This whole pregnancy has been a media circus. The stories changing every day, friction between the prince brothers, the constant holding the stomach, the constant horrible clothes - good or bad it is all publicity.

Local news here is U.S. just said they will let us know when MM goes into labor.

My prediction is April 30th. Come on little baby, your WS family is excited for you to be born.

I have ancestors from Cornwall, but yeah that Stargazey Pie, yeah, no thanks.

Now of course y'all understand that we Scots serve the Scotch before the Haggis, right?

Queen Elizabeth honors Kate Middleton with highest rank

Edit: Camilla already has one. Congratulations to Kate. She has really worked hard to represent the Queen.

She's not really put a foot wrong, has she! I think this past year she has really shone, she's represented the royals beautifully. She seems to have lost the matronly look and become a bit more "fun" Kate. If I've any criticism I think she's lost too much weight, but she's still gorgeous and is fast becoming one of my favourites.

Now, if we can just get this baby out, and stop Wills & Harry titting about having (alleged) fall outs, all will be well in the world of Windsor.

IMO, this is just a waste of money/time/effort that all comes from the British taxpayer and means nothing outside of the RF. Its as good as getting a silver star from his granny. Who, other than members of the family, would even know what it means??

Does it go along with a request for a fourth child? A reward for standing by her man after this 'Rose' falling out?

Time to re-assess a lot of this 'stuff' within the RF once the Queen shuffles off this mortal coil. IMO

Don't mince your words, JDG :D

OK. :D

I just remember that before Meghan came along, Kate was Dolittle, Waity Katie etc.

She's a bit too Stepford Wife for me but if she's happy with Silver Stars, I'm all for it. LOL

I do think they'd last longer if they were a 'bicycling' monarchy like their other European cousins. i.e. Denmark, Norway RFs.

Nothing to stop them from working for a living, is there?? IMO

Kate is always on point, she takes her job serious and understands the need to project a positive reflection for the royal family. This is necessary for the monarchy to survive. And, she is a great mother, too!!!

She is a bit Stepford, but she has to be. Must be hard having to live up to the Queen!

One of our school mums is the vicar's wife, a veritable pillar of the community, she's sooo NICE and calm and smiley. But a little part of me would love her to turn up harassed, late and shouty one day, with unruly children and yoghurt spilt on her 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. I imagine this is what it's like knowing Kate.

From what I've read, the RF brings in more revenue than is paid out. That does not include revenue to shopkeepers, airlines, hotels, etc. Lots of us in the US come to England to do the RF, thing.

Much harder to be a vicars' wife!! That's not an enviable job at all and certainly doesnt pay what the RF get for doing not much. Cut a few ribbons, wave and smile for an hour.

You probably will never see the vicars' wife 'shouty' or late. Perhaps the spilt yoghurt, if she doesnt have a spare top in the car. ;)

May I ask what doing the RF thing entails? I know a lot of Americans visit the palaces and take in some history but else happens?

Every country has tourism, lots of it. No one gets to 'meet' the RF or have tea with them, so I'm not sure what you mean.

People come to the USA for lots of reasons, historical, to see the national parks, beaches etc.

As for the idea that the RF 'bring in' money, that just cannot be true. They are the richest people in Britain and create nothing. They do not work for a living, do not produce nor serve anyone anything. All of their expenses and much more comes from taxation of the British citizens.

Well, they wave and cut ribbons, tell people that that is work but come on.....what do they do for anyone?

Having a monarchy is a novelty in 2019, from a mediaeval construct when they DID rule, go to war etc.

That's when they accrued most of the countryside, plenty of wealth and a lust to continue the lifestyle.

BUT, is it reasonable in 2019, through heavy taxation when many in the land have no place to sleep and even hard working people struggle to pay their own bills? Just a question that needs asking.

Wishing the Sussex' a quick and relatively painless birth, soon.

I am a fan of the RF but a modified version.

None of that nonsense please we'll stick with our horses ;)

-RSBM-
I think you'd be surprised at the amount of tourism they do bring.
Guaranteed on any given day, no matter the weather, :p there's a bunch of tourists excitedly snapping pics or trying to get the guards to giggle outside Buck Palace

But that's just for starters there's tons of other places with so much historic 'royal' connections tourist flock to see.

And let's face it there's not a lot else we've got to attract the tourists ;)
