
Its hard to know how to feel.
You know your right. If only fame, talent and money could stop a person from hurting themselves like this then Amy Winehouse would be good to go.
Kline although the likelihood of Amy Winehouse dying a young death is reality it doesn't have to be ineviatable. Look at Robert Downey Junior, look at Eric Clapton, and I could go on and on. Sometimes in the darkest hour people pull themselves up.
Also, I don't think she was Blessed out of the gate. Actually I don't think any of the people you named came from old money. They've all worked very hard to achieve their fame. Comparing Amy Winehouse to other everyday people who have suffered addiction and beat it won't help anyone. In fact I think those very people would be rooting for this girl to "get it". Nobody just wakes up one day and says "I think I'd like to become a self-destructing crack addict".
I so feel for this girl and that she's in the spotlight suffering through this. Yes, it's a choice, but people in their right minds don't choose to live like that.
You know your right.
Clapton(A personal hero of mine and Downey are good examples.)
I dont think Winehouse has had the chance to gain the perspective life experience brings like some of the people I was refering to have.
And Im sure that is the crucial difference.
I hope she does manage to live long enough to gain that insight because she is extremely gifted in my opinion.
Stevie ray Vaughn is another example of someone who pulled themselves back from the very brink and thrived with his sobriety.
And speaking of perspective I havent lived in her shoes these past three years either so in spite of my knee jerk reaction at the end of the day Im
not really qualified to judge.
TV sound bites and tabloid shots shouldnt make us think we really know her or whats going on with her.
I wish her nothing but good Mojo.![]()
You're kindness is wonderful, Kline.
Huge, huge SRV fan here. Huge. God rest his soul. Talented, talented man. Time seems to have gone so fast since his accident. His music has kept him alive. In fact passed to a brand spanking new generation. I took that as my responsibility.
Mojo it is. Maybe we can wish enough good will for Amy it will come through. We need to send some to Scott Weiland as well.
Yes Scott Weiland is another incredible talent that is just an overdose waiting to happen.
I am a huge rock, classic rock etc fan. So many talented people we have lost due to drugs
