The lifeless body of a man was found in the Vlietland recreation area, south of Leiden, on Monday 2 September 2024. He had probably died some time earlier. Investigations revealed that this was not a crime.
The man had nothing on him that shows who he is. His identity has not been ascertained to this day. The police are therefore making public a drawing that gives an impression of what the unknown man looked like when alive.
Nameless grave
It is very sad that sir's next of kin were not able to pay their last respects to him. He is buried in the Ooster Cemetery in Voorschoten, in a grave that is currently unnamed.
Bad teeth
It is important to note that the deceased may not have looked exactly as in the so-called ‘post-mortem’ drawing. That gives a good indication, but was complicated by the fact that the man's body had been in the water for an extended period of time before it was found.
One detail that will hopefully make an acquaintance of the man think is his teeth. This was poorly cared for, the right front tooth was partially chipped and a number of molars were missing.
Who recognizes the clothing?
Please look closely at the clothes the deceased was wearing. These are a shirt with a collar, over it a paisley patterned blouse and over it a vest in size M of the BLUE brand.
The trousers the man was wearing are from the chain C&A's ‘Wear the change’ label. The bag found with him is from Camper; which is a Spanish shoe brand.
