no news today??

Nothing that I have been able to find. Anyone else find new news???

I still say this silence from LE says much. I hope I am so very wrong...Truly.

I've gone back to look. This article that addresses Raven's actually being on the scene when the police arrived. Reading more carefully it doesn't identify Raven as the actual 911 caller. Most of other articles just state that Police responded to a 911 call.

So what do ya'll think, did he make the call or did someone else?

The affidavit indicates police originally responded to a gunshot wound call to the house around 11:58 p.m. When the first officer arrived, Raven Abaroa, the victim's husband, told him that his wife was upstairs and was hurt.

The officer found Janet Abaroa lying on her back in an upstairs bedroom with a stab wound to her chest, according to the affidavit.

Police said there was a large amount of blood near her body, as well as blood stains on the walls of the bedroom and near the side entrance to the house, the affidavit states.

I have a new entry up about this one. I discovered a small but interesting detail about this page from Raven's site.

It's plagiarized.

The benefit-of-the-doubt p.o.v. says Raven intended to go back later and insert a link attributing what he posted. The book on a guy charged with embezzling already who shows a great deal of self-absorption and narcissism already says he didn't think twice about an issue like internet plagiarism.

I reported, you decide. ;)

I wish this thread was more succinct. I have not heard anything about this murder until I read this thread. I am interested but could a timeline be addressed? You know crimeline for dummies.....it is kinda confusing. Who said what and why...and what does LE say? His personalty is being addressed but to what context?

The problem is that the published information is confusing. The police are keeping quiet and the early stories are contradictory.

His personality is relevant in terms of speculation but without the *real* facts it's tough to get a handle on whether or not he is responsible for his wife's death.

I've read every post and most of the blogging and news stories and I found some things that also caused me to raise a brow...

On the archived files of Raven's site, he thanks his "dear friend" ... a female. Wondering if there was anything going on between them? He thanks for helping him create his website ... this is a link to her site.
www.jenique.com

Additionally, the timing of their jobs and new jobs?
They both left their jobs in January.... within a few months, Janet found a new job. That would've been in March. It was reported in the link two posts ago that a co-worker of Janet's emailed her. When she didn't respond back, they went to check on her. I've been at my job several years and none of my co-workers write to check on me, but she's only been there a month or so... wonder if she confided in a colleague any fears she had of someone stalking her or regarding her husband.

After reading Raven's blog, yes, he seems fixated on himself, his tough life and money.

Raven did well in soccer when he was young. I thought they met at college so I assumed he went to college but maybe didn't graduate? He was attending night school full time, I read on his website, so he was working on a degree.
Sorry to quote my own post but i am really curious about the co-worker and why there might have been alarm when she didn't respond???

I'm just not sure that the first story regarding the co-worker is accurate. Later it is reported ....

"The affidavit indicates police originally responded to a gunshot wound call to the house around 11:58 p.m. When the first officer arrived, Raven Abaroa, the victim's husband, told him that his wife was upstairs and was hurt. "

......... and this doesn't appear to originate from the family, but the LE.

Here's another article that reinforces the idea that a co-worker may have actually made the initial call.

..................

Officers found Abaroa's body in her home on Ferrand Road at about 11 p.m. April 26 after they were alerted by the woman's co-workers.

No charges have been filed in the case, and investigators are still looking into several possibilities, Michael said.
...............

New musings . . .

1. I originally assumed the baby was at home when this murder occured. Now I'm wondering why I made that assumption . . . Could the baby have been with Raven? one article mentioned they had a new baby-sitter, maybe the baby was there.

2. I'm leaning towards the idea that someone other than Raven alerted the police. Looking back over the majority of articles on this case, the language seems pretty specifically non-specific on that score.

I just wonder why the co-workers were concerned. Was she scared of someone or her husband? Did she have a fear, a woman's intuition that something was happening. Was Raven having an affair? Were they fighting?
Money can be the root of all evil...
And was a gun actually fired?? In defense? The LE did a trace on her hands, I'm assuming to test for gun powder.

I wish there was something to go on.

I'm just having such a hard time reconciling such varying accounts of what happened. Although this version appears to come from Raven's family members so I would assume it's his version. But, even who is caring for the baby is at odds with other articles. Another article says that Raven and Kaiden are being cared for friends/church members.

(04/28/05 -- DURHAM) — Mystery surrounds this week's murder of a young Durham mother.
Janet Abaroa was found dead late Tuesday night in her Ferrand Drive home. Family members tell Eyewitness News that her husband, Raven, went to a soccer game and found his wife's body when he got home.

................

The couple had been married almost five years. They met while playing soccer at Southern Virginia University, where Janet Abaroa was an All-American.

It was their love of soccer, according to family members, that led Raven to go to a soccer game Tuesday night. When he returned, he went to Kaiden's room and kissed him good night. Raven discovered his wife's body moments later in another part of the house, according to one of his brothers. Durham police have not identified a suspect, and they have not said exactly how the woman was murdered.

Raven Abaroa and other family members are caring for Kaiden.

I have a question. All I have read in news reports is that it has been Janet's family and friends around Raven at this time. Have I missed reports of Raven's family being around him??

I apologize ahead of time if I did, but could you direct me to what I may have missed?

Thank you!!! :)

Golfmom, REALLY good links and questions. I hope you don't mind that I've updated my weblog entry from yesterday about this case with links you provided -- giving credit where it's due, of course!

I swear this is so confusing! Her family is in Virginia so reports that chuch members and friends were caring for Raven and the baby seem to make sense. In Raven's bio on his site he says the following about himself & family . . . . I haven't dug out what his home state was. edit: got it ... UTAH

http://ravenstree.blogspot.com/

While under the age of five years old I saw my parents go through a very difficult divorce. My mother was left to care for 4 children under the age of six.
............

In addition to financial challenges in my childhood, I was challenged with making new friends more often than most children. Having lived in 10 different houses and attending 10 different schools by the time I was seventeen I had no choice but to adapt or be lost in the shuffle. The constant change in schools made me quite the extravert.

They are all out west, Utah and Colorado, I think. I have received referral hits on my 'blog from a mountaineering site where a friend of Janet's sister-in-law -- presumably a relative of Raven's -- was asking for advice on the sister-in-law's behalf about getting cheap airline tickets to Durham.

From what I have been able to find, though I am not 100% positive, is that Raven was from Utah. I can only base this on a mention of where he shopped as a school boy (Mervyn's) and a blurb I found from some Mountain biker thanking Raven for taking him to Corner Canyon Trail in Utah, 2002.

Best I could find while Googling different things based on his journal.

I wanted to share that I had also found that one news report saying how friends called police the night Janet was murdered, but I chose to ignore it since it seemed to be more clear that RA had made the call. I chose to do that since the very first article was about friends....perhaps the media has it wrong now??? LE is truly keeping a lid on this one!!!

anyone interested in this case, please email fox and cnn to get it in the national spotlight...
