No worries! We'll meet in the middle -- of the dining room.

Victoria Sponge is 2 layers of cake with jam & whipped cream in between. Supposedly this was served at tea-time once while Queen Victoria was young. She liked the combo so much that it was served each & every tea-time from that day forward. Recipe I use:

Mary Berry's perfect Victoria sandwich

(Technically, this is not a sponge cake at all, that's another story.)

Also technically, Shepherd's Pie is made with lamb or mutton -- sheep have shepherds. Here in the US, I use beef, so consider the result Drover's Pie since cattle are driven instead of herded.

Back to our Royal Watching!

This is my favorite tiara, the Oriental Circlet:

If this one ever goes missing from the Royal Collection, ya might check my posting history for a gap....

We call the beef version Cottage Pie :)

I like the floral dress with the tiered flounces. Not crazy about the fuzzy golf balls, but the dress is reminiscent of my Laura Ashley wardrobe of the 70s and 80s. I wonder if, of when, Meghan's slim ankles might swell? I couldn't wear shoes for half my pregnancy

The Countess of Wessex surprises in short dress for outing with Dutch royals

The Countess of Wessex is the Queen’s son Prince Edward’s wife. I think she always dresses well.

I agree about Sophie, and Camilla too. Both dress well and for their age, and seem to have found styles that fit and flatter properly.

I was reading about the Queen's Order Of The Something-or-other which she awards to just the most senior royal ladies, Kate's just got it. I think it's Camilla, Sophia, Anne, Alexandra and a couple of others who are allowed to wear it.

Was also reading about curtseying and the strict pecking order. Did you know, for example, that in certain situations Kate must curtsey to Eugenie and Beatrice? Apparently this can happen in private as well as publicly and they take it very seriously. Trying to find the article.

It's difficult for me to question Kate's wardrobe choices because I think she's absolutely gorgeous and dresses exquisitely. That said, I actually LOL at that pale blue monstrosity that looked like a funeral home window treatment

They both have so many pairs of shoes with them.

Those espadrilles look huge on her. Some nice flip flops would have been cute.

I hate the dress she wore. The red. It reminds of a muu muu which was the dress the missionaries forced the natives to wear.

I wonder if they will be greeted with haka in New Zealand

That’s exactly what the pale blue dress looks like.

Thank you. I was almost afraid to say it, but that is exactly what I thought when I saw Kate's gown :D

Ok I mostly liked Meghan's floral boho dress, but not the espadrilles. I think the dress was a bit busy with all the flounces but I loved the color combination on her. (I've been thinking a nice vivid lilac color would be pretty on Meghan.) I also loved the plumeria (aka frangipani) flowers in her hair. The whole look read "tropical" to me.

Catherine's Alexander McQueen dress for the state dinner was pretty hideous. It might have looked nicer in a different color like black. Nice to see her wearing that tiara that was part of memorable Diana looks. She looks too thin again IMO :(

Sophie's hat choice is rather unfortunate. But the rest of the look is ok.

I did not see a thread for Norway Royal Family. Crown Princess Mette-Marit released a long statement saying she has been diagnosed with pulmonary Fibrosis. The link below is in Norwegian. The link is in the official site of the family and has English translation however, I could not find the exact translation. It may not be up yet.

From another site where someone did translation, it said the Princess still will carry out duties but there will be times she will not beable to do her work. Finally they have an answer about her health.

Kronprinsessens helsetilstand

I've posted fashion choices by other royals so I think you're safe posting about this news, MsJosie.

Here's a bit from the google-translated page:

"The fact that the disease is proven at an early stage is favorable considering the prognosis.

"Although such a diagnosis in times will limit my life, I'm glad that the disease has been discovered so early. My goal is still to work and participate in the official program as much as possible, says the Crown Princess."

And from your link:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle unveil statue to hero British-Fijian sergeant before flying to Tonga | Daily Mail Online

A little tight upstairs but looks nice on Megs. The color also looks very nice on Megs.
Much better than the crazy dress from yesterday.

They're such a cute married couple in this snap:

I do love this shade of green on Meghan. Similar to some of her Dublin looks IIRC (including the weird undergarment line across the top of her 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 lol).

Their baby is going to be so cute!

I agree
the problem with kates dress she looks way too thin.
she needs to gain 5 kgs and I'm sure the dress would have looked far better on her.
my eyes nearly popped out of my head. she does not look healthy :-(
