Last Saturday I was sitting outside at a local festival reading a book and listening to the music. My friend sitting beside me starts laughing and goes, "Hey look at that chihuahua in a tux." I look up and see an Asian guy, mid to late forties, walking towards us with a big grin on his face, he's laughing too! For a split second I felt that "fight or flight" feeling. I looked down and here comes this tiny little dog, dressed in a black tux with a red bow tie. The chihuahua is panting, in the 95 degree heat and is trying to keep up with his owner. The little dog's owner is apparently loving the attention and getting a big kick out of the poor dog's misery. I sat there frozen, smiled as they passed and nodded hello. What else could I do? I told my friend about the LISK victims, SG, JB and MP, we both got the creeps.:what:

This case has me frustrated beyond words. With no new information to go on, I feel like I'm letting these women down. Being idle is driving me nuts, but I honestly don't know where to go from here. I find myself sitting on my front porch every afternoon, replaying what I know in my head, and hitting a brick wall time and time again.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. BTW we released our first marlin of the day. Nice fish, 400.

Conservative, moderate, and liberal? what about democrat and republican? those are two pretty big sectors that little diagram missed.

How much fight is there in a marlin that size, and about how long does it take to get it on deck? Sounds like a great time.

No, Democrat and Republican are party affiliations, conservative and liberal are ideological leanings; there are conservative Democrats and Republicans, and liberal Democrats and Republicans (though, truly, much less crossover now than at any other time in history).

He came up almost as soon as we put the lines out. I fish 15 rods at a time while trolling. He took about 2 hours to get to the boat. We got the hook out of him, put a tag in him, then revived him and let him swim another day. Very pretty animal.

Any time I've been out on a party boat (and I used to take them from Captree), a good portion of the time seemed to be spent untangling lines - I guess that happens less when you're trolling, though. I can't say I've ever caught anything big, and probably the "best fight" I ever experienced was from bluefish caught right outside the Robert Moses cut; those blues don't give up very easily, and then they want to bite you once they're on the boat. For me, the best fishing was just sitting right in the Bay off of West Islip and pulling in flounder after flounder - they just sit there like dead weights when you pull them in, but that's good eatin'!

You must be older than me. I only hear about the stellar flounder fishing we used to have. I have caught 2 flounder in about 5 years. The striped bass/seal population has exploded and they love those things. FI Inlet/great south bay flounder fishing is dead. We got a pretty good fluke population but they usually avoid the seals and are pretty ravenous. A striped bass can eat a baby but not a big one, the fluke would definitely take a chunk out of a bass. Most things follow the path of least resistance. Like some tool that likes to kill 90 lb girls. I grew up in the Nirvana/Alice in Chains/Pearl Jam days. There could have been flounder then; but I was busy with other stuff high school grunge kids like to do.

It was more like just pulling in dinner than fishing; I remember one day a friend and I pulled in 57 flounder in less than two hours, with just one pole each - the only thing holding us back was the time it took to bait the hooks. Mostly '71 through '73 (I was a teen), and we'd sit right in the middle of that dark spot in the center of this map (i.e. the end of my canal):

In those days, of course, you could practically walk from one clam boat to the next, and I understand that's also a thing of the past.

Nirvana was the last great rock band, full stop. I'm "an old", but I still enjoy them.

*Bump*

Happy fishing guys!

landed 4 out of 5. Broke off the last one. The 4th took me about 3 hours to get up to the boat. The other one was on the line for about 5 hours. By that time the line had chaffed and we lost her. But we put about 1000 lbs of fresh big eye tuna meat in the boat. at $9 a pound.....I think I just covered my fuel bill for the last two weeks.

We sell it to a broker. He gives me a check and I get a 1099 at the end of the year. This way one of my guys or myself dont gotta go running around town with coolers of fish trying to sell to 30 different restaurants after they have been working hard for two days and just wanna go home and get some sleep. They all fish with me for free, I just expect some guidelines to be followed. I already called my girlfriend who is dropping of nice bottles of champagne at there houses. I do not allow drugs on board so staying up for 48 hours is a little tougher than some other boats. I have a rule on my boat and there is a sign in the head that reads:

"If you are using to stay awake; make sure you save enough so you can paddle your cooler home cause your not getting a ride with me" - The Captain.
