Byrne says Gerard didn't lose his temper. He went to work, called in staff individually and told them what had happened. #badenclay

"Gerard #badenclay is not one to rise to great passion and explode" in a temper, his defence barrister tells jury, even when affair exposed

Michael Kersnovske ‏@MKersnovske 44s
"Toni McHugh was just someone in the background. She was not a motive." Defence tells jury #tennews #badenclay

Byrne: That's the type of temperament that the evidence shows you that Gerard Baden-Clay has.

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 5s
Byrne says Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller vigorously put questions to Gerard and he still remained calm. #badenclay

You saw him cross examined by a very experienced Crown prosecutor - defence #badenclay
You've had the benefit of seeing Gerard give evidence for days - defence #badenclay

Caroline Overington ‏@overingtonc 31s

Gerard admitted the affair to Allison months earlier, yet there was no explosion, no tempers frayed #badenclay

We only have Gerry's word there were never any arguments, and his word is worth zilch.

If TM didn't believe a word he said, why should you????? Good point Mr Byrne....good point. I thank-you for highlighting the fact of copious previous untruths being spoken to all and sundry....to the jury. Two thumbs up!!!
:great:

Gold! I wonder if the Crown will focus on that little slip!

And reconnected with TM, restarted the affair without telling Allison, whilst still going along to see therapists to deal with the previous infidelity with TM.

Byrne says Gerard was not hiding anything. He was trying to find his wife. #badenclay

Byrne says that if there was going to be a trigger, an explosion, it would have been when Allison found out. #badenclay

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 9s
Byrne says there were tears but no raised voices. It was done calmly. #badenclay

What was done calmly - the murder???

Woops was that a freudian slip?

Wow!! I have also been thinking about J. Frosts statement where she says that the affair of GBC and TM had progressed to the point where he was staying at hers until the early morning hours (words to that effect sorry) - obviously this was before Allison found out in 2011, but IMO it probably wasn't unusual for the car to be coming and going in the night, so the girls probably wouldn't notice it any more, nothing unusual.

Yes, it is not unusual for nobody to hear anything. I think I'm outside the norm, the smallest thing can wake me yet as a child, I lived near a train line that regularly had large diesel freight trains running at all hours and never heard them.

Byrne says the only emotion was when he was "reliving" parts of his life with Allison and the shock of her going missing. #badenclay

because the Defence team advised him to do that - IMO

David Murray ‏@TheMurrayD 52s
The only emotion he showed was when he was reliving parts of his life with Allison and the shock of her going missing - defence #badenclay
There is no evidence of him ever being violent - defence #badenclay

I wonder how Toni feels about all this? That would be pretty hard to listen to.
I wish Heart ruled head would come back and let us know if she's doing ok.

Byrne says they might think premeditated murder is absurd on the evidence presented. #badenclay

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 22s
Byrne says they might think spontaneous murder with a background of the Footy Show is just as unbelievable. #badenclay

12:39pm: The court has heard Mr Baden-Clay promised to be with Ms McHugh "unconditionally" from July 1, 2012.

But Mr Byrne said Mr Baden-Clay had no intention of leaving his wife for Ms McHugh.

He said Ms McHugh did not believe the July 1 date to be set in stone.

"[She said] 'I thought he's pulling a number out of thin air. In actual fact, I just didn't believe it. I didn't believe it at all'," Mr Byrne said.
