Good Lord. Hot tip Samantha nobody cares what you think. This is between Meghan and her Father. It takes time to repair and build trust. Never heard that theory about Phillippa of Hainault before. It is possible though, the royals and nobles of the 14th century wouldn't have seen anything particularly outrageous about marriage between Europeans and Africans. As long as the African in question was a good Catholic of course!

The racial hang ups surrounding marriage don't kick in till the Atlantic slave trade takes off because it then becomes very lucrative to pretend that Africans are sub human. The CNN article was right about that, to be fair.
