I apologize if this question has been answered already: Does SCPD actually have this belt in their possession? Is it possible that the belt, which
SCPD Commissioner Geraldine Hart describes as being recovered at the scene where one of the bodies was found, and also believed to have been handled (not necessarily owned) by the killer, is no longer in their possession?

The release of this information and images, related to the appeal to the public in helping to identify it, is perplexing...

If the belt is in their possession, why not produce it then? Especially if appealing to the public to help in identifying it, and/or its owner?

Exactly! I think that's the million dollar question. Frustrating!

Just to expand a little further, if the appeal to the public in helping to possibly identify the belt is genuine, why only release two images that only illustrate a fraction of the entire the entire piece of evidence? To make an analogy, if the piece of evidence were a glove instead of a belt, it would be the equivalent of releasing images of only the thumb and forefinger...why not show the entire glove w. details of color, size, possible production date period, material, size and every other detail that would aid in identifying?

Podcast- Debut Jan 27, 2021-
Unraveled: Long Island Serial Killer" is a search for answers in one of the biggest murder mysteries in American history. It’s been ten years since eleven bodies were found on the coast of Long Island. For those who are interested and haven't seen, I will post info here.
I am not exactly sure where to post this where it won't be missed.

New Long Island Serial Killer Podcast Has 'Explosive' Loeb Info
I listened to this podcast today in its entirety. I have followed the LISK investigation, as well as the Loeb trial, and subsequent related federal trial of Loeb vs. former SCPD Chief Burke from the very beginning.
There is only really one piece of significant ‘new’ information that I was not aware of previously. And it speaks to the entire nature of the investigation, or lack there of, on the the part of SCPD, then headed by Burke: This podcast, investigating Burke and SCPD in its handling of LISK investigation, never would have happened had it not been for the fact that Loeb and the Executive producer of the podcast, just happen to be old friends who grew up together on LI.

But back to the belt: So is it currently in the possession of SCPD? Or was it in their possession and, somehow, no longer is, and all they have left are a handful of photos of it? And no, it isn’t preposterous to believe that they don’t actually have it any longer. After all, if it was recovered w. one of the Gilgo Four bodies, around the time that
then SCPD Chief Burke shut down the investigation and blocked the FBI from participating, anything could have happened to that piece of evidence including it just disappearing into thin air.

Has anyone ever heard JB speak or actually listened to his voice? I did a quick search but couldn't really find much in terms of him speaking.
It's interesting to note that he his originally from Queens, started his career in NY and joined Suffolk County in 1986 as this article states (although they need to update their info).
James Burke.

On a side note, another NY cop arrested for "production of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬." If the cops are committing unspeakable crimes, how can we expect them to "serve and protect" ?
New York City Police Officer Charged with Production of Child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

IMO There is no way that LISK will be found unless he slips up and makes a mistake, or is turned in by another. And if the cops are crooked obviously they will not put in the work.

And then the good cops who want to lock this monster up, does it then become a question of resources; money, trust etc?
Thankful for this community, WS!

Here’s the thing: no matter which way you slice it, SCPD is already implicated as one collective POI in the LISK case. Only an arbitrary investigation could sort through all of the muck, and get to the bottom of it...
The current SCPD Chief GH was either specifically tapped to do that, since she came from the LI field office of the F.B.I. (you know, the same F.B.I office that then SCPD Chief JB blocked from coming in to the LISK investigation?), or she wasn’t.

On a recent episode of 48 Hours with Erin Moriarty (Season34:Episode15) there is a very quick snip of his voice in a video clip. Also I think there was what sounded like another very brief voice clip of him on Episode 1 of the Unraveled Podcast (Alexis Linkletter/Billy Jensen) time code: approx 33:30.

"Bellone appointed corrupt James Burke as his Police Chief, after Burke was already caught having sex with prostitutes in the back of his police car, leaving his gun at a convicted felon's home, and lying to police investigators. Then, after Bellone appointed him, Burke was arrested by the FBI for beating prisoners at police headquarters, charged with toting bags of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, and obstructing the FBI. All while part of Bellone's administration."
And...

"Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced the nomination of Geraldine Hart – Senior Supervisory Resident Agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Long Island Office -- to serve as the next Police Commissioner for the Suffolk County Police Department. Hart, a 21-year veteran of the Bureau, would become the first woman to hold the position of Suffolk County Police Commissioner in the history of the Department. Geraldine possesses the integrity, competence, and excellence that we are looking for in someone to lead the Suffolk County Police Department,” said Suffolk County Executive Bellone. “As our next Police Commissioner, she will bring a fresh perspective and build on the progress that we have made over the last two years.”

Stellar find. And oh, the irony of it all in the content of that Jay Oliver interview is classic.
Right??
And the other irony is is no mentioning of LISK. Why didn't Jay Oliver bring that up? Was he instructed not to by JB? Just odd.
No big deal, it's just One of the largest case in SCPD history and NYS.

Detective B—So do you believe that the current SCPD Chief, GH, was appointed ‘with conditions’, possibly prohibiting/restricting any internal investigation of current and/or former members of SCPD in relation to the “ongoing” LISK investigation? Just trying to make sense of GH appointment in relation to the context of your post.
