The woman is now in her 40s and was forced to bear children/siblings by her own father. There have been domestic violence where law enforcement went after the batterer for rape, even while the woman had not been able to leave. Obviously, if they could go after those rapists they can and will go after the Garridos.

why do you think they didn't file those charges then? why do you say they will be filed later? thanks.

I have basically ignored this thread because As you may have noticed I do not think a trial is necessary.
The USA has better things to do with our money like get some better laws in place, get some cops to actually work
and find the kids.

But PG can very easily be handled.
JC's father offered to kill the SOB;

Unless I missed something reading the charge sheet, the rape charges appear to go through to 1998, when she would have been 17/18, around the time the second daughter was born. Is there a particular reason for that? Did the rapes stop then or is it a statute of limitations/consent thing? That aspect didnt make sense to me, I would have thought those charges would have covered the entire period.

Maybe because when she turned 18 she became an adult? Although you can still be raped as an adult, but maybe it gets a different name once she became an adult? ?!?!?

Statutory rape occurs when the victim is automatically considered incapable of giving legal consent by a pre-defined set of legal criteria. In North America this mainly refers to a person being too young to be able to intelligently consent to sex. No force or other coercion is required for Statutory Rape to apply.

Yes of course they should continue to interview her.
Garrido expects us to be amazed at the "heart warming" story.
He also wrote JC's first amendments rights have been violated, so presumably he might expect her to be telling this "heart warming" story. I wonder if they discussed this "heart warming" story before he showed up with her and two kids in tow.

I am sure he gave her some kind of a script...
Perhaps long ago in case someone comes knocking on the door.
But he will try to say that JC did not have a lawyer present when she was questioned.
He more then likely did tell her to ask for one.

She is with great support now that will teach her the difference when her rights were really violated,
and had she not talked she would have gone back to that back yard.

I have a question....

Why are some of the charges "forcible rape" and others are "forcible lewd act upon a child" which then go on to say that the victim stated that intercourse took place during the acts and that "force, violence, threats, duress, menace, and threat of great bodily harm" were used? Is there some kind of subtle difference or advantage to charging them with lewd acts on a child rather than adding more forcible rape charges? I looked up the CA code, but I don't see why they would pick one over the other. TIA
