The Best Untainted Evidence-The Ransom Letter

  • #61
LI Mom, care to share where you got that information??

http://www.justicejunction.com/innocence_lost_jonbenet_ramsey_both_sides_stand_hard.htm

"The officer that was first on the scene, noticed that Patsy had a fully made up face and perfectly coifed hair. She had handled the so-called ransom note twice and John had touched it as well. The only identifiable fingerprints on the ransom note belonged to Patsy, John, and the technician at the lab that processed the note. "

I guess that's more BAD INFO that's floating around, huh?

I'm so rusty on this case, it's hard to remember what's fact & what's rumor. Arrgggghhhhh

a flashlight that has no prints on it, is one of the craziest things i have ever heard of,

1. first you need to buy it and prints will be on it from taking it out of the package

2. most of the time you need to put batteries in it although some come with batteries pre- installed - but not that many

3. then you need to use it - and more than likely kids use them and forget to turn the thing off which means you need to open it and replace the batteries
a few dozen times :)

that pesky obsessive intruder again cleaning up everything after he uses it

hmmmmm.. maybe some black sharpie marker prints on it from when patsy wrote the darn EPISODE in the DARK
:furious:

Well, black marks on the flashlight from the Sharpie, probably would have been explained away by Patsy, saying that the intruder accidently put the marks there. I think that the flashlight AND batteries were wiped down, because the Ramseys'....and ONLY the Ramsey's fingerprints were on them...flashlight and batteries. And that would not very well mesh with the intruder story, now would it? I believe that they wiped them both down and placed it in an obvious place, in the kitchen...to say that the intruder must have used it it and placed it there, after wiping it clean. The only problem with that is...the "intruder" brought no supplies with him, and he left in the dark. So, wouldn't he have needed that flashlight to see with? Wouldn't it have been OH so much easier, to just take it with him when he left...instead of taking even MORE time to wipe it clean, and the batteries? Taking it would have served two good purposes....to save time, and to be able to see in the dark. The "intruder" supposedly left though the same window in the basement that he used to come in by...using the suitcase to hoist himself up (even though it later came out that FLEET had moved that suitcase, looking for glass from the broken window), so he would have needed that flashlight to see in the basement with, but NOOOOOOO...he is SO kind as to bring it back up the stairs, clean it off and leave it on the counter. How nice of him...he sounds like a very tidy person, he even placed the Sharpie back in the pen holder where he found it. How SWEET!

What idiot would call friends to come over when kidnappers have their daughter and threatened to BEHEAD her if they contacted anyone?

Personally, I would be threatening LE ....to ensure they came very discretely!!! I would be SCREAMINMG for them not to come in marked cars !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good thought, Ames. This has always been how I've seen the "Listen carefully" line. He said it, she wrote it.
I do believe the ransom letter was done to try and explain to LE why there was a dead child in the basement of that home. (which the parents were betting on the cops finding later).
It was not enough for the parents to call 911 and say "our daughter has been kidnapped." They needed something material as proof.
I of course, as everyone knows, believes this letter was written by Patsy because of her journalism background.

Of course not, because they knew that they would be number one on the suspect list. They had to write that RN, to point AWAY from themselves. I don't believe that they ever intended the police to believe that it was done by some foreign faction...as the rn says...but, made it look like it was someone that knew them...and THEY pretended that it was done by a small foreign faction. They were not stupid...they knew that the police wouldn't buy that small foreign faction bull. John, even said that it was an "inside job". Why would he have said that, if he had wanted them to believe that some foregn terrorists were responsible? Yes, I too believe that it was written by Patsy...but, I also believe that John gave his input too.

Not just that: John claimed there Atlanta place was broken into in 2000. He gave a totally implausible description of the suspect. He claimed he'd left the door open and the guy got in that way.

WHAT?! Your kid's murdered under your nose, and you don't lock and bolt EVERY door and window for the rest of your life?!

The biggest piece of evidence or lack of in this case regarding the ransom note is the LACK of either John or Patsy's fingerprints. They can get "Touch DNA" off the long johns, but there are NO prints anywhere on that note? er...um.. letter?

Patsy also stated she didn't read the whole letter? Come on.... If your child was missing, wouldn't you want to find out why and who took her and isn't the only thing at that point to help the Ransom note? Never bought this from either parent ever. This was my #1 clue that John was involved. That along with the release of the 911 tape.

Someone was molesting this child, and they both covered it up.

Personally, I think that PR saying that she did not read the whole letter might be one of the few clear truths which came out of PR's mouth.

She didn't have to read the letter if she authored it...

LOL..yeah, he was neat and clean. SO clean that the ONLY evidence that he left behind was degraded (OLD) DNA...I am STILL wondering how he manage to leave OLD DNA. He was even so kind as to wipe JB down, redress her..and wrap her like a "papoose" (John's word) in a blanket. All of that ...PLUS he replaces the Sharpie and wipes down the batteries and flashlight, and leaves it for the Ramsey's, when he could have taken it with him. (Guess he didn't want to get charged with stealing too...if he had of been caught and arrested for the murder..) Neat, clean, tidy, doesn't shed DNA....wow...just what you want in an intruder.

Yep, she already KNEW what it said...why waste her time reading it? She had to spend her time practicing her "Lazarus Speech"...."Jesus, you raised Lazarus from the dead, please raise my baby". She probably recited that over and over....and then she got to perform it in front of an audience when John brought JB's body up from the basement. Shoot...she didn't have time to read that pesky ransom note...she had a script to learn.

Patsy's hesitation when it was announced she was found was particularly puzzling to me! I KNOW any parent would have leaped to their feet relieved expecting her to be perfectly fine!

And that he was trapped in the bathroom by the "intruder" (word intruder used lightly in this instance as well as in the JBR case in Boulder).

The absurdity of this is that every bathroom door which I have ever seen opens inward not outward. How the "H" could you be 'locked' in or 'tied in' your bathroom when the door opens inward???

"I got to thinking that this might not end up too good." The alleged robber took Ramsey's wallet, forced Ramsey into a bathroom, tied the door from the outside, and continued to ransack the house, police said."

I know that I would...but, the Ramsey's...they are...well.........different.
(You KNOW that if it had of been a REAL intruder...that they WOULD have had every single door and window lock and bolted...complete with a high dollar alarm system, they they NEVER turned off.) Speaking of which...I have never bought that story about JB accidently turning on the alarm, and them deciding to disconnect it, that sounds like a load of bull to me. Just an excuse for the alarm system not being on that night. Maybe JB did trip the alarm, when she was younger...but, I don't believe that they would have disconnected it for that reason.

I know...I posted on this a long time ago. That has always bothered me too. Fleet yells..."We found her! Call an ambulance". And she just sits her fanny there on the couch....not even budging. If that had of been me...(GOD FORBID) I would have thought..."he said call an ambulance, she must be hurt..I need to go to her, she needs me!!!!" And then I would proceed to knock everybody and everything out of my way to get to her. NO..Patsy KNEW...SHE KNEW....that JB was dead.

its called PUTTING a band aid on gushing wound

instead of teaching them how to NOT PLAY with the alarm system
just disable it - thats easier

or instead of spending time teaching them about going to the bathroom before bed time and learning how to wipe...
we just put diapers on them until they are 6-7 years old
MAYBE patsy wanted them to be astronauts --i dont know

i have never heard of it taking that long........

that house sounds like s stressful place to live

I've never been that interested in trying to figure out what particular words were intended to mean, or if the style was feminine or masculine. I've always analyzed the note in the larger cotext -

1. We have a body, and a RN. That shouldn't be. Even the dumbest kidnappers know the ransom won't be paid if the body is found.

So, either there was never really any kidnapping plan, or it "went bad" as so many people say. But even a dead body can be taken away, and it can be worth lots of money so long as the parents don't know she's dead. But the body isn't taken away.

It's difficult to argue that a kidnapper didn't have the opportunity to take her out of the house - because neighbors lights were on, or someone was driving/walking by. After all, the "intruder" got out, and away from the neighborhood undetected.

To me it's not credible that a peadophile/kidnapper just couldn't control his urges long enough to get her out of the house because -
-dead body's can still be taken and held for ransom, if that was part of the plan, and
-the Peado could have had hours or days of perverted activity with the girl as his captive.

Just for the reasons mentioned, I don't think the RN was "real" in the sense that there was ever an actual kidnapping plan.

2. Small Foreign Factions, be they AQ, IRA, SLA, etc. don't kidnap 6 year old girls and hold them for the whopping sum of $118k.

3. The amount - $118K- is too small. Kidnappers who knew that much about the family would have demanded much more.

Even if you want to beleive a kidnapper would be satisfied with 118K, the amount is too close to JR's bonus. If it was an actual kidnapper who wrote the RN, he'd be pointing police in his direction. How many people knew the amount of JR's bonus? Why would a kidnapper get police on his own trail?

I think it's more probable that the amount was 118K because it would get police looking at those who had reason to know of JR's bonus. An attempt to lead police away from the Ramseys.

4. The note seems to set up a meeting for delivery of the ransom. It talks of using electronics countermeasures (I'm paraphrasing) to detect radio transmitters/bugs, that type of thing. It's more likely the insturctions would something like, drive to such and such place, put the money under the rock, drive away.

5. People rarely kill someone's child for revenge. This isn't the Soprannos. JR wasn't a mafia Don. Even if someone felt they'd been screwed in a business deal, doing all this just to "get back" at the Ramseys is way way over the top. I don't buy it at all.

IMO, the note is pure staging.
