Something in the A&E video that came out loud & clear, the client contacted Shannan via Craigslist. He had "responded" to her Craigslist posting. She called him and made arrangements to met him. So, in Shannan's case, there was a record of the phone number that the client used (note:assuming this was JB.) For him to reply to her ad, there had to be an IP address and possibly an email address connected to his response.

Perhaps this is the main difference between Shannan's case and those of the other women.

I'm wondering if it's possible they were all recruited out of the same strip club, or if the person who recruited them travelled the strip club circuit and recruited the girls at different clubs. Perhaps this person works in that field, or maybe he's a client who stalked the girls at the clubs, then talked them into escorting, and "courted them" once they were in that business. I'm also wondering if this person pushed or cajoled the girls into doing "parties". If you've ever spent any time on Utopia Guide, you know what a "monger party" is, and what goes on at one.

I don't know if Maureen ever did the strip club scene, but I do know that she posted on the Sexy Jobs site, where girls listed which specific jobs they were willing to do...private dancing, film, modeling etc.

There is a cluster of strip clubs on LI that are at the center of my map loop. I've been fixated on these clubs for awhile...Cherri Bombs,Cafe Royale Billy Deans, etc. etc. Who owns these clubs, and who worked these clubs is something I need to find out. No clue how to go about that.

Any thoughts anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

This has been my hunch from the very beginning. All of the writing is on the wall..

1. At least two of the GB4 worked as strippers.
2. We have the sister of one of the victims stating that someone at the strip club where she was dancing approached her and encouraged her to earn more money boy working "the party". This, in turn, led to her being pimped out as a prostitute at those "parties" and then eventually through Craiglist.
3. Strip clubs are a known mob-run industry.
4. Testimony & convictions exist on Long Island and NYC for mob associates recruiting their dancers to be prostitutes. All of it starts with asking them to work the special parties like the high-stakes poker games.
5. Mob members have been convicted on Long Island & NYC for running prostitution rings advertising on Craigslist.
6. SG's driver, MP has a human trafficking conviction for attempting to sneak an illegal immigrant into the country.
7. Last week's arrests show how the mob is active in the human trafficking business and is actively seeking to bring in immigrants to first work as strippers at their clubs (and as previously mentioned, prior testimony of mob members confirms that they actively recruit their dancers to work for them as prostitutes).
8. One of the clubs linked to last week's arrest is five minutes away (one or two exits down the expressway) from the Holiday Inn Express where two of the GB4 operated from.
9. Another one of the strip clubs named in last week's arrest is located in midtown Manhattan, five minutes away from Times Square, the Port Authority, Penn Station & the train stop where SG arrives in NYC.
10. The rest of the strip clubs linked to the case have not been announced but I think it will be no surprise if one of them is the club located in West Islip or the club located in West Babylon (which are both five minutes away from ALC's home) as well as a certain strip club in the Bronx which is also located five minutes away from where a GB4 victim was last seen alive.
11. If you include the bodies of the two hispanic male victims that were found in Manorville at the same time as the women's bodies were found in the same stretch of woods (I still don't know why the police refuse to even acknowledge that these unidentified victims exist & could be related), you actually have three men, eight women (nine if you include SG), and a child all found dead on two concentrated area but with different MO's, cause of deaths, & years of deaths. It is more likely that two makeshift graveyards were utilized by multiple members of a crime organization then it is to think that one mastermind SK "evolved". Let's not also forget the discovery of large quantities of dead roosters in that same Manorville area (suggestive of someone discarding the casualties of organized -fighting).
12. There has been a noticeable lack of police cooperation (as we heard from each of the GB4 victim's families). Many of you even suggested that in your minds it appears almost as if there is some sort of police cover-up going on.
13. Some of the people named in last week's mob arrest (as well as in some previous organized-crime arrests) have direct ties to residences within Oak Beach as well as Gilgo Beach communities.
14. The A&E special made it clear to us that many of the victims worked with "Agencies". Past convictions & testimonies associated with the busts of former agencies in the Long Island & NYC area show direct ties to both Italian & Russian mobs). 15. Last week's sex trafficking arrests included members of both Italian & Russian mobs too.
15. It has been a mystery as to why two of the victims would feel comfortable enough to honor the request to leave their cell phones behind. What if they knew that they were going to a party or poker game where there would be a few VIP's present who do not want to risk having their photo taken?

There is indeed a direct link to this case but most members here do not want to acknowledge it because it involves the mob. As soon as I bring up the mob I get attacked with posters who incorrectly think I am trying to suggest that the victims of this case are the victims of some sort of sloppy mob hit (that is not what I am suggesting).

I have often wondered if both Alex and MP who have worked as drivers, were connected to these strip clubs and MP may have smuggled more than one woman into the country. It does appear than Shannan was working for MP instead of MP working for Shannan. I do not believe she was working independently.

Has anyone found any contradictory statements made by Dave Schaller?

Here's some things that stick out for me:

1) He was the last to see Amber.

2) Amber was the last known victim.

3) He's really into fishing given his picture with the largest striped bass I've ever seen (myspace link below). That picture is in front of Northeast Bait & Tackle in Huntington (which is on the opposite shore of Long Island). But, he lived with Amber in West Babylon on the south shore and would almost definitely be familiar with Captree/Ocean Parkway area if he was into stripped bass fishing. Burlap is used extensively on charter fishing boats.

4) Amber's disappearance was never reported to police, as far as I can tell. Dave asked her sister, Kim Overstreet, if she knew where she was (the next day, Sep. 3), and she reportedly said "Don't worry about it". That's it??? You're not going to report her missing!!! So police might have a chance in hell of finding her??? C'mon, man.


He had some type of verbal crutch that he used on the A&E special (kept repeating something, I forget, but I think is was something like "Know what I mean?" or "Ya know?"). Is anyone expert on the verbal and non-verbal cues of lying that can analyze his behavior (hands in pockets? etc. etc.)? I always heard that repeating questions was a sign.

He's definitely made some weird statements in his 48 hours interview:
“I walked out the front door with her,” Schaller recalls. “I was like, ‘Be safe.’ She gave me a hug and a kiss….and she left.”

Using a phrase "...I was like..." sounds like he's fabricating the scenario.

Can someone swing by Northeast Bait & Tackle in Huntington and see if they have burlap bags on hand for bringing home huge fish???

I did think his sadness over her death was real. Neither he or Amber's sister called LE to report her missing because they had too much to hide. Sad.

I think the strip club connection sounds like a very credible possibility, but (and maybe this was poor reporting) I thought that I read in Megan's thread reports that she got into prostitution because of her boyfriend Akeem. He was the one who urged her to sell herself (and what an absolute , if that is true). I need to go back to find that article.

Of course, it is possible that she met her boyfriend through a strip club.

According to this article in New York Magazine, Shannan Gilbert did have a history of posting her ads in craigslist. I just thought I should point this out.

This doesn't mean she didn't use Back Page also. It doesn't mean Ms. Gilbert didn't arrange her meeting with JB via Back Page either.

In that link that I posted above, it states that Meagan met Akeem when a group of guys came over to the apartment she shared with her boyfriend at the time. That boyfriend went to prison (it doesn't say what he did to earn that prison sentence). After that, Megan and Akeem started to date. Poor thing-she had terrible taste in men.

I wonder why her mother wouldn't believe that she was a stripper? She absolutely could have been working as a stripper, even though it sounds like boyfriend of the year (ugh, he really creeps me out) introduced her to the world of prostitution.

One of the things that is really difficult to discern (for most people-especially those who aren't speech therapists, language teachers or dialect coaches) is the accent/pronunciation pattern from your native area. It often takes years and relocation to another area where the speakers have a different accent, to be able to understand what your local accent really sounds like.

Amanda states that he sounds plain and doesn't have an accent. To me, this says that he IS a New Yorker. She is a young person, who (I think) has lived her entire life in the same area. The majority of the speakers that she hears are most likely those with New York accents, so to her, he will sound plain/non-accented. It's not going to break the case, but to me, it does kind of reiterate that we are most likely looking for a local.

I don't know a lot about voice changers, but I did ask my husband, who is a gamer. He plays a game online, and says that there are people who use voice changers. It's a fairly international group who play this game when he's online. He said that the players sound garbled, metallic, or like Mickey Mouse. If they're speaking English, then he can understand them, but he can't hear any sort of accent other than the Mickey Mouse sounds or metallic sounds from the voice changer. I would guess that these gamers probably aren't spending a lot of money on state-of-the-art voice changers, so perhaps the higher end voice changers are different.

Melissa's boyfriend (I think it was him) said that the caller sounded drunk. Now this could be due to alcohol, but it could also be someone trying to speak with a New York accent and not being very successful. Amanda is young, but I would assume that she'd be able to know what a drunk person sounded like-she's probably seen enough movies and TV to know slurred speech. My guess is that this guy is local, had no fear in calling Amanda, but had to work up the courage to call the boyfriend-which tells me that he probably wasn't someone trying to do a New York accent and ending up sounding like a drunk.

If I remember correctly Amanda is Melissa's sister... and they are from the Buffalo area. In my experience there is a definite difference between the accent of a Buffalo native and a New York or Long Island native. JMO fwiw.

Thanks for that info! I didn't realize that, but judging from a site that I found, it sounds to me (based on the description given in this site) like the Buffalo accent is a hybrid of the NY accent mixed with the Northern Cities Vowel Shift-style of pronunciation (i.e. WI, IL, MI, Northern Ohio).

If we could hear voice samples, especially of the caller pronouncing anything with a short 'a', then I think we'd have a very good idea of his background.

At what point in NY does that accent wane? What I mean is, do people in between Buffalo and the NYC area have varying degrees of it?
