Why would the No Trespassing signs lead to an uneasy feeling? I can think of other reasons, a lot, actually, as to why they would feel uneasy, but why the signs? The signs I get. He doesn't want people who shouldn't be on his property who shouldn't be. Thoughts?

If anything, I'd be uneasy about reporters or random people snooping there. Nothing in the world worrying about No Trespassing signs. I mean, normally, lol, I associate those with way out in rural areas warning you'll be shot for trespassing, but in this case, big whoop. I'd do it, too.

It's not normal to have them in a nice neighbourhood. If my neighbour did that, I wouldn't like it. It almost calls attention to what happened there, and makes MS come across as paranoid and hostile.

Maybe MS put up the signs in anticipation of his BFF's arrival in FL. I'm guessing the media will be camped outside his home very soon.

Idk, but it reminds me of another FL case. Cindy and George Anthony also put up caution tape and no trespassing signs.

Answering my own question, maybe the house is underwater anyway.

Mortgage insurance may pay it off so the house is owned free and clear

Somebody posted the links awhile back to the real estate records. If I remember correctly (and if I interpreted them correctly), I thought it looked like the house had been paid off shortly after the purchase. I'll see if I can pull up the records and edit my post.

My work computer isn't letting me view the applicable documents. From memory, I thought the 1/28/2005 was the original purchase and that the 4/1/2005 transaction had something to do with paying off the loan.

Any other location would have been far riskier in terms of potential witnesses and random things going wrong.

Eventually the house will be sold. Someone will value a good deal and snatch it up. So a little bit might be lost on the house, but it's not like they'll have to bulldoze it.

FelicityLemon Hmmm, it took him 11 weeks to put up NO TRESPASSING SIGNS, so I don't think "natural protectiveness" comes quickly for this guy. I think the "attention & scrutiny" of his comings and goings (something no one has questioned for years?) is really weighing on his carefree/man-about-town ego. NO TRESPASSING SIGNS are not going to stop cameras from being stationed on the street, stop neighbors from watching out their windows, or provide ANY extra level of security for his daughters. Afterall, if a wooden stick in the ground, with plastic 9x12 inch sign stapled to it and "hammered" into the ground, is the sign of a "naturally protective parent"....then ????
I think it is "resentment" ....what will he do if he suspects someone has "trespassed" anyway? Call the police and show them the state-of-art-security-video from his alarm system???

A driveway and sidewalk to your front door is an implied invitation. ANYONE can walk along your driveway to your front door, unless you have taken some action to indicate the driveway is not available to all. A No Trespassing sign is a good initial step to take.

Posting the signs is another action to protect yourself and your property legally for liability issues, too. If someone were to try and scale the fence then hurt themselves, they could sue the property owner even though it was during the commission of a crime. The signs are just one added defense against that. Every little bit helps when there are skanky people. The house, for the most part, is empty and that would be inviting to criminals and mischievous teens. It's unfortunate to have to post signs, but it does help legally if someone were to injure themselves on your property or simply being there acting annoying or harassing.

As far as neighbors not liking it, what... are they billboard size, 8.5 x 11 or somewhere in between? They're not pretty, but they're not pink flamingoes, either, lol! (Hey, it's Florida!) Are they neon? Do they have flashing lights? So freaking what. People who complain about that are probably the people who also complain about cars being parked on the street. You don't like what your neighbor does because it's not aesthetically pleasing to you? Live in an HOA community. If MS' neighborhood has an HOA, it's either within the guidelines or not. If within the rules, suck it up and stop looking, if it's against the rules, HOA will deal with it.

The signs are not just for rural areas.
