Maybe I'm just old fashioned but it doesn't look right to me for a state occasion. And May's dress doesn't look right for a Prime Minister on any occasion.
Mays 'DRESS' never looks right ;) Ever!

This is true. I remember her at some commemoration ceremony for soldiers who fell in the two world wars and she was dressed all in leather.

She looked like Herr Flick of the Gestapo.

Oh, my! She appears to be flashing quite a bit of her boob there, seldom flattering for a woman our age.

They were invited at the "suggestion" of the American ambassador. In other words, they invited themselves.
LOL :D

State Visits

"Foreign Monarchs, Presidents or Prime Ministers are invited to visit The Queen on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office."

They were invited by the British government.

Yes they were - at the suggestion of the US Ambassador. The foreign office always consults with the embassy of the country in question when they are planning a state visit.

If you watch reports of the visit on Sky you'll hear some of the reporters commenting that the White House hasn't explained why they wanted the Trump children included in the invitation.

"Wow! The Duchess of Cornwall has been one busy lady this week and has been rocking a great wardrobe to boot. On Tuesday evening, the wife of Prince Charles went to Winfield House - the residence of the Ambassador of the United States of America - where she mingled with Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania."

(Previous State banquet but she looks stunning :p )
I think this red gown is one of my favorite gowns of all-time. It’s just stunning! She’s always so classy.

Melania’s dress looks like it would be perfect for the Handmaiden’s Tale

Maybe it’s just seeing it on the heels of the other red one that I loved, but MOO Melania’s dress is not flattering.

I've no idea why this has become an issue?
Why/what would the White House be expected to explain?

It was a state visit, so it's a little odd to bring a whole family entourage of people who have no visible role in government.

Its not really an issue, just a bit odd.

Ivana must have a new stylist. I rarely used to see her in an outfit I didn't love, but on this trip, yikes!
. IMO, her dress looks like it was made from a bed sheet
