Gerard #badenclay says Allison didn't know why she was feeling the way she was.

Gerard #badenclay says he cared about Allison but didn't want to interrogate her about what was wrong.

#BadenClay is describing Allison's "mood fluctuations" during a trip they took to South America.

the beginning of her depression commenced when they got married and she probably saw him, for the first time, as he really was and came to the realisation of who she had actually married. I don't necessarily think it was the medication at all.

Gerard says Allison initially seemed better. Then the area had the highest snowfalls in 100 years. #badenclay

Gerard says they were in an area that was a high risk of avalance. They were relocated to a hotel. #badenclay

Gerard: Allison did not respond well to that situation at all. #badenclay

Even I with my deep conviction that he killed Allison, could never ever have thought he would be this self absorbed on the stand. He must have given this spiel over and over to his changing legal team, and must have spent countless nights in Arthur Gorrie feeling that his biggest achievements were not spelled out for the world to hear. So he is doing it himself. In hindsight, Byrne gave the abbreviated version this morning. We are in for some sickening days!

Gerard #badenclay is talking about the International Scout Centre again. He is great-grandson of Scouts founder Robert Baden-Powell.

Oh, lordy. :banghead:

Byrne is really winding up GBC to paint the picture of Allison as emotionally unstable, depressed, anxious, panicky, and an overall nutcase. That could backfire on them...

I think it smacks desperation. If he really loved her as much as he said, his recollections would have been tempered with some more 'heart warming', affectionate, funny moments in their early relationship.

3:40pm: Mr Baden-Clay said he and his wife travelled to New York after leaving South America.

"We then went to New York, generally speaking she was fine, but there were not days she was not fine," he said.

He said the couple then went on to London.

"Then she crashed ... she got to a point where she was not good at all," he said.

Mr Baden-Clay said he took Allison to hospital where doctors said her mood-swings would abate after she stopped taking the anti-malaria drug Lariam.

Gerard: There were times she thought, paranoia, I suppose, the sky was falling in. #badenclay

Gerard: I covered for her by saying she was not well, had a cold, a headache, that sort of thing. #badenclay

Gerard says she was off work for a couple of days. He said people died in avalanches in the area. #badenclay

Why is he saying she was not able to communicate? She probably didn't WANT to communicate! :twocents:

Doc, I think that they would have good him to keep it simple, but this isn't Byrne's show....this is the Gerred Show. Have you noticed how not even his family get a look in on the diatribe.

And I'm also wondering what all this guff about the side-effects of Lariam have to do with anything that may be relevant? Those side effects wear off once the drug is stopped. Unless they're implying that Allison had an underlying predisposition to being depressed...

All this rubbish about volcanoes, avalanches, Princess Di, Kieran Perkins, etc etc blah blah - methinks the cake is being well and truly over-egged! But then, I'm not on the jury
