The JonBenet Ramsey Case in popular culture

I did actually watch a lot of the OJ Simpson trial and you could say argue that it became a circus and part of popular culture rather than a serious trial. Many on this board think that Patsy Ramsey played a role in the murder of her daughter which would be ironic is that is the right way of putting it as she was apparently upset at what she viewed as OJ Simpson getting away with it. I think I remember a next door neighbour saying it and although I am not certain it may have been in The Case Of JonBenet Ramsey which of course implicated Burke Ramsey in the murder of his sister. I will check that but here is a popular culture report that references the OJ Simpson case:

Of course we are coming up to another anniversary in the case and it has seemed as cold as any other cold case to me recently but the anniversary is likely to generate a little more interest in the case:

When I have watched Forensic Documentaries my observation has been than females appear to be rather good Forensic Scientists as there appear to be more of them than male. She might have a point but I always find rather ambitious actresses complain about this kind of thing as we are all human:

Laura Fraser says female-led TV shows like Traces are "still really rare"

Sorry actors. As the Bishop said to the Actor.

The JonBenet Ramsey case seems to be studied more than any other case and here are some youngsters analysing the documentary Casting JonBenet:

Here is another page about the upcoming Podcast:

Ahead of the premiere of “The Killing of JonBenét: The Final Suspects,” executive producer Dylan Howard met up with the late JonBenét Ramsey’s father, John Ramsey, who participated in the highly anticipated podcast.

“He said something that was so heartbreaking,” Howard reveals in a special behind-the-scenes episode. “He said to me that JonBenét was killed because of him.”

The investigative journalist explains that John, 76, believes he and JonBenét were “targeted” ahead of her death in December 1996.

JonBenét Ramsey Memorabilia Collector Selling Murdered Tot’s Tricycle For $100,000

“He had just sold his business to a significant company that obviously gave him millions and millions of dollars. So someone may have been jealous of his success,” Howard speculates. “He said to me, ‘I live every day knowing that my daughter was killed, likely, because of me.’ And that broke my heart.”

John and Patsy Ramsey leave their attorney Lin Wood’s office during a break in the Ramseys’ questioning by Boulder, Colorado, authorities in Atlanta, Georgia.

Fellow executive producer Matt Sprouse notes that John is aware it may be “too late to get justice” in the unsolved case, but the businessman hopes “to get these answers for his children and his grandchildren.”

“He knows that it’s too late to get justice in some ways for JonBenét because someone has gotten away with this for 23 years, but at least he can go to his grave knowing that he found answers for his family,” Sprouse says.

JonBenét was found dead on Christmas Day at her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado. A handwritten ransom note was also infamously discovered in the house.

Initially, authorities suspected that John and his wife, Patsy Ramsey, were involved in the murder, but the couple, along with JonBenét’s brother, Burke Ramsey, were eventually cleared.

If you have information that could help investigators and the Ramseys identify JonBenét’s killer, please email [email protected].

It is my opinion of course that the Ransom Note was no more or no less than a sick joke of demented mind.

John Ramsey is correct when he states that his daughter was likely killed because of him. Not for the reasons he wants you to believe though.

On or between December 25, and December 26, 1996, in Boulder County, Colorado, John Bennett Ramsey, did unlawfully, knowingly, recklessly, and feloniously permit a child to be unreasonably placed in a situation which posed a threat of injury to the child’s life or health, which resulted in the death of JonBenet Ramsey, a child under the age of sixteen.

jaejae,
“He had just sold his business to a significant company that obviously gave him millions and millions of dollars. That theme accords with the ransom note, but John at 76 has to have some defense does he not?

Its a narrative that makes no sense, since the same jealous person must be out there plotting the next move?

It obviously deos not break JR's heart to appear on documentaries, selling his pitch on the case along with his image rights to JonBenet's photographs?

He has made millions of dollars from JonBenet's death and he does not fund any investigative work, he leaves that to charity outreach by the relatives of Lou Smit who solicit donations to test suspect dna against the crime-scene profile.

JR is a persona non grata, right thinking people do not want to associate with him, the Republican Party rejected him, his epitaph might end up reading Homicide Suspect RIP.

There were four people in the Ramsey house on Christmas Day, later that night one was dead, and the remaining three became prime suspects.

There is zero forensic evidence that links to anyone outside of the Ramsey house, so just like the theft of Tamara Ecclestone's jewellery valued at $67 Million, JonBenet's death was an inside job!

Jewelry theft from British billionaire heiress Tamara Ecclestone could be an 'inside job,' dad says The home is reportedly decked out with 24-hour security and guards.

Hi UK Guy and thanks for the post.

You may well be right and I thought with the publicity in 1996/97 and those awful child beauty pageant photos I used to think that the Ramsey's were responsible but now I do not. It may be a rarity on here but I believe John, Patsy and Burke loved JonBenet a great deal. People have different views as you must know living in the UK. I think there was an intruder but it was no ordinary intruder. Cheers.

Of course today is an anniversary in this case the date that JonBenet's body was found. I think of the crime being a Christmas night murder and I believe that is what is on her gravestone:

Today is Thursday, Dec. 26, the 360th day of 2019. There are five days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Dec. 26, 1996, 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her family's home in Boulder, Colorado. (To date, the slaying remains unsolved.)
