Hi, Mr.AllGood and Golfmom and Maura and all,
I did a freeze frame of the Internet news video on one of the Durham news stations where the search warrant list of items removed from the house was obtained. The reporter did not read the list, and was very focused on the knives, which is to be expected.

However, in freezing the segments, I could tell that a Palm Pilot was the #2 item on the list of items removed.
I hate to assume, but if they took a Palm Pilot, I am almost certain that the computer or computers were also seized.
Since one of the initial reports of her death included an Email or other computer messaging, I believe that report would lend a great deal of weight to the necessity of computers being seized, Raven's obsession with all things IT aside.

If you need a link to the video I will provide it, but it was quite clear on the list as the reporter held it. I couldn't see much else other than a set of kitchen knives as #1 and the Palm Pilot as #2 on the article list.

Hope this sheds a sliver of light on their search results.
Hi to you, too, ThinkofLaura! :)
I enjoy your posts. Glad you, golf mom and misterallgood are keeping the thread active, and welcome the posts by many others like BarnGoddess and TexasGirl!!
In memory of sweet Janet ... prayers to her family and beautiful son, Kaiden.

I hope to see interest build in this case. Greta was a huge boost. The more light that shines into the shadows of a raven's nest, the better. I am very afraid for Kaiden, PrayersForMaura, and I pray for his safety.

Actually you can just go here; Search Warrant Slideshow.

The link was buried in the thread and I found it from my blog -- there is no computer on the warrant, just the palm pilot and a cell phone.

The computers were not seized, or they would have been on the inventory on the warrant -- they listed other major items, like checkbooks and even the balance in the checkbook. I worked with a police department briefly in a clerical job, and let me tell you; they are required by law to make that thing thorough.

So where is his computer? Troubling question.
Thank you for the link to the Search Warrant Slideshow.
Is it unusual for LE to release this info publicly so fast- before a suspect is even named? Before suspect is in police custody? I know that the FOI Act kicks in at some point for most crimes, but is it usually so soon?

Do the rest of you who have been following this think the release of physical info down to the coins scattered outside ( I had been wondering where that info came from) is usual?

Is LE playing this case out in a different way for some reason? If so, I hope we have her autopsy report soon. I want to know if there were defensive wounds and the time of death.

Huge alarm bells are ringing loudly with LE releasing the inventory and one basic statement that is was not a random crime. Add to that ... why is there no public outcry from family / friends ? ? ? They already know who did it!

The scattered coins has left me puzzled too, but what if someone, limited on time, wanted to make the scene at least appear to possibly be a burglary?

Goflmom, there may be only a small number of us posting on this case, but in 2 hours, over 2000 people have viewed the thread. Start writing down times and hits. I find this a bit unusual... but good.

I don't have a CLUE about how LE is handling the fact that Raven obviously has a computer but it's not on the inventory list.. just a Palm Pilot charge cord.

I don't know about the burglary thing.. I see burglars as being in a different crime category as cold-blooded murderers. ALSO, a burglar would have to get very close to her to stab her, and with her being such a great athlete, what's to say she might not come out the winner?
If it had been a faked or botched burglary, I think she would have been killed by a gunshot wound or wounds. JMO.

If Janet had been my friend or my family member, I would be on every possible news outlet to ask for swift justice, not foot-dragging.
A six month old baby is involved in the household, and to me, that makes all the difference in the world.

It is good. My stats took a big leap today, too -- they'd levelled off around 700-800 pageloads a day and today they've jumped up to nearly 1200 again. I know some folks who run regular crime-related websites who get 10 times that daily, but it's good for a blog.

It's a Fox-related bump; curious folk googling Abaroa's name.

Link above will take you to a screenshot I made that illustrates why the hits on this thread have jumped.

This site & thread are the number 1 result when you google "Janet Abaroa."

WS' esteemed member MisterallGood has written an excellent article today and it is the headline article for the Blogger News Network.
It's about Janet's murder, and here is the link:

http://www.legendgames.net/showstory.asp?page=blognews/stories/UN0000265.txt

MISTERALLGOOD, YOU ARE MY HERO!
Way to go MisterA!:bang:

My fiance' (who is in LE) seems to think that LE is handling this in a very good way. They are most likely building a case against "someone" and that is the reason for being tight-lipped! I have to say....my fiance' is usually right about these things and when LE says "This isn't a random crime" they mean they already know who that "someone" is. Let's just pray that JUSTICE for Janet comes quickly!!:behindbar

I noticed that you guys were talking a few pages back about why a computer wasn't seized...I haven't been able to keep up very well today so maybe someone could help me out on this one?!

Didn't I read somewhere that they seized "computer files"? Wouldn't that be the same thing or am I just being blonde again? :blushing:

There is a link on page 16 of this thread in a message I posted to the search warrant -- no computer was seized; a palm pilot was, and a cell.

The question is where the heck is the computer? Raven was aspiring to get into IT work; he built websites; yet they couldn't find a computer to seize? I doubt it was secretly taken -- I worked briefly for a police department here in Georgia (Non-LE capacity, clerical work), and I know those warrants, all docs relative to any case have to be complete and thorough as possible.

Could Raven have removed the computer to another location?

I'd be interested in knowing what the pawn ticket was for.

I wrote to Greta thanking her for mentioning the case on her show.

Did any of you read her blog from that show?
While she didn't mention Janet's name in the blog, she did mention murdered women where the men in their lives are suspect...
I'm paraphrasing here... check it out http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,156768,00.html

I think that's why I keep going in circles about this computer. On page 3 of the search warrant, it says "Computer Files" were to be seized. My fiance had to work all night so I wasn't able to ask him if it's possible that the computer files were supposed to be seized but perhaps the computer was already in the pawn shop and they couldn't take it? Is that possible?? This is the thing I keep going round and round about. Am I reading something wrong?

I'm pretty interested in knowing what that pawn ticket was for as well....

Maybe they were able to make a twin of the hard drive ? ? ?

It's pretty simple; page 3 tells what was supposed to be received -- the judge needs specificity like that in a warrant or they won't sign -- and the actual inventory demonstrates no computer was found.

I don't know if the warrant was constructed from some sort of standard departmental search warrant boilerplate or with the specific Abaroa residence in mind, therefore it's hard to tell if they expected to find a computer but did not, or if such search warrants always say that.

It looks like usually that search warrants are specific to a residence, based on whatever investigators saw there when first investigating the crime scene. Erego; they expected to find a 'puter, and if they seized one, they didn't list it on the inventory -- the handwritten inventory is what was actually taken from the home. No computer was inventoried, even though files from one were called for in the warrant request, the affidavit.

And that, my friends, is hinky.

IF the computer disappeared between Janet's murder and the search warrant that could cause some pretty serious problems.

We know that the computer was in the house on the 25th;
Janet was murdered the 26th;
the search was conducted the 27th.

So in his deep grief, Raven did what with his computer ? ? ?
