Defence: "It's alleged there has been a violent, intentional murder. There is no cause of death...no injuries able to be found." #badenclay

Slide being shown now says jury has to believe Crown case is "only rational inference that can be drawn from the circumstances". #badenclay

Oh dear ..... I thought death by PowerPoint was the reserve of conference speakers.

Byrne says no evidence of crushing, fractures. That's the uncontradicted evidence from the pathologist. #badenclay

Byrne says there was something on the ribs on the left hand side that was a "possible bruise". #badenclay

David Murray ‏@TheMurrayD 48s
Larynx, voice box, was intact. Hyoid bone in neck was not fractured or damaged - defence #badenclay

And, it's certainly not the case that these are ALWAYS damaged even with manual strangulation

I am waiting for the suicide theory to be mentioned.

She was fully clothed, with everything in place - defence #badenclay

Yes, but also with a glove tip??!!

How then did she die? There was no evidence of breaks to Allison's ribs, collarbone, or spine #badenclay

Caroline Overington ‏@overingtonc 33s

There were no signs of a struggle in the house #badenclay

Byrne says Dr Milne had seen thousands of CT scans and could see no defects. He called in a radiologist who could see nothing. #badenclay

Sarah Elks ‏@sarahelks 54s
Defence is discussing the lack of injuries found on Allison's body. No damage to bones, hyoid bone, voice box. No haemorrhages. #badenclay

  • #131
Caroline Overington ‏@overingtonc 44s

Her skeleton - her bone structure - was intact #badenclay

Wonder if Byrne will discuss the scratches, the leaves in her hair, the emails and phone calls to TM. Circumstantial evidence is a rope with many parts. The parts are there and the PT will bring it out loud and clear!

David Murray ‏@TheMurrayD 1m
Specialist radiologist could see no defect - defence #badenclay

So, she clearly didn't jump off a bridge, and we know she didn't overdose.....soooooooo

Caroline Overington ‏@overingtonc 42s

On the other hand, Allison had been diagnosed with depression and had a history of panic attacks #badenclay

David Murray ‏@TheMurrayD 48s
Larynx, voice box, was intact. Hyoid bone in neck was not fractured or damaged - defence #badenclay

And, it's certainly not the case that these are ALWAYS damaged even with manual strangulation

BUT Smothering would easily succeed without damaging the hyoid bone, larynx, voice box.....

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 22s

Byrne says Allison was 43, history of asthma, long term diagnosis of depression. #badenclay

Byrne says Allison had alcohol in her system, at least half, possibly all due to decomposition. #badenclay

Byrne says neither the pathologist, nor associated experts could come up with a cause of death. #badenclay

  • #136
Not if they are smothered.

The jumper being pulled up over Allison's head means nothing, that may have been as a result of being dragged and her clothing being left as is.

Defence: 'Not only was there no determination of cause of death, there was no determination of definite injuries' #badenclay (@liztilley84)

David Murray ‏@TheMurrayD 1m
Pathologist noted Allison's medical history of moderate to severe depressive disorder, transient suicidal thoughts - defence #badenclay

  • #138
here we go....

Caroline Overington ‏@overingtonc 27s

There were traces of both alcohol and anti-depressants in Allison's system #badenclay

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 17s

Byrne says pathologist looked at causes that "could not be excluded". Alcohol, medication was one, although unlikely. #badenclay

Byrne says drowning, fall, could not be excluded, although unlikely. #badenclay

  • #140
Yep! Exactly. Just saying that not all cases of strangulation even break the hyoid bone and leave damage to other structures.
