I’m not a fan of the Duchess of Cambridge’s outfit tonight the material looks like it needs a good iron or steaming to get the creases out.

Dazzling duchess! Kate glitters in Diana's diamond tiara as she joins William for a lavish state banquet held in honour of the Dutch king and queen

Photos from tonight’s state banquet.

I love Queen Maxima's dress here.

Theresa May appears to be wearing multiple layers of Spanx to no good effect.

I think people forget that Meghan has what the average women doesn't. Staff. She has the funds and resources to have someone style her, tailor her clothing, and all those things the other Royal women have.
She is not a stylish or fashionable person. I've accepted that she will likely dress in ill fitting clothing for possibly her entire life. At her age she probably isn't looking for a do-over.
Part of the issue might be that she is American. She dresses differently than the royals of European and Britain. It's not her trying to be modern or an independent woman, she just doesn't know any better.
I don't like comparing her to Kate because they come from two very different backgrounds and upbringing, but Kate didn't wear ill-fitting maternity clothing with any of her pregnancies. If something is ill-fitting on Meghan it's a Meghan thing.

Oh dear. I love Meghan and want to defend her at all cost, and I really like a lot of the bold and unconventional pieces she wears. But lately it's very clear she needs to hire new fashion help. Nothing fits right (pre-visible pregnancy, right now I'm happy to give her some leeway there) and outfits aren't matched to the occasion. I'm sure Jessica Mulroney is a great friend but she doesn't get how dressing a royal works. There are calculated risks, and then there's "Thanks! I got this on clearance at Marshalls!"

I never thought I’d say this but I really liked Camilla’s coat dress at the state dinner. It is beautiful and age appropriate- she needs to give tips to the PM.

Camilla looks nice.

The PM has not dressed well ever in my opinion. I am fed up seeing that chunky silver necklace she wears it’s like something you would use to chain up your pet dog outside the local supermarket.

The weather in Australia probably was horrendous with heat and humidity. Add the increase in how hot one is during pregnancy and it must have been brutal for Meghan.

Luckily she could wear that more breezy dress. How silly to roast .

lol its not always horrendous with heat and humidity in Australia.
its spring and the weather has been perfectly mild for their visit.
overall Sydney is usually not that horrendous :p

I was shocked when I found out how cold it can get in the winter in Australia.

I have an unusual memory of Melbourne for you! We arrived and checked in to our hotel, dropped our bags and immediately went out onto the street to find a payphone so I could call my sister in Sydney to let her know we'd landed safely. As we stood there a man walked right in front of a tram and was knocked to the ground, unresponsive and bleeding, we thought he was dead. Within minutes an ambulance had arrived and it looked like they were trying to resuscitate him. And then, all of a sudden, he just stood up and started trying to walk off. One of the weirdest things I ever did see... Great city, by the way!

Meghan definitely looks pregnant in that blue dress. There's no way they could have held off the announcement any longer. She looks more than 12 weeks to me though, or is it twins?!

When they made the announcement they said she'd already had her 12-week scan, so I guess she might be about 14-16 weeks now? There's definitely a bit of a bump showing imo, but her wrists look too thin. I hope she won't worry about putting on a little pregnancy weight.

I'm liking seeing Megan in some more relaxed style summery dresses.

Examples of American names would be:
Jackson , Harley, Cooper, Preston, Dakota, Brody, Chad, Jared, Blake, Sheldon, Beau, Austin, Cash, Billy-Ray, Billie-Rae, Hunter, Dallas, Chase, Jebediah, Marshall, Kennedy, Ted, Marshall, Wade, Sawyer, Benjamin, Conner, Brett, Marquis, Darnell, Tyrone, Reginald, Andre

Shenika, Bobby-Jo (male and female), Billy-Jo (male or female), Jessie (male or female), Brooke, Candy, Tabitha, Scarlet, Dixie, Dolly, Betty-Jo, Faye, Ella-Mae, Shirley, Esther, Naomi, Bobby-Lee (male or female), Kit/Kitty, Pam, Cinnamon, Shania, Sage, Mackenzie (male or female), Shiloh, Jenna, Shanice, Diamond, Asia, Tierra, Tannis,

Did I forget any :D

From that list I think Tabitha, Kitty or Ella would work well as royal names, with a "Lady" in front of them. They all fit with the 'class' of the royals.

I think the key to the name is likely to be class rather than country. So maybe a name from either country that is more traditional, or if it's a modern name I think it would have to work with their 'class'. So maybe for a traditional name that works in both cultures, perhaps Esther, Ruby, Florence or Amelia, and those three I picked from the list above. I think instead of Jessie it would be Jessica.

Names like Madison or Mackenzie don't seem to have really caught on over here.

Megan's from the acting class in the US, so how might that affect choosing of names? Perhaps they'll pick one of the type of names where the child is going to be the only one at school with that name?

For a male name I have fewer ideas without a list in front of me. Aside from that list, I mean, which I just can't see any of them in the royal family. Maybe something from the 1500s to first half of the 1900s, either a royal-ish name or perhaps the name of an actor or author?

So there is a "sponge" that is called a pie but is made of lamb?

It's like we don't speak the same language. :)

That's funny lolol I guess that one has been explained already, but I *always* feel the culture thing when Americans talk about biscuits and gravy, cos to a Brit it conjures up images of custard creams soaked in Bisto lol
