What grandparent can't relate to near death experiences from missing their grandchildren?

I would just love to be able to volunteer there. It seems like a rather challenging climate, though, exposed to wind and sea and rather cold and rainy.It is, but I thought it was his - turns out he just stayed there once in 2010.
Interesting link to real Royal properties though - I'd love to look around the Castle of Mey with all those nooks and crannies and stairs and turrets to explore.

I have a romantic idyll of moving up there, somewhere. I can totally see the appeal for royals. The downside for me is I get eaten alive by midges and Scotland of course does suffer with them in some places. Plus it's warmer here down south, but still...I would just love to be able to volunteer there. It seems like a rather challenging climate, though, exposed to wind and sea and rather cold and rainy.
