Does anyone else have as many downright rotten and toxic family members as Meghan?
What is so wrong with them, what is missing from their own lives that they have to make it their life's mission to attack, torment and belittle her?
Likely jealousy from the siblings. It’s incredible how toxic sibling jealousy can be even among regular people. I’ve seen some crazy stuff.

Oh, families are so complex. What’s super toxic is all this airing it all in public.

Not that there haven’t been high profile stories before, like Gloria Vanderbilt. Her heiress story was a daily read in the papers. Or, Patti Hearst, another heiress story that had the country on the edge of their seats.

The Markle family issues read like some bad high school tragic/comic production. I guess it’s got it all. —Even if Samantha had some legitimate beef, she’s a blathering subterranean idiot about it.

The BRF is having some issues too... always sad when marriages with kids break up.

So the tabloids are very busy.

It is sad, disgusting, vile etc. etc. I think the toxicity could extend to the public as well. Clearly people have too much time on their hands. IMO

The Caroline Flack petition (to stop the media bullying celebrities) has over 700,000 signatures, which is a huge number for their campaigns. It will be interesting to see if it brings about any change in reporting laws, but I have no doubt Meghan and Harry have endured a similar hounding. Many of these gutless, faceless newspapers deleted all their vitriol against Caroline as the news broke of her death.

Caroline's Law | 38 Degrees

“To consider a law that would make it a criminal offence, not dissimilar to Corporate Manslaughter, for the British Media to knowingly and relentlessly bully a person, whether they be in the public eye or not, up to the point that they take their own life. Sections of the British press & media act with impunity, and more recently there have been a number of cases where they have sought to sensationalise the misfortune of individuals (mainly those already in the public eye, but not always so) to the catastrophic detriment of the individuals' mental welfare”

As Caroline herself quoted, shortly before she took her own life:

My sister and I had a long discussion during the height of the Samantha Markle coverage trying to figure out if any distant family member would sell us out if we became famous.

Its kind of remarkable given the pressure and fame around Kate Middleton that the most the press was able to dig up was a few scandals around her Uncle Gary but I can't recall any exposes from ex-friends and she took up with William so young, there weren't even any serious ex-boyfriends.

It might be an unpopular opinion but I'm not personally in favour of this. For example and to keep it Royal, if Andrew took his own life because of the way the media has treated him because of his Epstein connections should they be prosecuted? Epstein took his own life and I suppose the press "bullied" him in that they covered his arrest, trial etc.

A law like this IMHO incentivises taking your own life if you feel like you've been treated unfairly by the media. Like it or not, Caroline Flack was going on trial for domestic abuse and I would expect the same coverage of any celebrity accused of the same. I think to curtail press freedom like this would be detrimental.

I don't think it's about getting to the suicide/prosecution stage, it's about not incessantly criticising people in the first place.

Andrew, despite the horrible nature of the allegations against him, hasn't had anywhere near as much negative press coverage as Meghan. He hasn't been the subject of 90% of the tabloid stories about the royals, he hasn't had his every move ripped to pieces.

To quote another post that's currently going viral, and keeping it regal:
"we should fix each others crowns, not knock them off".

I'm all for this. I hope this petition is successful and we see some sort of change. Another person cannot be hounded to their death by the media.

People are forgetting that even Meghan's friends that she dropped like a hot potato have said the same things about her.
The family keeps talking because a) they're paid, b) their anger towards her runs deep, c) they don't like the public facade that Meghan has fed (unsuccessfully) to the public.

There's no jealousy, her family had a beef with her before she was engaged to Prince Harry.

You can dislike someone without being jealous of them.

I wish the entire Markle clan, including Meghan, would stay out of the public eye.

EXCLUSIVE: Queen BANS Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from using 'Sussex Royal' brand that cost them thousands of pounds to create because 'they simply cannot market themselves as Royals'

Queen BANS Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from using 'Sussex Royal' brand that cost them thousands | Daily Mail Online

This was the correct decision in my view they cannot tarnish the monarchy.

How did they not think this through? Did they just think they could do what they wanted?

Her Majesty The Queen has spoken!

I am shocked at how much people really believe the negative because it's in print. How would you react if your life was judged in the press and blatant lies were printed?

It's awful. I notice most of us British posters on this thread are currently fairly subdued. After Carline's suicide on Saturday, which as @CoverMeCagney said previously, was rapidly followed by the Daily Mail, Sun etc deleting articles where they had hounded her recently... I literally despise those rags even more now and to see their pathetic badly written articles just dumped on here incessantly...

Sharing the targeted vileness on here against H and M is just as bad as writing it in the first place IMO. You are spreading it. End of.

Hopefully the UK will lead the way if Caroline's law grows wings.

As the lady herself posted just days ago, in a world where you can be anything, be kind.

And if you can't be kind, I'm scrolling on by.

I find it really, really difficult to read some peoples posts on this page (and got given a thread TO because of my responses). The press do write negative press about royalty, but if there is something positive they also print it. They are a company making money selling news. What is saddening is the posters who criticise others as bullies merely for sharing that news article, or accuse individuals of being malicious, they may not have shared the article for either of those reasons.
Ps if anyone has Prince Harry’s and Meghans personal email, would you send them this link.
