I wonder why he would purchase gas twice in one day? For example, on 1-11-73 he purchased gas 2 times from 2 different stations, and on 1-12-73 he purchased gas twice from 2 more. That's 4 gas purchases in 2 days.

Wondering if any of these gas stations could be near HMB...

Okay, this must be a sign. Tracy Chapman just came on the radio...LOL. Did Waters have ANY dealing with UC - Berkeley?? Was the Regents - UC listed for eduction Berkeley by chance?
Some of these payments have a note: NDEA-SF (UC)

Does anyone know what is Emporium? There are several more check written for different amounts, and I was just assuming it was a clothing store.

Do any credit card statement's exist? Shouldn't they list a location, town or something for purchases on the account?

I believe it is a clothing store. High Fidelity comes up on a search as a magazine which was in existance from the early 50's through the late 80's.

I don't have the actual cancelled check, just what he wrote in the check register. One time its listed as Anna Christian Eifee _______, the next month is Anna Christian __ __, then the last time he listed Anna Christian Eifee Waters. It's just easier to keep them listed as one name when getting reports. If I listed them how he had them, they would show up in different locations.

thanks, that answers that question.

Wow! That is VERY suspicious! His gas use was usual very small (based on his total expenditure for gasoline divided by $.25 a gallon). To suddenly use more than a full tank two days in a row and happening days before Anna's disappearance is stunning!

The Emporium is a store like a Macy's or Sears.
Waters worked at a medical center that was operated by UC San Francisco, so the checks may have been for either work expenses or some sort of "continuing education".

What about "New Process Company"?? Clothing?

How big of a gas tank was inside a volkswagon???

"High Fidelity" magazine featured stereo products and "hi-fi" equipment.

Nancy in Canada has a good question. Why would he go to a Mazda dealer in Oakland if he owned a Volkswagon?

I just ran across a large deposit of $3000 on August 29, 1973.

There are more TWA checks after November. I will update when I plow thru entering the register info. Doogie and I are somewhat concerned a ticket could have been purchased in the month of January 1973 and charged on his credit card.

Aargh, (Annasmom taught me that word). A register book is missing from August 74-July 75

I suspect that these TWA checks are payment on a charge card. Note that there is a evidently a small charge in the middle of 1972 which is paid off within a couple of payments. Then there is a relatively large charge that starts to get paid off in Feb 1973 - a large charge for plane travel in January 1973. Hmmm...I wonder what that travel could have been for? And for whom?

I guess I would rather pay $15/mo versus $175/mo for child support!

A thought: If this charge is "suspicious" enough, LE may be able to get a warrant to obtain information about the flight such as destination and how many tickets were issued. And if any of the tickets were a "child's ticket". If we know a destination, it would help us focus our search for finding Anna today.

Folks, this may be big. We may be on the verge of a major breakthrough

Sent from Canada...

Jan. 10, 2001: TWA files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for a third time and agrees to sell most of its assets to American Airlines. The sale, which is subject to approval by the bankruptcy court, brings an end to the financially troubled TWA, whose roots can be traced back 75 years.

I saw that. AA is HQed out of Dallas, TX. I am looking into whether we can get AA to work with us and provide the info we seek without a warrant. If not, then will try plan B.
