Meghan had some world connections before she met Harry, her work at the UN is highlighted in this article.

Perhaps the optics of hiring HRC’s former staff has not gone over too well with some people? What I read at the time was this woman has dual citizenship US/UK and was very experienced. And, the article points out they (both Harry & Meghan) hired an all female staff.

Now, with the rampant press and rumors Meghan’s running for president. Ha! And, I don’t know where ‘transforming the monarchy’ came from but their PR has gone into the weeds.

We know Meghan and Harry identify themselves as rather woke, and advocates of women’s, children’s, animal and environmental rights, and mental health.

What’s not happening, nor will it ever happen is an American ideal of feminism, or political leanings of same, taking over the Monarchy. Monarchy is neutral and steeped in history. Roles are very proscribed. Her Majesty actually strikes me as one fierce independent thinker, and a very fair person.

There are some high level people advocating for Meghan and Harry. I just don’t view it as some kind of hidden politically explosive agenda.

Oh, absolutely! I greatly admire many a politician on both "sides." I can vehemently disagree with a person's politics and still really like them. This phenomenon of judging people based on who they vote for is weird, IMO.

Meghan recently spent time with Ivanka Trump at a mutual friend's wedding, they obviously (and unsurprisingly) move in the same circles. They probably get along with Hilary and that's why she was invited round.

I do feel as though she is a very politically driven person, that's not a criticism, but if she wanted to pursue this it would a conflict of interest with her royal duties. I don't suppose it would be an easy position to be in.

I think Meghan has her strong opinions and as an American I’ll say it’s hard not to, right now. And she was vocal with her opinions before she married Harry... And for her opinions, she also got some blowback in a “nasty” tweet from our president right before the U.S. state visit to U.K. last June.

But she’s not a political science major, or a political activist. She’s a communications major, an actress, a blogger, a fashion critic, and an advocate for volunteering for higher causes which she has done throughout her life.

That doesn’t scream politics to me. But you never know...

I would think one of the clearest boundaries that she had to consider before marrying Harry is the separation of politics from the Monarchy.

This is an absolute disgrace I am shocked Stella McCartney does this given how supportive she is about animal rights. It must be awful making clothes all day in difficult conditions that you will never be able to afford.

This is a huge problem with globalism. Economies are significantly different, depending on culture and many other factors. Everyone wants everything at as low a cost as possible, and in a global economy, there are many workers whose livelihoods depend on the pittance of a dollar or two. If there is no protection for a local economy, this is what happens.

Also, for buyer and seller to be far removed from each other, who is to know what's really happening on the other end? There are usually many middlemen, and I firmly believe that much of the first world's products are made by actual slaves in the third. I don't know what the solution is, except that unfettered globalism doesn't work.

We can all try our best to purchase "fair trade", etc. but that, in itself, creates its own problems -Fair trade items are affordable only by the middle and upper classes.

That kind of goes both directions. Both women seem very similar in their beliefs and style of doing things, but it's a similarity that would make both of them extremely competitive. They each are "Queen Bee" type personalities not fond of sharing the spotlight. JMO

Oh to have been a fly on the wall during that meeting. Much smiling and gushing and sharp elbows.

ETA: have met Hillary on several occasions and spent a little time around her.

I think the Queen should have a long chat to Ol’ Megs because heaven help the royal family, as we knew it, when our queen steps down.

It's funny how people see things differently! Some see the DoS as wonderful, others as the opposite. I must confess here that I don't care for any of the royals; however, the DoS especially. I thought from the beginning that acting/celeb is the worst CV for a "job" within the royal family!

However, they can all be fun to "watch", and I just accept it that people have very different, even polar opposite, opinions of the newest member.

people that I know from New York think she is brilliant, caring and charismatic. Differing views by differing people.

I'm not hard pressed to believe that she has political aspirations. Good for her, but the Royal Family and political careers do not mix.

I’m not sure if the Duchess of Sussex has political aspirations. I get the impression she wants to do good work and highlight causes with the poor and disadvantaged but whether that will work with the public when she lives in a big house, travels by private jet and wears Givenchy I do not know. I now think a lot of the negativity towards her is jealousy especially from women I don’t think it is discrimination.

This Prince Andrew interview tonight (Saturday) on BBC1 is going to be disaster and not going to help his reputation one bit. Apparently no questions are going to be off the table but the BBC are a bit biased when it comes to the royals in my opinion. I’m not expecting the BBC to interrogate him and give him a grilling.

The previews show the Prince denying having any memory of the photo (with Ghislaine in the background) being taken or even meeting the young Lady who is accusing him of having sex with him more than once. Apparently Her Majesty approved this interview but I don’t know why. The general public won’t believe him no matter what he says. He has done irreparable damage to his reputation and this scandal will haunt him till the day he dies.

I wish we could get an analysis of his body language in the interview from someone like Dr. Lilian Glass it would be very interesting.

This is a very interesting article about some documents that have been filed in the H&M DailyMail case and what they are highlighting as false stories like some about the Frogmore renovations, etc. I think we all know that some of the DM stories are made up or exaggerated but what I found really interesting was that by not claiming all of them are absurd, are they confirming some of them?

So does that mean that they're confirming the DM claim that all the other staff (secretary, nannies etc) that they alleged left because MM was difficult to work for is true?

They're also bringing stuff like the baby shower and the guest list for the baby shower in to question, surely they will be asked to provide a guest list and cost breakdown for the baby shower etc to disprove the DM's allegations etc.

Kate Middleton is to team up with former Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry for a one-off Christmas TV special, it has been reported.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 37, will be guest of honour on the 84-year-old television presenter's BBC1 Christmas show later this year.

they are describing the process which she must go through. She gets nothing special because she is married to a Royal.

I think what she has applied for is a visa. She would need a long stay visa in order to stay in England.

I imagine she got a year visa and has to reapply every so often. Yearly, perhaps? Then after three years of living in England she can apply for citizenship but she has to take a citizenship test and pay the fees.

She will then have dual citizenship
