I don’t understand the Givenchy obsession the Duchess seems to have. Givenchy must have a team of staff designing outfits and making them for her. They don’t even look great I mean I get it they are Givenchy, made in France and cost a bomb but that doesn’t make them great. If only Hubert de Givenchy was still alive he used to design for Audrey Hepburn and other stars. Today was supposed to be a happy event so why was the Duchess of Sussex dressed like she was in mourning.

The Duchess of Sussex seems very attracted to drab colors or strange styles that are inappropriate for the event. I keep scratching my head wondering why. The only reason I can come up with is that she doesn’t want to be a clone of Kate or Camilla and others and maybe doesn’t want to stand out or wants to march to a totally different drummer. But the drummer’s rhythm is way off. She still hasn’t figured out her best style after a year. I can probably count on less than two hands the number of her outfits I’ve really liked so far. This thread could easily get her up to speed. :D

If a commoner should marry into royalty, do they sign a form of employment to make sure they know what is expected of them and to keep them to it?
Crazy question but imagine waking up and realizing you didn't like your job anymore, you can't quit can you?
I wouldn't want that for any Prince Charming.

Dear Your Royal Highness,

I love your son but I hate the job.
It just seemed like a good idea at the time.
I'm going back to bed.
Your loving daughter in law.....

Love this story about the Queen driving the Saudi king. She can show her feelings in creative ways.

Queen Elizabeth Once Took King Abdullah For A Drive, Proved She's A Badass | HuffPost

Brilliant!

“Women are not — yet — allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia, and Abdullah was not used to being driven by a woman, let alone a queen.”

Not to mention a queen who can drive like the wind. According to Cowper-Coles, Elizabeth didn’t just drive the SUV, but rapidly whizzed along the estate’s roads as she chatted, prompting Abdullah to become increasingly anxious.

But could this be why it took another 20 years for women in SA to be given the right to drive in 2018? :D

I noticed immediately in the group photo posted above that Meghan is the only woman who is not wearing "colorful" dress. Even with the silly white collar, it's obvious that the Duchess of Sussex chose to wear dark clothing instead of a cheerful, colorful outfit. She looks out of place in the group. Meghan must know the history of the event, so I wonder if she deliberately chose to dress differently than the other women?

Meghan looks tired. It’s perfectly understandable, but her makeup and the navy outfit, and too tight hairstyle and hat are all washing her out, big time.

She looked much better, and softer, in the white dress, and loose hairstyle just after giving birth.

It was especially a contrast in the carriage ride with Camilla and Kate, both looking fab and festive, and Meghan looking like she’s on her way to a funeral.

Meghan needs a stylist, stat. I get that she’s a minimalist modern American woman, but that Givenchy dress is terrible. She’s being contrary to the very title of the event, trouping the color... hello?

Kate looks positively stunning, and Little Prince Louis is SO adorable... what a cute baby.

Perhaps Meghan is self-conscious about her post-pregnancy physique. She might not feel comfortable or confident wearing light, bright clothing that would call attention to her less-than-svelte shape. I think she'll wear something lovely for Baby Archie's christening - at least, I hope so.

I wondered if she is self-conscious too. There’s so much pressure to be back to a “normal” pre-baby body in a short time. But there are colors and patterns and styles that disguise a less than perfect body. I hope she wears something happy and appropriate for the christening. If she doesn’t, she’s probably beyond the help of a stylist IMO.

It must be very hard for her knowing you are going to be photographed and appear in newspapers and magazines all over the world and are going to being scrutinised. The pressure must be hard at times.

Hopefully in the future the Duchess will wear more colourful clothing and other designers.

It must be culture shock big time for Meghan. I wouldn’t have chosen that life — but that’s me. No carriage rides thank you very much! She may not feel invested in the Episcopal faith either, certainly not like the BRF. So, I imagine it’s really difficult and the differences in lifestyle must make her feel like a total fish out of water sometimes. She seems to be adding to that with her choices though.

I wonder if she’s feeling pressure to have another child? Not tomorrow, (lol) but soon?

Meghan does casual style really well. But we do casual style (and stringy flattened hair) in America.

Not only does Meghan need a really good stylist, but the house of Givenchy could use a fashion overhaul, imo. That dress and coatlet are quite dreadful.

It’s interesting, style really works when it shows that the choices come from a personal best knowledge. And to some it comes quite naturally. Kate, Camilla, and Diana all exude (d) that confidence of knowing what works for them.

I’m a huge fan of hats. So I’d be in hat heaven in Britain!

Even a different more festive hat could have rescued Meghan’s outfit. Last year, she looked lovely in a neutral beige blush and it was her hat that really made the outfit... jmo.

Eta: adding photo.
