UK taxpayers pretty adamant they don't want to pay it either. Quit the job and lose the perks.

We'd rather pay the 50 pence a year than see him shot dead in the USA, but thank you for worrying about it on our behalf. God only know why he'd want to live there with so many haters.

BREAKING NEWS: The US will NOT pay for Harry and Meghan's security in Los Angeles, says Donald Trump and insists 'they must pay!'

In a tweet on Sunday, Trump said: 'I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!'

From the article....

But Harry's exit from the Royal family means he is no longer considered an 'international protected person' and so these rules don't apply.

Secret service is for the political arena. They don't fall in that category. I'm sure the rug swept under H and M's self entitlement was swift

Yes, but my point was did they actually request if the USA was willing to pay for security? I doubt it. I don’t think so. And, now it just looks like a mud sling fest in a mean tweet. It is embarrassing and illinformed. And don’t we have other things to do over here in the middle of a pandemic?

Well H did get his feet wet when he insulted political figures in the crank call scandal.

We still wouldn’t pay. —I think that no longer protected class means that the British taxpayers don’t have to pay for their security.

My quote was referring to his non diplomatic status in the US so we are off the hook. The bank of Dad is still running in first place unfortunately

Harry’s not the leader of a country. He’s just a wayward prince whose opinions got leaked.

—I would have thought we’d be more diplomatic because of Her Majesty’s feelings, and how she is so revered by us.

I'm sorry, did MM Have security when she was an 'actress'? Maybe she can borrow some of the Kardashian security people. You want it, YOU pay for it. In LA/Hollywood they are just another face in the crowd. If they stopped putting themselves in the media, they'd be forgotten and could blend in like all other 'celebrities'.

Good lord... I was not aware that H&M had asked the USA to pay for their security? It was a rumor?

And oh my goodness they don’t deserve that treatment. Shameful.

Yes it is a rumour/speculation, there is no proof they have asked for the US to pay anything.

The president is no friend to the UK. He is hated here.

Sadly some of our posters have got very worried about it, bless their hearts. Luckily their minds have been put at rest and they can now save their 25 cents a year for something else.

Yes it is embarrassing mud-slinging, especially given we have a global crisis.

You would think, huh?

Not our country's responsibility. UK needs to handle it. We didnt pay for a princess from Sweden when she lived in NY. Your right, its not his fault he was born in the RF but we are not a commonwealth country and we are not responsible for him or his wife. He chose to walk away and he has issues, greedy ones... JMO

I'm assuming your in the US? I never said the US should pick up the bill. The UK should 100% but only for their security they should fund the rest of their lifestyle themselves.

We don’t have royalty here in the US but we have plenty of very, very rich people who pay for miniature armies of private security services. I’m genuinely surprised any American would think a rich and famous person would have trouble obtaining armed security in the most armed country in the world. Thank God we don’t have to worry about it anymore, I was losing sleep.

Haha, well you can sleep like a log now that's all cleared up :D
Hope everything is ok on your side of the pond.

Just stop the perpetual back and forth sniping over PH and MM that is ongoing in this thread.

Opinions, everybody's got one. State it and move on. It is not necessary to address each and every little post with the subtle and not so subtle snark just for the sake of disagreeing. This is not your own private thread for discussion. It is a public thread and this antagonistic, inflammatory style of posting is driving away other members and guests from this thread and is uninteresting and unproductive. It is causing members anxiety when that is not the purpose of any thread on Websleuths.

PLEASE learn to scroll and roll and/or use the Ignore feature. That will make your lives to much easier, and the lives of our Mods and Admins who have to filter through all the Alerts coming in from each "side" when we are all having to deal with many other active and fast moving threads.

Thank you.

How to use online virtual reality experience to see places such as Buckingham Palace and Palace of Holyroodhouse from the comfort of your home

Why not explore somewhere new? Royal fans, in particular, are given the opportunity to catch an intimate glimpse inside the Queen's residence Buckingham Palace. Although the iconic royal palace is typically preserved for guests and paying visitors, anyone can get a peek inside the landmark from the comfort of their own home with Google's virtual tour.

Buckingham Palace
The online virtual reality experience takes viewers into some of the palace's lavishly decorated rooms including the state rooms, which provide the setting for ceremonial occasions, and the ballroom, where investiture ceremonies are carried out by the Queen and other senior royals. Starting at the Grand Staircase, the tour gives an insight into the history of the palace, as well as offering a 360⁰ view of the landmark's ornate décor and incredible artwork. The tour continues through the Throne Room, the Picture Gallery and the Ballroom, before concluding in The White Drawing Room – where a secret door leads to the Queen's private apartments.

I might pop round after dinner.

Think I would like Balmoral best, up in my most favourite country in the world or maybe Windsor castle (the only RF residence I have seen up close).

Buckingham Palace wouldn't be my choice of home if I was the queen, bang in the middle of London, all that traffic and pollution.

11 royal family pets that lead lives of luxury

The pets of monarchs live way more lavish lives than any regular pet (or even regular person) does.

From personal butlers to private chefs, gourmet cuisine, official painted portraits, private air travel, and ruby-encrusted sculptures made in their likeness, royal pets are living the life of luxury.

Some cute 'n' floofy stuff to take our minds off the all the horrible things going on.
I loved that photo of the Queen leaving for Windsor castle with her dorgi by her side. That little dog looked very regal! :D

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry 'Have No Plans to Ask U.S. Government for Security Resources' After Move to L.A.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources,” the pair’s spokesperson said in a statement. “Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Good. I wish them well and am glad they're going to pay for it themselves or have worked out a non taxpayer funded source.
Wonder who asked him? Someone must have
brought the subject up with him unless he reads the Daily Mail etc.
