Dr Watson, does depression necessarily mean someone is suicidal? Can a person be depressed but never contemplate suicide?

Absolutely. I was clinically depressed, but not suicidal - no where near it. Then along came zoloft...ah, zoloft, my friend.

Some of the side effects stated are usually found when you start zoloft, but wear off in 1-3 weeks. Wonder why that wasn't mentioned.:jail:

Exactly....I wish the toxicoligist had stressed that the "suicide" risks associated with Zoloft is when someone first starts it - for a short period when starting an SSRI, symptoms can become worse briefly before improving. But, Allison had been taking the drug for years and obviously if she'd had this issue it would have been a long time prior. Most people are not effected like that anyway. Oh well, hope the jury don't take too much from the defence bringing up those issues.

It's a good question. I'm just going by a friend who presented to the ER for help but was turned away because she had no thoughts of self harm. Another person I know who suffers depression and anxiety does so because they're acutely aware of their own mortality due to events in their life and it's their fear of dying that is the issue.

3:36pm: Mr Giles said there was a two metre difference between high and low tide in Kholo Creek.

He said 80 to 100 millimetres of rain fell in the creek catchment in the two days before Mrs Baden-Clay's body was found.

However Mr Giles said he does not believe the water level in the creek would have been sufficient to move a human body.
