I wish this was televised. Then I think we would have a better chance of reading body language. I'm aware that no one here really agrees with me and that's okay, but maybe he is actually upset. Or maybe I'm naive.

No I think he would be genuinely upset. Whatever horrible things he has done he must have loved her at one point.

Going on and on about wanting a boy is really strange. It just doesn't sound like a woman would stress so much about that unless the husband had made repeated comments about it. Just coming from a woman's perspective. Sounds hinky.
