A murder happens right before a trip, but the murder has nothing to do with the trip.....

I am not surprised in the least this case has never been solved.

She was killed dead center in the middle of Mayberry with Barney Fife running the investigation, and the citizens of Mayberry speculated for the next 12 years(and counting).

It'll never be solved, and not because Patsy is dead either.

I always thought the trip the family was about to take held the most vital clues, and if anyone could figure out everything regarding that, the case would be solved. Someone didn't want them going on that trip. You think its a coincidence that she was killed right before that?

I believe the experts who found chronic sexual abuse of JB upon autopsy.And I believe the experts,like Holly Smith,who say JB displayed the signs and symptoms of sexual abuse.
So I don't think someone didn't want them going on the trip..it was not an important trip.As far as it being the night before,in the molester's mind,it could have been seen as the last chance to be alone w/ JB for awhile.
I have to wonder why they didn't just have the older kids come to their house in CO.Seems it would have been easier..but someone(s) didn't want it that way.

There's also the possibility that someone was either in a "relationship" with Jonbenet or she had a stalker. However, this discounts Patsy so no one ever bothers looking in that direction, including LE.

I'd vote for dysfunctional relationship w family member;chronic abuse is not done by intruders.
I do think LE and others have considered JR to be the perp,and perhaps they have more evidence on him than they can reveal at this time.

Could you(or someone) refresh my memory a bit on this trip? Sucks I don't remember all the specific details, but have always thought it was a vital clue and remember laughing when basically anything BUT this trip was mentioned in various theories, scenarios,etc. over the years.

See, now this is the line of thinking I've had since the murder happened. I never thought it was just some random intruder/kidnapper. Thats preposterous. Someone obsessed with her would have seen their life unraveling before their very eyes. The trip is going to take her away for God knows how long, and weren't the Ramseys considering moving from Boulder at the time? This would have drove a stalker/obsessor insane. He's losing the one thing he cares about. So, he waits until literally the last minute to kill her.

Her murder was most likely premeditated.

I think the older kids are pretty much a non factor, at least regarding the murder itself.

She was raised in a highly sexual environment. It wouldn't be a shock if she had been sexually abused by family and/or strangers for years. If memory served me correctly, she used to take her clothes off in front of strangers and ask, "Am I sexy?"

Not normal behavior for a six year old. She was definitely abused.

she could have been abused at one of those pagents by another mother or father or by another child and was told that they had to keep it secret

walk around and say "ohh no it was never a problem for her to be wetting her bed" COME ONE for crying out loud my daughter said at a very early age

From that point on JBR's costumes were reportedly 'toned down' to become 'more acceptable'.

Guilty or not in her murder, the R's used GROSS ignorance as parents in not only allowing such, but in encouraging it., IMO.

Buckethead, JR stated in interview that the trip to their home in Mich. was his idea. He said they had never had Christmas in Mich. and he wanted to do it this year. He said that PR complained about the weather and conditions in Mich as her input to discourage the trip. He said that, in the end, she finally 'got on board with the idea'. JR's two children MR and JAR were flying to Mich. to meet the R's to celebrate Christmas with them there.

the trip to Michigan was just a quick stop off before they went on their cruise.

How long would they be away? One week.... two weeks TOPS.... Burke has to get back to school.

I don't think there is any sense getting too carried away with making any implications about the Rs involvement based on this stuff.

The 6 year old beauty pageant is a world most of us knew nothing about, it therefore seems "weird", "inappropriate" etc. But there are other young girls involved in this, and as far as we know, most aren't being abused by their fathers or uncles, or neighbors, etc.

The one thing that really irked me about the pageant thing though is when Patsy was offended that the media/public focused on the 'questionable' pictures of JB.

That's the risk you run when you do something that crosses the line of good taste.....

Little girls made up to look like adults or people posing for nude pictures.... if you make a conscious choice to DO something, don't complain later if people judge your choices. If you truly believed what you did was FINE... it doesn't matter what other people say or think.

We know that John WAS uncomfortable with the '' factor in the pageants.... I think Patsy felt pretty guilty once the whole world saw her daughter made up like that, even though she tried to pretend it was all just innocent fun that JB enjoyed.
