Meghan and Harry had come to an agreement with the Queen that their organization, when it is announced this Spring, will not be named Sussex Royal Foundation.

It added: 'The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ''SussexRoyal'' in any territory post Spring 2020.

Bad attitude aside apparently an agreement has been reached.

Career Ideas For Prince Harry

The statements about Prince Harry and the military had me thinking that had he and Meghan planned their exit in a patient and respectful manner, it might have been possible for the Queen to create a paid military related position for Prince Harry where that would be his only role.

He wouldn't have to be a full-time working royal, but could still earn a decent income. He would remain out of the public eye on a regular basis and be low-key. He would be able to do the position from the U.K., Canada, and other Commonwealth countries.

Why were Meghan and Prince Harry in such a rush?

To do a proper exit from his traditional role and duties should have been at least a 2-3 year process, by for example, reducing his duties slowly throughout the year, he and Meghan figuring out how to actually become financially independent, where to live (in their own home instead of using someone else's property), etc.

He is really setting himself up for public failure and embarrassment by being in such a rush.

If he truly wanted privacy and to step back from royal duties he could have easily purchased a nice, small home in Canada or the U.S. and taken a job as a diplomat. 9-5 hours with sweet perks.

There has been way too much talk about $$$. More money = less privacy. You earn your money by being public.

Meghan Markle's Sussex Royal brand dreams shattered as Queen drafts in top lawyers

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been told they cannot defy the monarch's ban and keep using Sussex Royal as the Queen makes an unprecedented move outlining the case enshrined in UK law banning the use of the word 'royal' for financial gain

Meghan Markle's Sussex Royal dreams shattered as Queen drafts in top lawyers

It’s terrible if Her Majesty has had to do this to get through to them.

Is it just me or did anyone else not like the name "Sussex Royal"? It makes me think of Crown Royal Whisky rather than actual royalty.

I think they're well shot of it, just be "Harry and Meghan", thats what people know them as, Sussex Royal wasn't really a recognisable brand yet or ever I imagine.

Going forward they're not using HRH Duke and Duchess of Sussex but is Harry still going to be referred to as "Prince"?

He'll always be known as Prince Harry here in the UK no matter what. I dont think we go in so much for the HRH or Duke/Duchess business. Diana was always Princess Di. William is quite often referred to as Wills! Katherine is always just Kate, or Kate Middleton actually. It's only really the media or formal situations where that protocol is observed. I honestly dont think it means anything to the public here, if people like the royals (and don't assume all Brits do, by any means, unfortunately) we use terms more affectionate.

My great grandma referred to Prince Charles as "Charlie Boy" :D. I distinctly remember a family gathering as a child with people scratching their heads wondering who she was talking about. Bless her heart.

SussexRoyal reminded me of that line in Pulp Fiction when Travolta and Jackson talk about getting their favorite “Cheeseburger Royale”.

SussexRoyal is a pretentious handle, and an obvious attempt to separate and compete with Kensington Royal which is the umbrella for the whole BRF.

Jumping off your post meggieg.

I do believe H&M are victims of themselves, the belief that some PR strategy will compliment their chosen headlines of “change the world” “smush the patriarchy” or whatever.

That all went south so fast because while there was all this SussexRoyal plotting based on the notion that H&M were so much more modern and popular than the other members of the BRF, Meghan most especially failed to get to know her potential constituents, the British people. —Ironically, whose support they need most as a springboard.

Meghan went for the adoration of Beyoncé’s Bea Hive constituents, I’m thinking of the portrait of Meghan wearing the crown as a backdrop with Bea and JZee smiling on. This is the realm where everyone calls everyone My Queen.

The self congratulatory, cringe worthy IG British Vogue video just feels like some high school clique affair. I kept thinking how old is this woman?

Harry will always be Prince Harry, but I see just how protected he’s been.

They blew it. Here in the USA we have successful peeps like Bezos who just gave 10 Billion $$$$$ to Climate Change crisis efforts. And he’s just one of many super successful business enterprises and philanthropists we have here.

If H&M want to wade into save the world woke messaging foundation they are going to need some serious armor because quite frankly, I think it’s fair to say the majority is fed up with being told how to behave and what to do.

When you lose the trust you get the cynical. These two do not have the experience, talent or skill, and are naive to think they can throw a fancy Royale title on it, and start at the top.

And it shows. I agree totally that no PR firm worth their salt would have ever handled a website roll out or cutesy instagram account like theirs.

I know this sounds a bit catty, but I figured out what turns me off about Meghan — it seems she has studied Diana extensively and her attempts at emulating Diana’s bashfulness, all the doe eyed posing and playing with the hair gestures in front of the camera have backfired. So has the run from the paparazzi mis en scenes.

The other thing that’s backfired is in the vain attempt to compete for ‘most popular in the class’ it has actually helped bring the spotlight back to the BRF, the Queen, Britain and all the reasons why the world loves and reveres them.

I'm not sure "the world" loves and reveres the BRF, but I do believe most of the world likes them better than MM.

I wonder why MM/PH decided they will not be doing a charitable foundation.

^^ Thank you, maggieg.

I agree with others, this over sharing about precedence, and jurisdiction is low rent.

I’m not sure what’s going to be more difficult for Meghan, facing England, or facing the members of the BRF next month.

I will be shocked if MM ever sets foot in the UK again. There will be some excuse at the last minute.

Prince Charles oversees The Prince’s Trust. It’s very successful. His wisdom on the environment is shining in the spotlight right now.

Princess Diana brought the whole world a message about HIV without saying a word. The image her cradling that adorable baby said it all.

I think Charles especially tried to give them as much room as possible for a partnership of ideas. It was also an opportunity to learn from excellence. Don’t know what went so awry but something took an exit stage left.

I think the work is great if you can get it, what an opportunity. Well, especially for history buffs.

I think QE has handled everything really well. -Much respect to her.

How could one person (M) cause so much havoc in such a short period of time??

I don't think we're allowed to answer that. :p:D

I wonder why MM/PH decided they will not be doing a charitable foundation.

Someone probably told them you need like a billion dollars as most “family foundations” are started by extremely personally wealthy people like industrialists and bankers. Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Trust, Carnegie Endowment, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The ONLY exceptions I can think of are the Clinton and Obama Foundations - 2 former Presidents who don’t need billions since their endorsement and support are what people are looking for.

But that’s why this is kind of frustrating to me. It’s just PR. Why insist on calling it a “Foundation” at all in the first place if you’re going to have to walk it back. They don’t need to make these public announcements. Just do what you’re going to do and then have an announcement.

Honestly people just want pictures of them and their baby- not the details of the legal structure of their organization. Just post some Archie pictures on Instagram every few weeks and everyone’s happy.

The queen has spoken - I don’t think this was anticipated at all by the PR/Advisors that work for PH - rather sad - did they think the royal family would just roll over for all of this Sussex royal branding ? jmo

Has she tho? Or is it perception plus media drama?

This is how I see it:

Mr and Mrs Prince Harry decided the royal life was not for them, so they relocated overseas with their baby.

To quote Miranda/Meryl Streep - that's all :p

It is really nice tho that we seem to have reached a kind of entente cordiale on this thread. It feels friendlier to me, agreeing to disagree, and the nastiness has gone. Much happier place :)

Edited typo - headache from hell today

HKP, you pose a good question. It looks like havoc to me but then again I am getting information second hand.

Hope you feel better - I had a killer headache yesterday and just a small headache today.

Thanks Kensie. I'm hoping it's a weather change causing it. We need less rain more sun!
