Stuart Christ says loan was not one of one mate to another, even though nothing in writing. #badenclay @abcnews

David Murray ‏@TheMurrayD 4m

Defence says loan to Gerard wasn't simply mate to mate, went through the books in detail. Mr Christ agrees #badenclay

Mr Christ says by the end of 2011, he was "not as worried", more comfortable "we would see that money come back at some stage". #badenclay

Mr Christ says it gave him great comfort to see Allison and Gerard working together on the business. #badenclay http://bit.ly/UCqb1j

$90k @ 10% per month!? No wonder the business was failing...

  • #205
Why the Joint Account? and not the Business account? The loans were supposedly for the business.

Maybe to keep it from the partners.

$90,000.00 x 3 plus interest...an unsecured loan.. a gentlemans agreement. .. except Gerard didn't pay it back.. most ungentlemanly.. $400,000.00 hit on Flegg.. who didn't cough up..

it is in these mundane , banal numbers that Alisons murder is spawned..

Yes, the money issues were very clouded (IMHO)
When there were no repayments coming forth, and if GBC had used Allsions (and her brothers) property as an asset without her knowledge - how do you explain that to her? How do you explain $90,000 into the personal loan that was a business loan. Why the need for $400,000 - that a lot of money.
GBC was on the brink in a financial crisis indeed.

“I’ve had a lifetime as a medical practitioner and I have had countless experiences with both death and reduces levels of consciousness due to injury, substances and anaesthesia … it was a single, reverse-crescendo in volume, tapering off and what I would describe as having an involuntary quality.

“The tone and the nature of the sounds was more … very strongly suggestive of a reduced level of consciousness, there’s a difference between people who might be screaming at each other from an argument for example, and somebody who lets out a sound when their conscious state is altered.”

Pardon my being blunt here - but what an utter load of codswallop! In all my years as a surgeon (recall that Flegg is a GP whose only exposure to anaesthetics would have been in his student and intern days) - I've never yet heard anyone scream as they go off to sleep! And I have seen WAY more trauma than he ever has - and same thing. If they're awake, they scream LOUDLY. If they are semi-conscious/dozey - they don't scream. Moan, maybe - but never a scream. And if a scream is elicited by somebody having to do something to them, then they yell out LOUD.

Oh Dr Flegg - your evidence is nothing short of, ummm - "incredible" in the true meaning of that word.

Mr Christ says he was monitoring Gerard's business, tracking house sales #badenclay

This is consistent with the children having heard nothing at home. The screams may have been somewhere between BC's and Flegg.

the showgrounds?

Mr Christ says he got a phone call on April 20, 2012, "quite distraught", very concerned about line of questioning from police. #badenclay

Mr Christ: In his words, they're going after him. Mr Christ says he told Nigel they should focus on finding Allison. #badenclay

Mr Christ says he gave Nigel the number of a lawyer he went to school with. #badenclay

Times three isn't it? RC, PC and Mr Christ each loaned $90k?

  • #216
Maybe to keep it from the partners.

More to my thinking - If it was deposited directly to the Business account the friends would have shown as Creditors - whereas, if GBC transfers it to the business from the joint account - he and Allison show as the creditor.

He would want to look like he was the one injecting cash into the business, not his friends.

Nigel wanted to contact a lawyer, Mr Christ said to focus on Allison but directed him to a lawyer he knew from Toowoomba #badenclay

  • #218
So he got $270 000 from his mates ?
Hit on Flegg for $300 000 then $400 00 ?

Isn't this called 'kiting' ? (Borrowing money to pay back monies borrowed ?)

Mr Christ says sometimes Allison was really good, sometimes she was very quiet. He says that went on for an extended period. #badenclay

Mr Christ says he last saw Allison before Easter, 2012. She was "fine". #badenclay

Ahhh there it is, there's the reason they didn't go through a lawyer (and I mean the lenders here) .. I wonder where this was headed if Gerard hadn't ended up in jail, nowhere good IMO.
