Murder of Rachael Runyan
"The murder of Rachael Runyan is an unsolved child murder which occurred in Sunset, Utah, on August 26, 1982, when a three-year-old girl was abducted from a playground and murdered by an unknown individual. Her body was found three weeks later in a creek bed in nearby Morgan County."

This is just up the road from my home. The main suspect has passed away.

I grew up in Utah:

Susan Cox Powell (even though we all know who did it, it’s not known how or who else helped for sure, nor was her body found)
Rachael Runyan- before AMBER alert, it was known as “Rachael Alert” until 2003.
Hi-Fi Murders- the severe cruelty in this case still haunts us all.
Hi Fi Shop murders were solved quickly. But it took forever to execute Pierre and Andrews. One of the survivors was my grandparent's neighbor. Interesting side note: Pierre was a suspect in the murder of a Sargent on Hill AFB where he was stationed.

Abigail Whalley, Carleton, Lancashire UK, 11/5/31
The body of 85 year old Abigail Whalley was discoverd on the above date in her bungalow in Robins Lane, Carleton(then a small village between Blackpool & Poulton le Fylde). Abigail had been battered about the head possibly by the same device used to jemmy the door open.
A red haired man with scars, a man & woman in a 2 seater car & a vagrant where POI but either cleared or never traced.
Abigail Whalley's murder remains unsolved.

I remember reading about that case. The sheer savagery and violence inflicted on the victims itself was enough for me to remember all these years later. All because the assailants wanted to rob the hifi shop of its expensive merchandise and leave no witnesses. I won't go into what the victims endured, as three survived somehow miraculously, but it went well beyond violence in most robberies. Fortunately the men who did this were caught fairly fast and convicted. But the sheer savagery alone makes this case stand out, even 50 years later.

Unsolved murder of Gary Whitehouse, Blackpool, Lancashire, England, 26/9/95
Gary Whitehouse was on holiday in Blackpool with friends on the above date & was returning to his hotel after spending the night in Jellies nightclub. At the junction of Lytham Road/Tyldsley Road & the Manchester pub he was attacked with a pool cue by the driver of a silver or grey Ford Escort & beaten severely about the head.
Despite the severity of his injuries Gary was able to walk to the ambulance but died in hospital. I lived & worked in the hotel next door but one to the Manchester for 7 years & it's always been a pretty rough area. Sasha Marsden was murdered a short walk away in Kirby Road where I had my lock up garage

Until recently, it was Princess Doe. Now, it's probably Tiger Lady, identified recently as Wendy Louise Baker.

Just watched overview of case, this case has extended/set cold without DNA, touch, trace, etc evidence. If it’s permentantly gone, these few witness and suspect are at age where time is running out so I sure hope 1 speaks Soon. This is one of the notorious unsolvable cases left..

I live in Manhattan and there is an unsolved murder that happened in the very northern part of the island. Sarah Fox was a young woman who went for a jog in a park one afternoon and was killed. While there have been many cases of women attacked while jogging, the story of Sarah has specifically haunted me - especially since it was done the in the middle of an afternoon and there was a suspect who added drama but was never charged. imo

There is a WS thread for Sarah:

NYC: The city's only murder on 9/11/2001 occurred near midnight out in Brooklyn. Henryk Siwiak, a Polish immigrant, had been working construction near the WTC and realizing he'd be out of work that day and desperate to earn money to send home to his family, he headed to his sister's house in Queens and found a cleaning job listed in the Polish newspaper. He went to Brooklyn to an employment agency catering to Polish immigrants to fill out an application and was told he could start that night at a supermarket. He didn't know the man offering the job so he told the agency to let the man know he'd be wearing distinctive clothing, a camouflage jacket and pants. He took the subway and got off at a stop on his destination street, but 3 miles away, in an area that at that time was rather dangerous (and of course most police had been called to lower Manhattan after the WTC attacks). He was shot and killed as he walked his route. It's not known if it was a robbery, or if someone approached him and decided that with his military gear and poor, heavily accented English, that he was perhaps involved in the WTC attacks.

Sorry, I have been busy engaged in court activity and family, I have received a thread for the unfortunate jogger, I cannot make any promises of Treadway. I will give it a fresh set of eyes, and it will probably take me well, depending on this case, I can’t say how long it’ll take, but I’ll stay in touch.

The Sandy Drummond murder that happened just 3-4 miles from town here. Alan Bryant jr is one everyone seem to know in FIfe and as for disappearances, that would be Paul Johnson who has been missing from St Andrews since 2021.

Possibly you like to repost a case from your state to bring new life to cold case

The most notorious unsolved crime in every state

MISSOURI: A prepubescent girl was found decapitated in St. Louis in 1983 in a case that still haunts detectives.

On February 28, 1983, a female body with the head missing was found in an abandoned building in St. Louis. Police originally thought it was the body of a sex worker, but soon discovered that the victim was much younger than they expected —between 8 and 11 years old.

At the time, it was the only decapitation in the US that involved a person that young, according to the FBI.

The victim and the killer still remain unidentified. She is simply known as "Little Jane Doe" in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's database.

If this looks familiar or you have any info contact the proper authorities Thank you
Surely with DNA etc they can identify her race and possibly connections to family members going through ancestry heritage website
