The message on the door

Hmmm.....maybe, just maybe, it didn't say what 'they' reported it said. Maybe it said something else? Has anyone here actually seen the words?

Anne Bremner confirmed that the words were "She saved him. Can you save her?" She said she received photos of actual painted words on door.

Not too far fetched. Somewhere earlier a couple off us talked about other fantasy/film links that seemed to fit that surreal feel also including some anime, vampires genre, etc. I think we can easily add ancient greek tragedies to the list! However, I would have to wonder who would really be so involved in the 'drama' of all this. Can't see that fits Rebeccca!

Agree. We do know from Dina's Maxie House website that Dina was into dramatic play acting, painting and poetry with Max. Strange, now I see that words about the dress-up play acting and specific title of maudlin poem have been edited out of that webpage.

Definately a womans' work! Men don't talk/write like that!

Actually JS spoke in first person in an audio to his shareholders...

I dont know anyone who "talks" like that....

that message only make sense to the person that wrote it....

Maybe it was DS trying to frame JS for the murder she committed in a rage?
Maybe it was JS trying to make it look like a vendetta against him after he commited it in a rage?
Maybe it was AS sarcastically saying to the world.... ha!... she saved him? meaning RZ...what a joke.... well world......... can you save her? Maybe AS was jealous of his brother's success... wanted his brother's respect... and loyalty by killing the woman who he believed killed his brother's son?

If questioned... wouldn't RZ defend herself by saying... I tried to save him...
she gave him CPR and called EMT.... what more could she do.... if she was murdered someone didn't think she did enough..

DS sure is putting ALL her effort into proving RZ killed her son.. ALL HER EFFORT... ignoring any other possibilities... and only pursuing that RZ killed MS.... wow.... after a year that is somewhat irrational... I would want the truth.. not to continue some kind of jealous vendetta....so was that message from DS to JS? a sarcastic rant.... because at one point maye JS defended RZ saying she tried to save him... and DS's response is... sarcstic... she saved him?..... ha!.... can you save her?

to me....it does not come across as a suicide note... it comes across as a sarcastic rant...

the more I think about the message on the door...the more I want to know exactly who AS is....

AS sure left town quick..... he had the time... he was the only person in that home... we know for sure was there... he had his reasons to kill her... motive... he knows how to ties knots... admits to watching 🤬🤬🤬🤬...

It would be very important to know exactly what tme the bondage 🤬🤬🤬🤬 was looked at on the computer.... was AS in town then?

He sure knows how to tie knots.... and he takes ownership...in the 911 call..
"I've got a woman..."

Maybe AS did lose it... on RZ.... mixed with a few fettishes of his own... in the morning... he calls police... texts his brother...

I sure would like to hear the polygraph... view a video of his questioning...

The painted Spreckels door message: "She saved him. Can you save her" wreaks of someone who reads and writes poetry.

I agree that DS is putting ALL her effort into slandering RZ who can no longer defend herself. This lends credence to one of your takes that the door message is a sarcastic rant by DS to JS.

The door message also may be a sarcastic message from RZ to JS. I agree with you that DS seems to be pointing the finger at RZ. I might do the same thing if I suspected someone caused the death my child. I think it is a natural reaction. I'm pretty sure a deceased person can't sue for slander so Dina can pretty much make any allegation without consequences.

What about slandering a minor child, XZ? We have learned through Dr. Melinek's report that she reviewed content from another blog site and cited this blog as a resource that was given to her. This particular blog has thrown accusations towards XZ. It is a blog, they have a right to their opinion. What makes it different is this blog was cited as a resource in Dr. Melinek's report. The affiliation is concerning and who gave Melinek the material. I disagree and in my opinion Dina is bordering on slandering a minor child.

But you see, that would mean inserting yet another twist - that Rebecca wrote a message in third person. Much more likely in my opinion that was either a staged message, after the fact, to hopefully make it look like suicide (big fail in my mind and not the case) or someone writing about Rebecca (she). Further, you have to twist it, as some have even suggested to make things fit, and claim it was Rebecca was hoping someone would come and stop any suicide attempt just in time before she was gone forever (even though the same folks apparently claim she bound her feet and hands to be successful). People who commit suicide, especially those who are successful at it do not want anyone to stop it. You can claim that was just some darkly romantic gesture to go out in a flame, but I do not think Rebecca was the dark, drama Queen amongst this cast of characters. Nope, definitely not.

To me, the words on the door are a sarcastic message of retaliation. "She saved him (and obviously RZ didn't) and who can save her" (and no one did) is like a tit-for-tat retaliation, quid pro quo, or an "equalizing" of sorts from a psychological perspective.

Did JS say to someone regarding Max and RZ "well, she made efforts to save him, she could have never tried to do anything bad to Max on purpose" type of verbage? Did that sort of verbage enrage someone? Is the message on the door to prove a point---like yeah, RZ did such a swell job of saving Max (insert sarcasm) just like the swell job of protecting RZ here in this room (insert sarcasm again).

Perhaps the killer of RZ really didn't try to make the scene look like a suicide...he/she just wanted to make sure their fingerprints, DNA, and shoeprints weren't there as would a careful murderer would do. They cleverly hid them by being meticulous. Wasn't it AS who first threw around the notion of suicide with his first text to JS and in so doing planted the seed?

The blog stuff is still up. If the lawyers for RZ's family feel it is libelous, why don't they say something publicly or sue the blog? I don't agree that Dina is to blame for what appears on a blog.

BBM. I agree that Dina is not to blame for what appears on a blog. What she IS responsible for, however, IMO is that this blog is cited in Dr. Melinek's report which if I'm not mistaken, was Lash's point. And a blog really had no business being in a supposedly scientific report.

I agree. IMO the supposedly scientific report lost all credibility when citing that blog and other sources. Actually I am stunned she would cite those sources. o_O

How would Dr. Melinek even know of that blog? How would Ms. Dina Romano know of that blog? o_O

Has it been established who authored the summary report?

I don't think it has been established and this is now getting off topic (we discussed this on the Summary of Reports thread a bit). However, I can say that I don't think Dr. Bove's report was represented very well in there and I suspect Hallier did not want to release the individual reports - I think she claimed they would if the media asked and they did, so there was no choice. There appears to be some assumption/blame creep and cherry picking between Bove's report and Melinek's, more between those reports and the Summary, and yet more when Dina and Hallier present it in the media (my opinion).

I cannot logically justify why the message on the door was painted over and not preserved in evidence as it was originally found. I am curious if anyone can share an opinion that might help explain the logic behind why SDSO would make a decision to destroy evidence?

I'm not aware of any law enforcement agency that would seize personal property and after a ruling of suicide, retain it and place it into evidence storage.
Does LE still have RZ's telephone?

Yes Rudoy reported LE still has Rebecca's camera, computer and cell phone. SDSO is a LE agency that seizes property, retains it and stores it even after a suicide ruling. In my opinion destroying the evidence on the door breaks SDSO's procedure of retaining evidence even after a suicide ruling.

Snip- Rudoy told News 8 that the San Diego County Sheriff still has not returned some of Zahau's personal belongs to the family, like her camera, computer or cell phone. He said the Sheriff did make the cell phone available for an independent forensic inspection by an expert hired by the family. That forensic report still is not complete, Rudoy said.

I've never understood why the message was kept secret from the start. The secrecy surrounding the message and many other aspects of this case is unusual.

I don't get it either.
Why not release image of the message to the public? Seems rather bizarre to me.

Third party fingerprints, DNA, paint sampling, some evidence of how it was made, who made it, whatever else was on the door that would be difficult to discern from photos?

I have no idea why they would have such a policy yet return the door.
