I think people do get caught up in the drama if they let themselves, and I know it's hard to stay out of it with all the media, as you say, in the UK.
I believe we can turn this trend around on this site easily. The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. Maybe our supportive and non-reactive response to negative forces will show others that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex deserve better and more than what's being done at present from multiple external forces.
If we, as a body of people in the world, do not give polite space and time to straighten out some issues that have come up then Harry, Meghan and those people they choose to interact with privately could face very negative effects on either one of them or their baby in personal ways not related to their popularity but to others in their world who do not wish them well and who would seek to divide and upset them. They are newlyweds expecting a baby, and I believe there is a reasonable expectation that they will be treated with courtesy and dignified respect.
Although Harry has matured, he's still not a stalwart man emotionally.
I believe he's having a difficult time with the negative things, especially the death threats on the KP official website, or SM account, and certainly it has to be stressful for his new wife, who has not invited conflict into their lives.
Harry lost his mother, due to, in some measure, she and those she was with being rushed and pressed. The lack of best decisions by many people led to multiple factors which rushed her headlong to her death. All people have limits of what they can withstand and what will break them, if only for a short time. There's a chance a chain of very tragic events could happen again, or that Harry and Meghan will be derailed in some ways because of the negativity that continues unabated. . Not the same events, of course, but perhaps bad decisions made because of the external stressors of the tabloids, the cameras, the TV cameras, and screaming fans and some very vocal dissenting people who need to find the peace of silence.
In this case, it seems there may also be recent death threats and other very negative and threatening things said and known to this young couple. That's just wrong.
I worry for them, as the parent of a son Harry's age, and I wish the very best for them now and always. The best I can do is to not be negative or even to click on the stories about them in the press. To just let it run its course and let those particular people who are trying to hurt Meghan run out of things to say about her past in their orbit.
I have a quite remarkable Royal analogy to what grace under pressure is. . Would that each critic or commentator on H and M could be just like Queen Elizabeth on her one trip to Morocco, which she much later called " the trip from hell" due to the lack of respect for her schedule and even her physical comfort. She was left out in blistering hot sun for hours by the king. There's a photo of her, and it's a good example of what happened when she was waiting for the Moroccan royalty to finally stop fighting long enough to be hosts on her only visit to their country.
In the photo of Queen Elizabeth, taken in 1979, as I recall, she's sitting in a chair outdoors, uncovered by a canopy or even an umbrella. She's not smiling, but neither is she broken down in weeping and wailing and ringing the press the press to complain. She's steady and silent in the midst of a palace and country in turmoil. She did not add to their upheaval but likely was a visible example to all who saw her quiet dignity and lack of complaining, then retelling her complaints.
We know of the difficulties of the trip from her former staff members, but she's not sugar coated the generally tough conditions present at the time of her visit.
Ever since I saw that photo and read about her grace under extremely poor conditions not of her making at all, I've hoped that the backbone of total grace and ignoring the temporary situation in favor of the big picture could be followed in modern times.
If we believe that power of the press is controlled by the monetary response of the public, which it largely is, then we'll realize the harm that could befall anyone caught up in so much turmoil.
I wish the couple peace and inner relaxation, the continued freedom to be themselves in a manner befitting their titles, and an end to external forces of friction and anger from all and any external factors, whether family, friend, foe or tabloid reporters.
