This was an enjoyable link, thank you for sharing it. I think there were only three that I didn't really care for, and that's due to my style preferences and nothing on her choices. All 3 looks fit well and were flattering on her.

She really does know how to dress in a way that is elegant/sophisticated yet approachable, age and position appropriate, fresh and flattering.

I have a question - someone mentioned above that Kate will make a lovely Queen. How come Prince Phillip isn't a "King"? And when Charles becomes King, Camille will be the Queen?

One's holiday is over! Queen boards a train at King's Lynn as she heads back to London following her 52-day winter break in Sandringham

I don't care for that coat at all. Maybe it's prettier in real life but those horizontal stripes and the huge stripes in the other direction for the pockets just don't look flattering IMO.

Nice to see HRH without a hat. She looks like she means business in this photo.

ETA in other photos in the DM article, more of the skirt is seen. It has pretty kick pleats in the front.

Good question, and I hope one of our UK 'sleuthers will provide a full report. In the meantime, this is interesting:

Why isn’t Prince Philip King?

Because a King is ranked higher than a Queen and if he were King he would be ranked higher than Queen Elizabeth

I feel so bad for Meghan. So many changes in a short span to adapt to. Then there is her "Family". I truly hope she can find some measure of joy during this special time. I'm so glad she has her Mom, she appears to be a lovely lady.

Springb16 answered the King bit. And as for Camilla....well... Diana would have been known as Queen Diana had the marriage lasted but due to the strong public feeling about Camilla (20 years ago) I think the palace issue a statement saying Camilla would not be called Queen.

Personally I think it should be made equal, so Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip, King Charles & Princess Camilla, King William & Princess Catherine. I also think only a monarch (or future monarch) should call their children Princes and Princesses. Harry's in the same position as Andrew, whose daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are the last 'non-direct' princesses of their generation, and I don't think they should be.

Sexist!

(the monarchy, not you :p)

Queen Elizabeth is the daughter of a monarch and is herself a reigning monarch. Her husband cannot share the reign of monarchy with her and would not be called a 'King' unless he was a king in his own right.

Therefore, he is a Prince of the realm that she is monarch over.

Hope that helps.

If Phillip was a 'king' in his own right, he could be called king.
Marrying a Queen doesnt make you a king, it makes you a prince of HER realm. lol

Yes, I think he'd like to be in charge too. Too bad, so sad.

I always felt sorry for Diana. Barely out of a very sheltered environment, and set up for Charles. I don't think he even tried to have a real marriage with her. And Camilla certainly didn't help much.

Agree, it was basically an arranged marriage.

Maybe Kate will loan her stylist to Meghan.

I know I have read 2 articles that state Meghan does not have a stylist. Her choices are her own. Catherine I feel has much more of a duty to present than Meghan does. I think Meghan is adhering to the respect dress code. No short hemlines, wearing hose now, no plunging necklines. IMO. I'm good with that.

Agree, it was basically an arranged marriage.
Considering that he was at least vaguely familiar with her because he'd dated her sister, which obviously wasn't a love match, I believe he picked her out because of her blueblood family tree, her youth ( the virginity issue which was reported in the US as still being a factor in the 80's), and of course, her absolutely natural beauty. Even when she was a caregiver to a child or children at 17-18, it was clear that she was very pretty and would grow into a great natural beauty.
( I'm aware that her hair was professionally lightened, but that's not what I mean at all). Diana had marvelous bone structure, flawless skin and incredible eyes which are all so clear in her earliest photos released as soon as she was known to the public because of their courtship, then engagement and fabulously extravagant wedding and so on and so forth.( I have my copy of her last magazine cover before her death, although I really can't look at it, even now, and she was so stunning in a casual high neck sweater in a B&W photo.)

Then, when they did meet, she, extremely shy, asked him a very kind and thoughtful question about missing his great- uncle and personal mentor, Lord Mountbatten, who was murdered by an IRA bomb just a year or so previous.
I believe her shy, kind consideration of his feelings was what touched him most, and pushed him from the " Nice girl. Maybe one day." to a very fast engagement.

I wish they had been more compatible, even if it was an arranged marriage in some aspects, and formed a loving and lasting bond. She'd be alive, we'd have had her in this world for the past 20 years and going forward. She and Prince Charles might well have grown into a loving, compatible, faithful couple for all his life, which would have been so wonderful.
Funny future king George, darling Charlotte, and little Louis would know a fine, loving, generous grandmother. Kate would have a true blue RF companion and friend as well as a still- young and fun mother in law.

Most of all, BOTH of her sons would have had someone who didn't handwave their activities like Charles has admitted he did when they needed guidance and support. This is especially true for Harry, who has said in interviews that he really doesn't remember all that much about her as far as many specific events in his childhood due to his young age when she died. I think he would be a much different person, confident and with a great deal of common sense and self- direction, had she had a hand in his child to teen to adult life.

I STILL can't look at a photo of her or discuss her without thinking " If only" and my eyes tear up. There'll never be another English Rose who surpasses what she represented, the good she did for worldwide acceptance of HIV+/ AIDS patients, which definitely raised both awareness and funding for major research which has changed and extended many lives incredibly, and so many wonderful charities of which she was the world's most influential royal patron during her lifetime. Long may she be remembered for the unselfish love she gave to the least fortunate in full measure for as many years as were hers to live.

There are many famous people who met Diana, and "tear up" when she is mentioned. I think that is significant. She is remembered for being authentic, something very difficult to obtain in her situation.

"A Candle in the Wind" is one of my favorite songs.
