Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to quit the royal family has had 'a huge impact' on Prince William and Kate Middleton who are 'still reeling', royal expert claims

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are 'still reeling' from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to quit the royal family, according to a royal expert.

Commentator Katie Nicholl revealed Prince William, 37, and Kate Middleton, 38, were still 'coming to terms with the reality' of the Sussexes choice.

Speaking about Prince Harry, 35, and the Cambridges on-going relationship, she told Entertainment Tonight: 'I think the severity of what’s happened has had a huge impact on his brother, on his sister-in-law.'

$5,600 per month at 75 years old. Here in the UK the state pension is something like £170 per week at the max level. That's if you have worked all your life and paid your national insurance. The retirement age is pushing back further all the time, currently late 60's. I could only dream of $5,000+. Not sure many Brits will sympathize with him over this

I doubt many Americans will sympathize either, myself included, who is the same age!

Absolutely! I do hope she is protected from getting any types of diseases and viruses from anybody that is communicated through the air. In the United States, the flu is really On The Rise but I don't know about over there.

Seeing these photos of her, and many of the thread posts have talked about her iconic style, I wonder how many of her outfits will end up being sold to a museum in the future. Such fashion taste she has and is Iconic and Timeless! Others May disagree, but she is definitely a fashion icon for her age in my opinion. She has stayed the trend for her look for decades, which is hard to do but she has done it very well.

I just realized, when she goes out in public, there is no mention of who the designer was or what the brand is.

A lot of people have the flu over here just now and I also worry about Her Majesty developing pneumonia but I am sure she has probably been vaccinated against both.

Her Majesty mostly wears outfits designed by Ms. Angela Kelly who is her personal dresser but she has always carried a Launer handbag for decades.

Someone asked if anyone has met any royals a few pages back - I met Princess Anne last year in Stranraer. And she was very sharp and engaging. She had a bit of a stern face but I think she was just really paying attention to what everyone was saying so she could have decent conversations. I liked her.

I automatically became aggravated for her because I really despise it when people shorten my name.

I absolutely hate it when people shorten my name too! I get it.

How much privacy can Harry and Meghan expect?

Not much, according to Ingrid Seward, a royal biographer and editor of Majesty Magazine. She says she's surprised the couple weren't expecting the paparazzi to follow them to Canada.

"Of course the safest place for Harry and Meghan to be is in the UK," she told Radio 4's PM programme. "They haven't been papped once since their marriage, and if they have been, no pictures have been printed.

"Those rules don't apply in Canada. The paps can come from all over the world and lie in wait for them."

Ingrid Seward is misinformed. Not only do we have Federal privacy regulations, but B.C. has an additional Privacy Act, which allows individuals to sue other people for invasions of privacy where they had a reasonable expectation of privacy. The act also says privacy may be violated by eavesdropping or surveillance, whether or not accomplished by physical trespass.

Here's a prime example of how the DM works.

Headline: Prince Charles 'snubs' US Vice President Mike Pence while shaking officials' hands in Israel | Daily Mail Online

First part:
Prince Charles avoided shaking hands with Mike Pence, the U.S. vice president <...> A video clip ...shows him walking along the front row of seats, shaking hands with world and Jewish leaders. When he came to Pence, the vice president had his hand extended in apparent expectation of a handshake. But the heir to the British throne merely looked him in the eye before moving on to shake hands with [others].

But then:
As the video went public, both Pence's staff and Buckingham Palace denied it was a snub and said the pair had met before entering the hall, exchanging smiles and joking with each other, and shaken hands after the event. The Vice President's press secretary tweeted a video and picture of Pence and Charles together before the event. A Buckingham Palace told the BBC the prince and Mr Pence had a 'long and warm conversation' before the ceremony began.

Furthermore, I have watched the video and Pence clearly DOESN'T
have "his hand extended in apparent expectation of a handshake." Basically it's a non-event. Contradictory, divisive, and trying to incite animosity between two countries.

Why?

Yet The Canadian press and the Canadian lawyers they reference in their articles seem to disagree with you.

Taking a walk in the park and having their picture plastered across the world’s media, is that an intrusion that would be highly offensive to a reasonable person?” he said. “It might be to a Canadian, might not be to somebody in the U.K., where this is more common.”

Hermida said he finds it difficult to understand that Harry and Meghan believed their recent decision to step back from the Royal Family and move part-time to Canada would not place them in the media spotlight.

“In some ways I would argue by making the decision to step back formally as royals they’ve created more interest in what they are doing,” he said. “There’s the expectation of reasonable interest in them in how they chart a new life in Canada. We’re looking at royals, post royalty, and this is new.”

I wonder if Prince Harry and MM ever really sit and think things through thoroughly? They keep communicating with the media/public in one way or another while crying that they want privacy.

They can go live in the most remote areas of NWT and no one will bother them. They will have all the privacy they want.

Eventually interest in them will die down and their pictures will be worth nothing, and the media will go away. Until then, they need to stop with their over reactions and stay out of the public.

Do you notice that no one pays attention to what Peter Phillips and his Canadian wife do on a daily basis.
No one goes around hounding Zara either. Same with Beatrice and Eugenie.

Great video with new info and the guy who took the photo of MM at the link

Duke and Duchess of Sussex threaten legal action against paparazzi

While I understand the paps have a job to do, this language from the photographer sounds to me like the language of exploitation:

[The photographer] defends his photo. “It’s not like yesterday she didn’t give it up. And give it up means she could have dipped her head down. But she stood up tall and smiled. And made sure that we were able to get the shot,” he said.

The angle they were at, they were going to get some kind of shot anyway. He hasn't said that MM invited them there or gave them a heads up.

The phrase 'give it up' has certain connotations.

And at the end of the day if she decided in her own mind that she had a choice between anger rising in her, with her child strapped to her body, making a scene that would be on tomorrow's front pages, and holding her head up and smiling .... maybe it was just that kind of decision she made. Most times there's more going on than "oh I'm happy to 'give it up' because that's the sort of girl I am".

RSBM

I agree Her Royal Majesty has probably had vaccinations for both flu and pneumonia. A cold would have her a bit more susceptible to other illnesses right now. I would guess her physician recommended she not get out to avoid catching something on top of her cold. Sometimes avoidance is the best protection.

The decision came following concern that Edward's relationship with Wallis was exposing him to circles which included German diplomats and members of the British Fascist Movement, with Wallis considered an 'untrustworthy' option to marry the reigning King.

I don't think there's any similarity there with Harry and Meghan at all!

Definitely. I think Prince P is the more vulnerable though. He had a recent hospital stay just before Christmas
