I think Meghan cradling her bump is very cute! She is 37, if she's always wanted to have children this baby was a long time coming. I'm sure she's over the moon to be having this experience, royal or not. I will not fault a new mom-to-be being excited over her pregnancy, protocol schmotocol!

I agree. I think all the belly holding is simply excitement over the pregnancy. Her life has changed a lot in the past few months - and it's likely very, very exciting.

She is also media savvy and probably realizes that a gesture like holding your pregnant belly is likely to be taken in a kind way - it's rather poor taste to criticize a new mama carrying a baby.

But, mostly, I think it's excitement. :)

I have to say, the idea of traveling overseas while in the early stages of pregnancy exhausts me. I was busy throwing up and sleeping. :) I felt much better in the later months, but those early months were soooo tiring.

It is lovely to see the Duke and Duchess so happy and in love. I can’t wait to see them standing outside the Lindo Wing of the hospital with the little one.

I agree with you!! She and Harry are likely over the moon happy. :) I hope she has a happy and easy pregnancy and delivery.

I'm sure their child/ children will be beautiful. ( And I hope Harry gets his little girl, too. :))

Quite frankly I am sick of seeing Meghan being so clingy to Harry! She doesn’t act like a 37 year old, or a royal, or follow the Queens instructions on PDA.

She doesn’t simply hold his hand, or hold his bent arm, she is entwined with him. Very childish and informal.

As far as the baby bump, she rubs it too much.

Heaven forbid, she is not showing proper etiquette with her mannerisms mentioned above.

Feb 28th is my best guess for the little one's birth day. Right now I'm thinking a boy.

I think Meghans baby bump holding is just precious. It's a loving and protective cradle as best one can while pregnant.

I think Meghan has a very sweet and demonstrative personality. She expresses herself not only with words , but also with touch. Hopefully there's some fire in there , too. But we'll have to wait a while to see That, I suspect.

She wasn't raised in a palace or around royalty. Of course she does things differently. Holds herself differently, dresses differently. She's done it her own way for 36 years now. I admire her moxie. And her attitude.

I think she's a much-needed, long- time needed , wonderfully open , loving and genuinely caring addition to what sometimes seems an aloof , cold shouldering family. She is somehow bringing out the best in the royal family.

I'd really like to see pics of her conversating with Prince Phillip . Also, with Fergie, Beatrice & Eugenie.

Meghan may very well be feeling unwell and having Harry to hang on to might be the little reassurance she needs. She's pregnant and over 35; most likely higher risk than she was 10 years ago. We don't know her past reproductive history - she may have had a miscarriage at some point and instinctively is cradling/protecting her belly.

And of course those photos sell to the tabloids. If she wasn't touching her belly people would be saying she's unhappy being pregnant.

She can't please everyone.

From the link:

Meghan, 37, opted to skip three engagements on Fraser Island in Queensland and also missed a medal presentation at Invictus to rest after a late night watching the delayed opening ceremony.

Pictured in a range of outfits from Jason Wu to Emilia Wickstead, and occasionally cradling her baby bump, the duchess was praised by many for sticking to a gruelling schedule of 76 engagements.

BBM 76 engagements in 16 days!!!! Exhausting even if you aren't pregnant, IMO.

Yes, I like that outfit too. Love the collar and the details of the cuffs. Boots - love 'em. Contrast of the gray against the black works. She needs to stick with the contrasts, imo, with simple lines like this.

Anyone know what her pins say?

One is a red poppy for Remembrance Sunday. I have never seen the other one before.

As a voracious reader, I prefer written articles to video, but when I see an interesting clip on my homepage, I can't help watching. Hope you'll enjoy this royal ditty :D

Prince Charles' Most Outrageous Royal Demands

I remember him carrying around the calfskin " loo" seat on his honeymoon with Diana. It was photographed several times although the reporters didn't come out and say " Look at this eccentric dude". Apparently, from the looks of it, the other seat has to be removed? Not sure, but IMO, it is NOT a toilet seat cover but a larger, stiffer framework seat covered in calfskin.

I don't really know how he got so, well, almost OCD about fears of being poisoned, germs, and his other quirks but I hope he retains enough sanity to reign without being destructive to the real governing bodies of the British Commonwealth.

I was riding a train this week and sat next to a visitor from London. I asked what the consensus is about Meghan. She said “We love her. She’s a breath of fresh air.” :)

That's simply untrue. Ever see pregnant women walk, sit at work, stand, shop, talk on the phone, and talk to someone without their hands cradling their bumps at this stage of pregnancy? I have. I've never personally seen anyone constantly touching their baby bump as Meghan does. And I've been around hundreds of pregnant women, who were all happy to be pregnant and having their children. It's *not* a dig on motherhood or being happy, as some have twisted it. Not at all.

Whenever this thread pops up I am convinced that the Queen must have died.

You haven't been around Meghan constantly, or at all. You've seen carefully selected photos picked out of thousands if not tens of thousands of still shots of Meghan while she is on a public tour meant to bring good will and publicity to the British monarchy. As the public is very excited and interested in her pregnancy, photographers for news organizations are going to select the shots where she's touching her belly or that focus on her body.

Every single pregnancy announcement or weekly pregnancy update post from every person I know has a happy and excited mom cradling a barely there bump.

Oh, not for another decade or longer, one most sincerely hopes and prays. Remember, the Queen Mum lived to age 101. I'd love to have those longevity genes, as they are truly beyond remarkable.

There's lots of Royalty news, and right now, it's all good. Hoping it stays that way for many years. :)
