“I’ll Take Murder for $100 Alex” —
The Mysterious Death of Dorothy Kilgallen

Kilgallen stoked the flames to a boiling point with her investigation of the JFK assassination. She was the only reporter allowed to interview Jack Ruby during his trial for murdering Lee Harvey Oswald. Her meeting with Ruby was held behind closed doors and she had not released the details to the public. Later she traveled to New Orleans and interviewed the Mafia don Carlos Marcello to pry into his knowledge of the assassination. And then in a stunning piece of journalism, she secured Ruby’s secret testimony to the Warren Commission and broke the story on the front page of the Journal American — three months ahead of the Commission’s public release.

A decent starter article on an evergreen '60s mystery.

There is a NEW, 2024 book out now called "The Incredible Life & Mysterious Death of Dorothy Kilgallen." It runs 414 pages and is written by the female journalist who wrote the major magazine article a few years ago called "Who Killed Dorothy Kilgallen?" that Mark Shaw and other writers have derived much of their "research" from. For the first time, the new book has the SMOKING GUN: proof that Ron Pataky, the long suspected murderer of Dorothy, was connected to the CIA. He had gone on a covert mission launched by Allen Dulles of the CIA and run by E. Howard Hunt and Frank Sturgis. This is based on exclusive interview tapes with the man done by the author. He also finally admitted he DID attend an assassin's school in Panama where he was "highly trained" (his words). The book traces the evolution of Dorothy's probe into the JFK assassination (she wrote many more articles than most people know) and correlates that with recently declassified documents that prove how fantastic her reporting was. The book is also a great biography of other aspects of Dorothy's life. There is a video about it here:

Kilgallen, a famed columnist for the New York Journal-American, was hot on the trail of a Mafia kingpin she suspected had planned the 1963 shooting of President John F. Kennedy when she was found dead in her Manhattan apartment. The cause was quickly deemed a drug and alcohol overdose, aborting a probe of possible foul play.

Dorothy Kilgallen, a columnist and investigative reporter for the New York Journal-American, was found dead in 1965 at age 52 while investigating the JFK assassination. New York Post
Last year, Holden, (D-Queens), formally asked the NYPD and the DA’s cold-case unit to reopen the Kilgallen case, but got only “lip service,” he told The Post.

“I was told there was going to be an investigation, but it turned out there wasn’t,” he said.” They just looked at it on a superficial level and decided it wasn’t worth doing.”

8 November will mark the 60 year anniversary of Dorothy Kilgallen's death.

She had been working on a book about the assassination of President Kennedy.

Dorothy had voiced her opinion that Oswald had not acted alone. She had recently interviewed Jack Ruby.

She had a very thick file on the subject which disappeared at the same time of her death.

I’m usually not the conspiracy theory type, but lately reading a book about Mary Pinchot Meyers revealed even more outrageous things that were done by the CIA during the 1950s and 60’s. They really were a bunch of poorly supervised fools who were allowed to do some incredibly stupid and dangerous things. Most of them were also notorious alcoholics, which didn’t help.
