I sincerely hope the remaining Royal family members can go about their business without everything being referred to as “post-Megxit” ... PH and MM have moved on, so let’s focus solely on those who remain. JMHO ...

It feels like the issue is personal, doesn't it?

And that would make it a low and mean act

I agree ... in my opinion it does.

JMHO, etc.

I actually agree with this. I think the U.K government and the royal family should share the costs.

I think H&M should pay their own security costs with a transition period where Charles pays. It would be very hard to reconcile record high levels of knife crime in London with paying for private citizens in a foreign country to have round the clock security when they presumably will be making tens of millions a year. I realise its a small amount of money when you break it down per taxpayer but that money could be much better used to help get knives off the street or deal with county lines gangs or all manner of other things. If H&M want a life akin to Peter or Zara, that doesn't come with a security team

“Likewise, British taxpayers felt their contribution to the couple's lifestyle gave them a right to know certain details about Harry and Meghan's life.

The final straw for Meghan was the consistent criticism she received for months for being overly protective of Archie -- including keeping his christening private. Although the royal couple claimed they weren't reading the articles about themselves and Archie -- we're told they were well aware of the headlines.

Our Meghan sources say she was incensed about the christening coverage, and it was one of the reasons she and Harry decided to pull the trigger on Megxit. One source explains it like this -- "They think if the British public aren't contributing financially then they don't have the same right to comment on their private life."

Meghan Markle's Battle Over Archie's Privacy Influenced Megxit
It's been a theme throughout her time in the RF. The rules don't apply to me. She wants everything associated with being Royal but when told what is expected she bridles and cops out.

Talk about tone deaf, Charles flew by private jet to Davos to talk about climate change. Its either an emergency and we all need to do all we can to save the planet or you can fly private, it can't be both.

Prince Charles flies to Davos on a jet emitting six tonnes of carbon to launch sustainable project | Daily Mail Online

"Charles travelled from St Gallen to Davos in a fully electric Jaguar I-Pace, rather than using a helicopter - but did fly to Switzerland in a private jet, which will produces six tonnes of carbon per passenger compared to 0.19 tonnes on a commercial flight. "

I can’t wait to see the animated version of Gary’s IG ... I’ve always enjoyed “little Prince George’s” thoughts on the Royal Family ....
Is that a cartoon? I am not familiar with it...

That would be a difficult assignment....
Do not envy her.She does take on some serious causes.

I think I may keep track for a bit because I too feel it’s meant to diminish the Cambridge’s - just compare the likes and comments - PH and MM enjoy immense popularity still

More than 80,000 Canadians sign petition demanding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pay their own way as MP for Victoria - where they are staying - says taxpayers should NOT foot the bill for their security

Canadian taxpayers should NOT pay anything towards Harry and Meghan's security costs, MP says | Daily Mail Online

I actually agree with this. I think the U.K government and the royal family should share the costs.
I don’t understand why the government would have to pay for security if they aren’t working on behalf of them ? If they do an official government meeting then yes the British government should provide security but when they do their own thing if they need security they should cover it IMO and either PC can include it in his support or they should cover it themselves - I think this can backfire if not carefully handled

I think it’d be great if press left them alone for a few months....give them what they want. We can all sit back & watch MM’s creativity as she tries to once again be ‘the news’. I think she lives for the attention. Moo

Probably the same reason former US presidents and their children are still entitled to security for a certain length of time after leaving office. Some give it up sooner than others, depending on how high-profile their lives are. In this case, he’s one of the future king’s two sons. And as Diana’s son, he will always garner a certain amount of attention that some of the Queen’s other grandchildren do not. Diana’s tragic life and death still has an impact on her boys. He did not choose to be born and raised in this unusual situation, and I feel that because his country does still support a monarchy and this life was forced on him, they have a certain responsibility to protect those born into it, especially those who garner much more attention (and he does and still would outside of his choices simply because of who his parents are).

The Royal Family

Today, The Prince of Wales met world leaders, politicians and environmentalists including Greta Thunberg at The World Economic Forum in Davos.

His Royal Highness officially launched the Sustainable Markets Council at the forum: the new initiative aims to create sustainable markets whilst helping the global economy become more environmentally friendly.

The annual meeting at Davos encourages open discussions about ways to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.

I agree completely. No matter where he lives in their new position, it doesn’t change who he is...son of the future king, son of Diana and grandson of the Queen. As you say, being born into the RF wasn’t his choice, so I agree he is entitled to paid protection. It seems almost punitive to remove it. He isn’t abandoning the Queen and his family, and would have kept a more active position if he could have.
